      That sounds a bit fantastical - we see very well adjusted children in the Princess Royal's family, in Edward's family and in William's family. Even the York children have turned out fabulously, despite the upheavals. Diana wore her heart on her sleeve, which allowed us all to get invested in her journey. Most royals get on with family life in near-complete privacy.

    🥀Funny how everyone praises Diana for putting motherhood first, but then turns around and accuses Catherine of being 'lazy', 'stepford' or 'boring'. Diana was defiant about everything, because she was hurting from her husband's betrayal. Catherine balances duty and motherhood perfectly - stellar at the job, lovingly present for her husband & mother of three very happy children. As much as we love to lionize Diana because of her very public pain, Catherine deserves similar regard because of her quiet self-possession.

    • @giapaul7973
      @giapaul7973 Před 5 měsíci +14

      I agree with you. Diana was’t just hurting from her husband’s betrayal but that she couldn’t get her husband’s love. In the palace she felt alone and felt that no one understood her or loved her. In my opinion, Diana wasn’t just hurting from her husband’s betrayal but also loneliness. Diana had a different way of thinking from the rest of the royal family, this scene is an example of it. Diana changed the royal family.

    • @raynuh138
      @raynuh138 Před 5 měsíci +20

      There are little to no similarities, that’s clear. Diana was a free spirit who worried more about family than “falling in line”. I would compare Diana to Meghan before I compare her to Kate. IMO.

      @@raynuh138 You're welcome to your opinion, of course. To my observation, Kate does not 'fall in line', which is why some call her lazy or boring. She has chosen to prioritize motherhood over the pap walks. She gets the job done, but not at the expense of her young ones. Diana would be proud, IMO.

      @@lumenesque1Kate toes the company line which is why she has a Nanny and staff. She has never had an opinion of her own or tried to outshine her husband so in no way shape or form is she anything like Diana. Kate is constantly praised for putting her kids first while Meghan is constantly criticised for doing the same things. Stop putting Kate on a pedestal that she doesn’t deserve to be on. Plenty of other mothers do way more than she does with less but no one is singing their praise or giving them gold stars like you are here

    • @lumenesque1
      @lumenesque1 Před 4 měsíci

      @@cherrytraveller5915 What a deliciously one-dimensional understanding of human nature. You cannot truly believe Diana can be reduced to some narrow expression of defiance & rebellion. As a real human being she was far more nuanced than that. Similarly these little simplified parodies people make of Kate are equally as ridiculous. Loyalty, passion & belief in her role becomes 'toeing the company line'/'not having her own opinions'. Bitterness over ones lot in life in no way diminishes what somebody else accomplished with theirs. In fact it is that very bitterness that differentiates one from the other, even tho' they appear to be doing the exact same things. So no, I will not stop respecting Catherine. She is a rare figure of grace and authenticity in a world of greasy wannabe's & unhinged entitlement. By all means, have your own opinion - but scolding me for having my own...? Pfff.

  • @laurateixeira4182

    She’s absolutely right. Even though the Royal family had this type of thinking, she brought a sensibility for the family that changed everything. Not to say that Elizabeth II was a bad mother, but she was raised differently so she also raised her children in a typical royal family way, which was what she knew.
    Anyways, I know William will be an awesome king ❤

      Nope. He was spitting facts. And Diana's life would have been markedly easier if she didn't live her life trying to have her cake and eat it too. Taking a baby on a tour like this was silly. It would completely unsettle the child, sleep patterns and routines would have been difficult to keep thus causing the child to be tired, distressed and fuss alot. Diana was thinking of herself and not what would actually be good for young William.

      @@vanessac1721 but at least if William did fuss and become upset Diana his mother is there to comfort him. It would be far worse to leave him at home without his mother. A 6 week old baby needs its mother no matter where they are. Why do you think Charles is the way he is? He was often left alone whilst his parent's went on tours for months at a time. Thats not good for a child it probably caused abandonment issues. Diana was 100% right here William was a baby a human being with needs not a bloody doll you can leave behind when travelling.

      Didn't you get her point? William was/is the future king. Nothing could be more important to the Crown than taking good care of him. And a baby needs present and loving parents. Charles (at least the show version) certainly missed that. People weren't as aware of this when he was young.

    • @AnntheTheatreFan
      @AnntheTheatreFan Před 3 měsíci +3

      @monmothma3358 Yes, but it's hardly OK to drag your baby half across the world into a completely different climate for a few months tour with intense itinerary. She knew (couldn't NOT know) that she would be required to make a huge number of public appearances and would not be able to devote all her time to her baby. Or she was wilfully difficult because the marriage didn't met her hopes and expectations and she tried to show her character. Nobody doubts that she is a loving mother. It just seams to me that she is acting spoiled and uncompromising here. She has a job to do. (Again, I am speaking of a CHARACTER representation in the TV-series. I don't know, don't have any possibility to know what was happening with real person.)

      @@AnntheTheatreFanI see that you have no understanding of infant attachment formation. I suggest that you read on the topic a little bit. Young children cannot undergo normal development if they do not form proper attachment with their parents. It cripples their emotional intelligence, and hinders their ability to cope in stressful situation (cortisol management). This would no doubt be disastrous in a future king(or anyone really). Elizabeth failed to develop a healthy attachment with her own son and that made Charles insecure and resentful. Perhaps Diana was fearful that history would repeat itself.
