The tympani inside earphones may well tire with age, as many thing do. It is perhaps not surprising, acoustically speaking, that it might vibrate unevenly and may amplify lower frequency sounds better than high-frequency sounds. Sound leakage may also happen more when earphones are older. Glad you like the new ones! Also, FWIW, I like it when you also do reactions to songs you hadn't heard before. There is a newness and a first-reaction-reaction to these, and it adds another layer, as it were. They sound amazing together, and their collegial chemistry is delightful. They are both masterful and they allow their technique to carry them through these playful experiments. It is so much fun to watch! Great reaction, Christi! Also, happy almost 75K!!!

Yeah, I agree, I hear the Kate Bush vocal style @ times too.
I have tremendous respect for both of these artists. They are pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, Henk going metal, Floor going into pop. It only shows the passion they have to perform, and at an incredibly high level. It's all just music, and as Henk said several times on Beste Zangers, "Good music is good music, genre doesn't matter". Love this performance,

It was nice to see on Dutch tv a show by Henk Poort, in which he told the audience stories about his youth and career, also singing old Dutch songs and operatic songs, and guess what - Floor Jansen appeared a few times on stage to sing with him. Great combination of two wonderful vocalists that respect each other and can bring a song to the next level.

The original is amazing and this follows it quite closely. Russell Allen is a vocal beast - one of the best contemporary metal singers with great power and a bluesy vocal fry available on tap. Henk has clearly listened to it closely and has really got on top of that fry sound that must have once been anathema to him as a classically-trained singer. He really, as the kids said (about 10 years ago), kills it (and Floor is as wonderful as ever).
The audience knew he was coming, at least I did, we knew Henk was the guest appearance and this is a song that needs a second (male) singer. It was so lovely, this was one of the best things I ever visited and I'm eternally grateful for visiting this:)
They absolutely knew he was coming. This concert was supposed to be the capstone of her series of concerts in the Netherlands. The first nine took place in the beginning of 2020, just weeks before the first Dutch lockdown. This concert was scheduled for the fall of 2020, but it got postponed because of the pandemic. This song was played with Henk in all nine venues. I saw it in Utrecht.
This is the best song from Amsterdam so far. This song truly grows on you the more you hear it. Floor and Henk is such a dynamic duo. Great analysis Christi. You one of the very top music analysts

Hi Christi How are you. It's amazing the chemistry between these too. Floor also had Marko the same way. Face your Demons is a Sweet.Floor and then some mad Floor in between. Anneke does a couple of Kate 's songs.but I don't remember them.
Nice one! Always have loved this song , Floor’s voice is so rich and Henk comes in with that metallic resonance that fits the song so well.

After rewatching this reaction, a thought occurred to me, after your comments about how Henk is navigating this opportunity with Floor. Have you ever thought of reaching out to Henk for an interview, as I would be very curious to hear you two discuss his past career and his experiences since Beste Zangers. That seems like a fascinating discussion to me.
We're all talking about the vocal and that's great, but let's give some props to her writing and composition. That chorus has been stuck in my head for weeks!

About Kate Bush; Anneke van Giersbergen just started an acoustic tour , here in NL, playing Kate’s songs.
Great reaction as usual. Just some clarifications, Floor had an entire sold-out solo tour after Beste Zangers, but didn't have the funds to do a real pro shot and mixed recording, so she went on Indiegogo and asked the fan, that if they wanted this recording, especially those that could not come to the Hetherlands, to raise the funds necessary, which I was one of the many who quickly funded it. But of course COVID prevented her from performing at AFAS in Amsterdam, which was the last show and the big one she wanted to record and it was pushed to September of last year, and as a woman of her word, she did have it recorded in glorious 4K video with a stellar audio mix and started posting it one performance at a time on her CZcams channel for free, clearly showing that she did not do this for money at all, which makes me like her even more. 😀
I don't know. I think she made good money from these concerts, but that is completely OK. She has a talent (lots of it), she puts in the effort (lots of it) and deserves the reward as far as I am concerned also lots of it.
@@ronaldderooij1774 Possible that she made some money, but not a sure thing, as this is only a small tour in the Netherlands with a full band and backup singers to pay, in small to medium venues with no arenas, stadiums or festivals. Can't say for sure, but I suspect that financing a pro shot video recording on this small a scale, would have probably eaten all the profits or put her in the red, hence the crowd funding. To me the proof that it is not a money grab, is the fact that she is releasing all the performances for free on CZcams.
Agree with many of the previous comments. The version with Russell and Simone are also excellent in their own right. This is just another fabulous rendition.

