- 1976 gmc Jimmy 2wd engine swap first fire. Doug's swap long tube headers Ict mounts 3" x pipe exhaust with thrush welded mufflers. 255lph walbro in tank pump.
Transmission is a 1998 4l60e from a camaro. Usshift trans controller and Circle D 2800rpm stall converter.
I installed lq9, 799 heads, .600" lift cam, th400 in my 69 firebird and used the FiTech 70050, easy to navigate and set up, good quality, only thing it does not show the harness has two wires for dual fans, those are negative wires that go to relays and turn on fans , mines are set at 195-on, 185 off.
Recently I wired up dual electric fans with the ecu trigger. I only use the fan 1 wire and it works as it should. Thanks for watching!
Fan 1 Fan2 on the harness are positive right trigger
Ok thanks. I was able to get it started without those 2 sensors but it wont run long
Looks like you may need (want) to calibrate the MAP sensor. It's reading high, unless you're below sea level. Otherwise, looks great! Thanks for doing the walk through setup and run. Sounds good too. Thumbs up.
SethRocksYou Thanks for the pointer. Not quite sure how to do a calibration yet, but I've got a few months to figure it out. (Truck stored)
CBTS stream on Reddit.
looks like a great product! excited to see your review after putting some miles on it (:
So far so good. Unfortunately it will be spring before more exploration. I have one more raw video to upload.
Chris F , I'm looking at this set up for a 5.3 in my 1947 Chevy fleet line. And I'm looking at reviews to make sure its good before I Buy it.
Frank Hernandez can't say how it compares to other systems directly. It did not come with software like a Holley system would, but at a third the price I couldn't pass it up. So far I've only input the most basic parameters with good results.
AEE automotiveengineeringenthusiast Has day I wanna I gotta we gotta go home I got
Frank
How did the Fitch work out in the long term? Looking to get it or the terminator x just not sure the holley is worth the $500 more.
so did you ever spice in the analog gauges? I wanna use this kit on a boat and the little screen would be useless for me.
Dustin Apple Not yet. Speedo needs an adapter. Tach I'm not sure what would work best, but I'm guessing there is also an adapter that could work. Been running great though. Daily drive it when the weather allows. Driving it right now in fact.
I can feel that excited but extremely nervous feeling on first fire. I’m gunna be scooping this kit up for my swap. Where did U put the o2 sensor? I see it only has one. Wanted to run true duals
A second can be added to the other side. My headers had bungs.
Nice rig! What radiator and fan setup did you use?...very clean. Also, any reason you chose not to use the FiTech intake vice the truck intake? Im working a similar project and would like your opinion/experience.
JD Thomas Thanks for the comment! Fan is stock from any ls truck. Radiator is a Griffin I bougt second hand. I plan on replacing the stock fan with a set of shrouded Spal fans controlled by the fitech unit.
Awesome, thanks for the direction
I had only saw a portion of your post. The truck intake and injectors will typically come with a junkyard motor. This motor came drive by wire. I bought a stock cable TB for under $50. The stock truck intake is shown to make more power under 5500rpms than almost all aftermarket units. I didn't need a low profile intake for clearance either. This stock motor makes much better power than my previous AFR head/270h cam 355 engine.
What MAP sensor did you use my kit had different pin connector?
Gregory Richardson I don't have the part number on hand, but tech support gave me the number for the correct 3 bar unit. I plan on doing a 1500 mile follow up vid. My unit has been very reliable and consistent.
how you like the efi harness ? im thinking about putting this kit in my ls3 procharged 78 camaro , i had a stand alone harness that lost spark for 3 month swapping coils , ecu , took harness out twice to check for cuts an still its not running .. now im looking to bite the bullet .. what you think?
I can't give any sort of long term update as the truck is in storage. Initial impressions are that it's decent quality. Some of the wiring is lighter gauge than I'd like. The length is a bit limiting, but it works for my needs. Thanks for the question!
Would be awesome if FiTech gave a windows program or app so you can do that on a laptop rather than the little controller.
There is software available for advanced tuning. I have not needed it yet. Turbo coming this year and I will need to acces the timing tables.
i dont understanf the difference 70050 and the 70051 with trans controller??? does the 70050 works with electrinic transmission like the 4l80e?
Yes. Pretty sure it can control either 4l60e or 4l80e.
Great first startup. This is off topic but how the hell did u get ur horn to work with a aftermarket steering wheel. I bought a grant steering wheel on my 77 c10 and i cannot get the horn to work
punchdb me neither. No horn.
AEE automotiveengineeringenthusiast gat dammit. Thank anyway. Ur blazer is nice
Yo, can I get the part number on those header. Are those the Schoenfeld LS Engine Swap Headers?

Did you have to use a separate controller for the transmission?
For 70050, yes. 70051 has the harness for 4l60e/4l80e hook up.
I already owned the usshift controller and liked it. More content to come in the next couple months.
AEE automotiveengineeringenthusiast awesome thank you for the response. I bought the 70051 and have it all connected ready to fire soon, going through the controller I’m not seeing all the options like your video has listed. Thinking maybe I have a faulty ground or something. Anyway thank you
AEE automotiveengineeringenthusiast I just think something wrong because I don’t have all the options on my screen like yours. Doesn’t show anything about the crank sensor, auto or manual trans, nothing. Think maybe they sent me a wrong controller.
I wish my truck was at home to give you guidance. Make sure you review the quick start guide.pg 14 of instructions.
AEE automotiveengineeringenthusiast ya of course. I don’t expect you to diag my car for me lol. One last question, did you fire up the engine and then do the initial programming or was the programming first. Thanks
How’s the long term, Amy issues?
These units don't like sitting and not running. This truck didn't have an accessory position for the key. I've been stranded once, but have figured out what settings go to crap and can fix it on the fly.
Confirming that everything still works well. I have an accessory circuit now.
Finger cam
Yep. I would have re-shot the video, but then it would have been mis-titled. There's only one true first fire!
lol ok I’m not the only one bothered by it. Good video man but dang annoying finger lol
What did you do about MAP and AIT
The unit comes with the correct 3 bar MAP. Just be sure to use it. I ended up drilling a hole and grommeting the intake tube for the air inlet temp sensor. I lengthened that harness about 10".
@@jdcarguy1242 I'm using stock truck intake and I cant get map in that hole
@@jermainepeterson1764 It may need a little clearancing. I think I drilled mine with a big step drill bit.
