Can we just take a moment and think that all of this came about because of Beste Zangers (Working with the Marcel Fisser Band and now taking them on tour with her) and COVID. Strange bedfellows and yet here we are. Just amazing.
What I understood from previous comments is that this is not about the fish Nemo, but the Latin word 'Nemo' which means 'nobody'.

This open, slower arrangement REALLY lets Floor color up the lyrics with her wonderful trills (at least that's my word for them) and embellishments.

To me this version of Nemo sounds like Floor used the same technique/method as she used when she sang the Shallow in Beste Zangers - and it sounds very touching and personal that way, gives deepness to the song too 🙂 Great one, good analysis too🤘😊👍

I knew you would especially love this performance. Great analysis. I think this is my favorite version as well. Just love how this feels so intimate and even more heartfelt. Can't wait to see what you think of Sweet Curse with Henk. It is my favorite song from the show so far and is my favorite song that Floor has ever sung. Hopefully you will love it as much as me.
This was lovely! I loved the slower pace, the room for every note to linger, to expand, to float on the ether, to grow and fill the space. She is a vocal virtuoso and her breath control is beyond the beyond. Great reaction, Christi! May the mould gods be with you on the second fitting for a perfect and comfy fit, and tell the audiologist to be extra nice to you because your NYC friend says so... 🤓

@@TheVoiceLoveCo Manhattan isn't being blizzarded quite so hard as some other areas of the city and environs, but it sure is freezing (feel like temps below 0 Fahrenheit range) and the wind is blowing the snow everywhere. I am staying put to get work done ahead of a half day workshop I'm to teach in an overseas training in a couple of weeks. Still online...but hopefully the next time in person!

I do believe she sang Nemo with just Troy playing the guitar! It's fabulous! But...with Floor...I have learned that she can sing any genre of music! I would love to see her team up with Richard Carpenter and sing some of the songs that Karen sang.
I see rain and her singing through the drops when I listen to this version.

@@TheVoiceLoveCo those are the same soft touches of her voice as in Shallow and other slow songs. But if you want to hear the softest voice I've ever heard, almost whispered, you should listen to Aleah. You will be impressed by the intensity of the emotions and messages in her songs.
I’ve seen a few people say the bass is too heavy in the mix but in my Sony XM4’s everything thing seems pretty balanced especially the guitar on this one. Could be my ears lol 🤘🦻🤘
In this song she shows a lot of what she can do in a slower and more calm song, which is a nice contrast to the song she released today which is probably the heaviest of the performance and she goes all out on the other end of her vocals

The song is pure magic! The hot bass everyone seems to be focused on along with the Spanish flavored guitar makes this very sensual. And the fact we are watching the greatest singer on earth. Again PURE MAGIC! Just wait until you listen to Face Your Demons next up in the releases.
I think the bass is a bit heavy but not irritatingly so in my good headphones. The bass sounds heavier listening with my Apple in-ear headphones, but with my Yamaha HPH-MT8 over-the-ear phones, the sound is more spacious, less compressed, and therefore the still-heavy bass is less of an issue. In short, the mix sounds better with a better headset.

Most people seem to think that this is a “new” version, but actually it’s not. This is the way how Nightwish played the song and how Anette sang it during the tour at the time when she left the band and Floor joined in.
As we all know, this song tells a touching story about a little fish 🐠. (or is it about a huge submarine's mysterious captain?). 😜👍 And no need to change your gear. The whole concert is mixed a little too bass-heavy.

THAT'S IS A DIFFERENCE OF TASTE
Audiophile listener ching in. The TASCAMs make excellent studio monitors. But if you are not mixing and mastering where accuracy is paramount, they can be a tad bit too analytical and a little sterile, IMO. I would recommend something more musical with some character. Less achromatic. I can make several recommendations should you be interested.
if i am not mistaken .. Tuomas originally wrote this for Tarja to sing ... both ladies do an amazing job on it .. thank you for your reaction to this Christi .. nicely done ..
I understand that the tone engineer had great difficulty controlling the bass, later in this program this did improve., she had also problems with hear earphone...
What you are saying about your headphones is very interesting. I have a beats headphone which emphasizes the bass, but with my JBL headphones it sounds more neutral, although there is still much bass in the mix, but I like it on the JBL, not on the beats. I don't know how it sounded in the theatre, and with what the soundengineer listened to it, you never get the same sound as the soundengineer, unless you use the same equipment.
I love the curage of the soundengineer to mix the base for excelent speakers. It sounds so well. But as soundengineer I can imagine what is does on bad speakers or a too loud subbas speaker. And I know how to balance a subbase in a PA system. (Dynacord BTW)
The concert was not crowdfunded. After Floor sold out the original concert date she decided to have it recorded professionally. That was what the crowdfunding was for.
As to the bass, I have a extremely good system hooked up to my smart TV. I have never ever heard a bass so comically loud in the mix. For me it didn't detract from the song much because of the crystalline recording of the piano and the voice.
Hi Christi Looking beautiful. Floor is always amazing on stage. This song is different slowed down. Christi I was a Floor Funder and my name was on the documentary about this concert. You should do Face your Demons next.
Nightwish is playing a acoustic version since 2012 , even with Anette: czcams.com/video/bulgNm4ng7c/video.html , so singing Nemo acoustic is not a choice Floor made for the first time.