A lot of metal singers were compared to Enya and ... Moya Brennan from Clanned - Clannad (in Gweedore, Irish An Clann d'Dobhar - Dore's Family) is an Irish band formed in 1970 being composed of Enya's brothers and uncles: Máire Ní Bhraonáin (now known as Moya Brennan), Ciarán O'Braonáin, Pól O'Braonáin - Enya's brothers - and her two uncles Noel O'Dugáin and O'Dugáin. Eithne Ní Bhraonáin (Enya Brennan) was part of the group from 1979 to 1982.

Henk Poort is 65 and becoming a rocker in his mature age. One reactor said some 25 year old singers would wish they had a voice like Henk.
I often repeat this in one way or another whenever someone reacts to a Floor Jansen-written song, but she needs to get the credit she deserves for her songwriting. So good is she as a singer and interpreter of other people's music and lyrics, that her writing abilities are often forgotten, and I'm glad you pointed out how interesting the melody lines are. She's been in Nightwish nearly 10 years and has therefore spent 10 years wonderfully interpreting Tuomas's excellent lyrics. The nearest she gets to writing seems to be changing "…brings me to thee…" to "…brings me to tears…" in Ghost Love Score. But she is a terrific writer of melodies and an excellent lyricist. This, and many other songs from this set prove it. I don't know the extent to which she collaborated on the music with ReVamp - I assume some group effort based on her lyrics and melodic ideas - but I'm sure it's mainly her. After Forever was usually her lyrics and the other musicians' music.
As for Kate Bush, when one gets past the exquisite quality of her voice and technical mastery, Floor is superb as a storyteller. She embodies the lyrics better than pretty much any singer I've seen, and this is something that Kate Bush is notable for. I agree there are similarities in this song. If you watch her perform Monolith of Doubt with After Forever (at the age of 21), there is a section that is very Kate Bush, even down to the facial expression (and amazing eye flash). czcams.com/video/3TmKHkQx45U/video.html

That part that reminded you on Kate Bush and you liked is my favourite Floor part in this song and i can understand you came up to the voice of Kate. Blown away by Kate Bush in my younger years i see it as a great compliment and i must say that i had my moments that Floors clear voice reminded me on Kate Bush too. But Floor is so versitile.. in the end now she reminds me on.. Floor. How 'strange' can it go? Thank you for the love for music!

Wonderful reaction to a wonderful duet. Henk and Floor definitely are special as a duo... BTW If you want transparant/great sounding and super comfortable headphones, you may want to checkout the Sennheiser HD 599. These are 'open' headphones, in contrast to the Sony's, which makes them sound more open and natural.
I have been eagerly waiting for you to cover this song! Your analysis of Floor is always spot on. This is my favorite song that she performs. Number one out of everything she has done with all her bands and collaborations. This arrangement is the same as the original but Russell's voice is a little different and I like the original a little better but Henk really nails it here. Also kudos to Floor for writing this song as well as performing it. Both the lyrics and the performance perfectly capture that duality of love, how incredible it is when it goes well and how devastating it can be when it goes badly. Like many people I have been betrayed in relationships before and this song really hits me emotionally and takes me right back to that place. I am also grateful that we finally have a professionally recorded live version of it. There are some fan made live versions from Floor's ReVamp days but this is even better! I think that Henk is actually enjoying/ enjoyed branching out from what he is used to. Learning new skills in how to use his voice. Yes singing again in front of an audience, yet alone an audience that may or may not have ever had an interest in hearing him sing as in gone to any of his usual musical theatre/ opera performances.
Your comment about Kate Bush is excellent. I’m a senior citizen and admire Kate. Don’t know that I’ve heard Floor mention her but I’m sure she’d be familiar with Kate and appreciates her.
Floor looks upon Russell Allen as one of her mentors and he occasionally performed with Re-Vamp as a guest.

The bass on this has some distortion on it as well ( intentional).
The original Revamp version is so different and rocks. This one is more produced but fantastic twist.
