I’m just now realizing that Matt Stafford was the catalyst of two of the some of the greatest receiving seasons of all time. He definitely has a track record for himself

As a Lions fan I agree. He doesn't really care for talking to the media so he just always gives very cliche answers. I wouldn't say uncomfortable necessarily, I just feel like his real personality came out here as opposed to the cookie cutter BS players say usually.
His answer was actually correct. In a route running system like McVays, Kupp can excel, but one on one on an island, Calvin all day.

Matthew Stafford is the most underrated player in the NFL and his personality is also the most underrated. God damn it I love him and miss him in Detroit.
Putting them in the same sentence is an insult to megatron. Kupp is great, but megatron was possibly the most talented wr in nfl history. Only other guy in the same conversation, in terms of talent, was moss.

Stafford didn't have a spectacular season in either of those years. Stop giving him credit for his receivers work. He threw to one guy more often than normal. What extra ability do you need to do that?
When staff asked what kind of offense Brandon was referring to..that wasnt really a question he cared to hear an answer for... He was just trying to make it seem like kupp under certain circumstances would actually be the better option...but he knows damn well and we all do too that hes taking Megatron no matter what formation theyre going with.

Its not a fair question because they're not the same KIND of WR. Kupp does the little things, he does the things that don't get attention, he blocks, he sells decoy routes, he plays SELFLESS football, he wasn't gifted physically so he WORKED HARD, he prides himself on his WORK ETHIC. Johnson is a physical freak, a great WR in his own. The truth is, you take them both because they DO different things. Me? I take KUPP all day long. I'll take a GOOD team mate who inspires others with his work ethic over a guy who just happens to be physically gifted that others can say "well, I'm not as big/tall/fast/talented as Calvin...so".
That being said, they DO make a great point that both of these WR's had the MOST yards in a season and they BOTH had the same QB. They're both VERY different but of extremely high quality.
People that bag on Stafford for doing nothing but being a great QB and having outstanding character are the lowest low. If you're not BETTER than him and you've never been a QB, you can stick you slander where the sun don't shine.
