Very well done indeed. Fascinating to listen to.
One tweak I would have personally made to Xana story, if I were the author of that part of the fiction:
I would add that Imperial observation data - perhaps collected decades later from some orbital spy drone hiding in the debris - showed visual silhouettes of ship traffic in the following months. During which an unusual anomaly was detected. A single ship of unknown and exotic configuration rose from the surface of Xana II. And subsequently moved to the edge of the system and off into the void - without entering the warp.
All correlated data shows no record of it ever arriving.
From then I would specify that, whilst Xana II continued to be a major forge world of the ruinous powers under its new masters, it's quite clear that its manufacturing capabilities dropped significantly. Only being comparable to a normal forge world of similar size. Never reaching the levels previous achieved under the Vodian Consistory.
People could then speculate on what exactly the nature of that mysterious ship was. Where it subsequently went. And what secrets were hidden deep within its adamantium hull, devoid of all markings, save for a single emblazed word, stamped in gold, frozen for all time in a grainy pict still:
"X.A.N.A"
I DIDNT KNOW U WERE A 30k FAN WHAT
If you know, you know.
You missed, Jeremie...
I don't even play warhammer, but I could listen to this guy read lore all day long. Lets face it though, I think this guy could make an Ikea manual interesting. Keep up the great videos
Dude weed LMAO
If that is not an April fool's thing I will be very upset.
He isn't reading Lore.
Most of this is original content, synthesizing disparate bits of fluff.
It's supposed to be a history class.
I dont play the tabletop either. I came for the video games and stayed for the books and lore

“And so it was that the mysterious forge empire of Xana decided to side with the Warmaster, in light of the bounty he had sent them and the grand promise of total autonomy.”
Me: Hm, I wonder how that went?
Next Video: *The Devastation of Xana*
Me: …ah. Maybe not so well, then.
"Lol" said the loyalists. "Lmao"
Xana: *Does a heresy*

Imagine getting caught with your pants down 4 separate times in a single day. Getting your big nasty weapons looted. Your shit burned. And the fkin' dead returning to live to once more give you an unwelcomed kick in the balls. And than someone just ramming their fist up yo ass...That's roughly how it went for Xana. They have chosen, poorly. The loyalist pulled the stops out.

Sheeeet I might hafta put on my sunday clothes to listen to this
As does having the tale have the Dark Sovereign translate *within* Zana 1 - having already established how hard translating beyond the mandval point is.
Anyone else listening to this to fall asleep? The ocolus' voice is just so soothing and he never fails to tell a good story
Awesome voice, vocabulary, and cadence. Hypnotic isn't it
Guilty.
Though I only listen to the same one (History of the unification wars) to go to sleep -- if I listen to one that I haven't listened to a bunch of times, I don't sleep. They're too engaging!
I usually listen to the history of the twelfth for that
Most every night...
The guile of the Dark Angels translating into the system was a glorious manoeuvre. Allowing the loyalists to snap the skull of the Hereteks. Quite literally.
Never underestimate the First Legion
@@jackmyers8687 their appearance in a single archeocruiser was completely unlooked for and unexpected. Their superior firepower in their specific engagement additionally was devastating.
Very impressed.
Not to mention the capabilities it reveals are at the call of First since, as our narrator mentioned in regards to the primary Fleet, trying to translate out of the Warp further inside a system than it's Mandaval point is "lunatic dangerous" - the Dark Sovereign translated within the atmosphere of the first planet in the System...
Interesting thing about Endryd Haar, there is a lot of fluff that suggests he was originally going to be a Thunderwarrior or one of the last batches of Thunder Warriors made. With even some first basic enhancements made. But his transformation was stopped early enough that he could instead be transferred to the Astartes project. So Haar is a Space Marine with some basic Thunderwarrior traits. Like increased size, durability, strength and ferocity.
A terrifying warrior definitely. One quote I love from the audiobook 'False War' (which covers this conflict).
"Tell me, Riven Hound, do you dream of Thunder?"
he died like a punk
@@JoshuaKevinPerry Spoiler Alert for 'Saturnine'
No, he died 1v1 with Abaddon himself and almost finished him with brute strength alone.
@@jackmyers8687 oof
Literal Chad Thundercock?
The level of devastation that the Dark Angels can unleash with even a single one of these ships definitely makes them one of the most terrifying legions. The Night Lords would salivate at the sheer, unconcealed threat-terror that these monsters of the Dark Age of Technology must cause in those beholding their wrath.
They are the First Legion. The Dark Angels. The Sons of the Lion & First of the Angels of Death. There power once eclipsed all other Astartes. Others may be faster, more stealthy or have some other specialist role. The First are masters of all Legion warfare. They just don't go around shouting about it like certain other Primarchs.
The Angels of Death.
Appearing as if from nowhere.
@@jackmyers8687 they certainly are an Enigma.
Has they have not been involved in the Rangdan conflict and the subsequent Xenocides, and retained their greater strength. It is clear they would have given Horus a vastly different proposal I'm his Heresy.
Between the Dark Angels and the Ultramarines they would have outnumbered considerably the heretic traitors. In both numbers and firepower.
@@markrtoffeeman True. Ultramarines rely on numbers, superior supply and logistics coupled with tactics from other legions. They don't like using 'unsavoury' methods like destroyers. And they insist everyone copy them, even though they copied everyone else.
Contrast the Dark Angels, who have specifically targeted combat doctrines for individual enemies (the Order of Broken Claws for Ragna, or the Order Santalales for Khrave) with sub factions for specialised warfare (Dread wing for total annihilation, Fire wing for Intelligence gathering, etc) so they have no glaring strategic vulnerability. Also, while the 13th boast of the accomplishments and seek to influence others, the First keep to themselves, so they are a mystery to friend and foe alike.
@@jackmyers8687for what its worth abandoning campaigns in order to go after suspected fallen is supposed to be the glaring tactical flaw of the first
i just love how the Xenite tech-priests are so cheeky. They KNEW that the imperium could ill afford to conquer them by the sword, so they play coi and then when they almost invariably sided with the Horus they give these three unique and probably irreplaceable super weapons just as a trio of colossal middle fingers to Mars lol.
REAL PRO GAMER MOVE.
Ended up being a bit too cheeky for their own good though.

