    I'm currently on my 6th year of playing trombone, and i've always been amazed by your tone quality! Is it just practice and experience or do you have any pointers for good tone quality?

    • @ManuelNaegeli

      Great to hear and thank you! It's practice but also knowing how to breathe and let the air flow out. My second teacher worked on my sound a long time and we got it from a more uptight, nasal sound to where it is now.

    I'm only in high school now and while I don't know much about the trombone I do play violin in orchestra (we are lucky enough to have an after school symphony orchestra on top of the normal strings classes) I find this point of view really interesting. Not just the visuals but the sounds as well. Since I'm either in the violin section or the audience I don't even get to hear the orchestra from the back like this. All the brass sounds so much crisper and strong while the strings sound somewhat muted. It's the opposite for me, closer to what the audience will hear. I just thought that was interesting. Anyways I'll make sure to recommend you to my younger step-brother who is a trombonist, this is really awesome!

    • @ManuelNaegeli
      @ManuelNaegeli  Před 7 lety +3

      Thanks, interesting to hear. I think that's one of the reasons why people watch this videos - because the brass section is always at the back of the orchestra where you don't see them this close.

    Okay so I have instrument switching coming up for my school. I play tenor trombone and my options to switch to are French Horn, Baritone, Euphonioum , Tuba, or stay as Trombone. I mostly want to stay trombone, but otherwise what instrument should i switch to?

    • @ManuelNaegeli
      @ManuelNaegeli  Před 7 lety

      +A Mighty Marshmellow Well, it depends what you want to experience. My dad played Euphonium and I tried it a few times. As trombonist it's very similar concerning the sound and therefore not this hard.
      Personaly I'd try the french horn because I think it's a fascinating instrument and not so close to the trombone.