I love the light Spanish styled classical Guitar pieces and overall slower tempo, and breathy sound of this version.
Floor has previously commented that she has had to ask Tuomas (while trying to sing his new music) that when composing he needs to give her a chance to breathe. He likes to push her to her limits.
5:05 I think Floor said in some interview that she had problems finding time to breath with songs on the "Human :||: Nature" album because Tuomas didn't leave any time either.
With a good set of in ear monitors you wil hear all smal music pieces way better. My best investment to hear music !!

This version I personally like the most, but as you said the sound is a little bit heavy on the bass and I agree with that, there's nothing wrong with the gear 😉
I feel that the bassist in the Marcel Fisser band slipped the sound engineer a few Euros to up his sound in the mix.
For me the soundscape wasn't too off (even when I'm on my DT 770 PROs, known to be lower-end happy) to to elicit an adverse reaction, for my ears the bass was somehow farther away and giving the heartbeat the song needed. Would I turn it down, absolutely. Give it a slightest bit of attack to boot.
But I'm curious about your new in-ear monitors. Your Tascam headphones have served you admirably, what are you changing to? I have only experience with Shure, and oh boy are they flat across the spectrum: with 425s in my ears I got in a flash what the mixing crew was doing with Metallica's Death Magnetic. An album reborn through some purpose-made in ears.

I don't think it's your earphones, it really does sound like you said, the base is bigger, the accoustic guitar is kinda away, but intentionally, because louder it would outshine Floor's voice because it's tuned so high

About headphones, after hearing about your issues with the bass, I tried listening to the original on the four pairs of modestly priced headphones that I own. The Audio Technica M50x were the best and the TASCAM TH-02 were the worst from an 'easy listening' perspective. I use the TH-02 for monitoring in the field as they pick up unwanted background noise quite well, but I never listen to music with them. They're decent, cheap headphones that I wouldn't cry over if they get dropped in the water, but they stay in my video camera bag until I need them.
Where the TASCAM, produced annoying bass and rendered Floor's voice quite harsh, the M50x mellowed everything out. In the TH-02, the bass was booming and very noticeable. In the M50X the bass was still fairly high in the mix, but was definitely less 'in yer face'.
Bottom line, the bass was a bit too high in the mix, but my TASCAM headphones made the bass more noticeable and more annoying. I forgot about the bass when listening with the M50x headphones.
This is STELLAR feedback @Bill Attercliffe. Now I know I am not crazy! Well...at least when it comes to hearing the bass so heavy on this track, that is. 😂 I appreciate the research you did here very much!

As a bass player myself I have to say not only is the bass too hot in the mix, but he also plays with little to no touch as well. That said I really enjoyed this version.

It's nice, but I would rate it my third favourite version, behind the original symphonic metal version with Tarja and the acoustic version with Floor and Troy.
Please review Regine Velasquez singing “what kind of fool am I”. The one where she’s sitting on the floor and belting her life away. She shows so many dynamics and nuances with her voice even before the big belting part starts. She is one of the best singers on earth as well.

There is a "Floor Jansen live at Muziekcafe" show with a Nemo that is very similar to this one also. All those performances were good. I don't know which band it is.

I don't think this has been really mixed yet. I think this is a provisional mix of the raw input to the back of hall mixing desk. There is also a lot of work involved in the matching of the multiple video streams to the audio, and that seems to have been done. I would be surprised if the DVD/BluRay sounds like this. Why would I buy it if it is already on the Internet?

Could be your headphones don't react well to the Lowered bass strings. Possible to try another set of headphones. My headphones give a crisp clean bass sound on this. ( I am a long time audiophile nerd). Almost any "In ears" may be a bit sub par for someone with your aural abilities. High quality open back headphones would be my personal pick. BTW I thing the bass has a tiny touch of actual distortion purposely on the signal.

Absolutely replace those headphones. Not a fan of in ears and would recommend the Beyer Dynamic DT990 Pro or the Sennheiser HD800 S, both are extremely neutral and open back studio headphones. Once there you will never go back. I have the Sennheiser coupled with a Rupert Neve headphone amp.

Lol yeah peole underestimate how hard it is to change octaves withour cracking or injuring yourself lol Why Sympnic Metal Fans are more open is the music does that to you. Most grew up in music families as well many composers in my family and bands, that is really important in our family.

Matter of taste. Floor is just the most beautiful and dynamic creature to sing a solo song. BUT, I prefer watching concert footage of Nighwish with Floor of her singing these Nightwish songs. Just my preference. I would watch the concert footage more times than I would watch this.