Loved the twist! I went into this spoiler free and was greatly entertained! Well done as always, friend!
Honestly I would LOVE lore about the dark mechanicum! They are one of the coolest and most fascinating factions in 40k but there aren’t a lot of videos about them.
I do hope, that should GW decide to do dark mechanicus; that the forges of Xana be the forefront of the narrative push, if not heavily represented within the model selection
Totally agree, it's way past time for GW, not FW, to release rules and models for the Dark Mechanicum. Given the lore of Xana there is then scope for not only new daemon engines but for automata and forbidden AI to stride out and take their revenge on the weaklings of Mars and the duplicitous servants of the Corpse God.
If I was an English teacher I would show my students this and assign them to make a video in this style, spoken word with images of their poem. Inspiring
My thanks to the Oculus; this is exactly what I needed… 😎
How can soneone that is constantly under the watchful eye of the inquisition produce such great content?

Amazing insight into the dark corners of history. The devaluation of Xana is a hole in the Imperial fabric. One must wonder what was so concealed behind their “orthodoxy”, was this rot already present.
That the fire ships were sent into the forges and the holy forces engaged able to take the knowledge there. What blessings might have changed the Heresy.

Always welcome, if only class lectures were this engaging.
I consider these lore videos as almost documentary with how well they're done. Your voice, the ambience, the way you set the scene, every video I see of yours I know I will thoroughly enjoy.
As well, I recent saw your 'Keys of Hel' video and that got me thinking, I would really, REALLY like to see rules for these guys on table top, either getting their own Iron Hands specific units, as a special rule you can choose for certain Iron Hands or a rollable trait like the Word Bearers being able to roll to see if their troop choices are daemonic or something else
I like that this includes a implication that the Dark Angels were deliberately denying both sides some of the plunder. It fits well with their steering role of making sure that both Imperial and heretic forces were ground down throughout the war.
That's certainly possible or maybe Malcador either bought them off with the prize or, leaning back into viewing the First as trying to balance the forces in the heresy, knew leaking what was planned to them would ensure they'd pop up.
Why would they want imperial forces ground down? They _are_ imperial forces!

A ex thunder warrior is a perfect weapon to send to Xana. Those boys know how to start a party.

Those three roles into 1 is pretty much The Lion
@@jackmyers8687 I agree. I think the fall of Caliban was chaos making sure they didn't have a Warmaster Lion knocking on their door like Warmaster Horus was knocking on Terra.

Simply sublime
Ave Oculus
Absolute master stroke by whoever planned the overall Incursion mission, my money's so on Malcador, so many moving parts - perhaps even somewhat unaware of each other - yet pulled off so flawlessly that it actually broke through and achieved it's overall goals against a foe the Imperium had been wary of trying to conquer. If not for the fact they wouldn't have been able to afford to spare the resources necessary to do it, they pry could have outright crushed Xana completely off the back of this despite the Forgeworld's might.
What a perfect punctuation to my week.
Did Shyamalan direct the attack on Xana?
Yes ! Almost an hour of Oculus Imperia goodness 😀 thank you for all your hard work mate.

Anyone else think the "Amphion" was once the flagship of a Lost Legion?
The word does mean "native of two lands"
The powers of the Lost Legions remain unknown. It is equally possible that the Amphion *remains* a flagship of a Lost Primarch.

More on VRAKS PLEASE!!!
PURE HORROR!!!
So... there's no answer to the Xana Paradox? Not even a hint at how they had become so powerful, in such a short period of time, completely isolated from the rest of the galaxy? No juicy secrets except an imprisoned Anacharis and his AIs?
Xana is a powerful ai that started in an abandoned factory in France roughly in 2004ish. He was known to be able to control inanimate objects and to possess people. He likely developed this culture after he escaped a monstrous prison known as lyoko… please gw, take this and make it canon.
That’s pure genius
I wonder how much the initial Imperial incursion must have spooked the Xanian Magi to neglect keeping reserve space forces and ground to orbit munitions?
May I ask the name of the artist at 9:00? Really cool style for 40k work
Great stuff 👍
