    Dude... thank you. I just started playing ark and am usually pretty good at picking up game mechanics. The way some creators take an hour to explain something that can be explained in 10 minutes was killing me and making it so hard to follow. No long intro, no fluff, easy to follow. Thank you.

    I know this video is a month old already and everyone has already given their thanks but I cant stress this enough. I couldnt understand what I was doing wrong with other creators breeding both male and female mutations together and not explaining the way they stack. Thanks for going back to the abc's. So extreamly helpful and I managed to figure it out with only one waisted mutation on my health mutated male.

    Anyone else annoyed that the binoculars are a last engram unlock, the game is basically done by that point so no one outside of pvp would be too concerned with mutating AFTER getting them. (I know there’s mods that can be used but I’m talking from a strictly vanilla POV).

    • @ConCon
      @ConCon  Před 9 měsíci +22

      Yeah it's a bit crazy to put it at the end where no one would need it at that point anyway

      See, I really hate it. It makes no sense to me (I use mods to supplement it), but I have a theory as to why that’s the case though it’s dumb asf and doesn’t make sense.
      FOR THE FUTURE DLC AND MAPS~
      That’s it… so when people move to new maps, not everyone in the pvp scene will have them and all that jazz since most balancing in the game is for pvp. I’m a single player Andy so mods are my godsend, my heart goes out to those on official

    At 11:00 that wolf is not necessarily fixed as it still has a ton of wasted mutations and since it does and the number is over 20 thechance of further mutations gets cut in half from something like 7% to 3.5%. its best to just go back to before the mistakes occured as it will save a lot of time. And its notthe end of the world if you get a female with a mutation all you have to do is breed the female with an unmutated male until it passes the mutation you want on to a male.

    • @ConCon
      @ConCon  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Yes you are correct, its only best to do this if you already had 20 mutations. But this is also how to fix your line if you already messed it up. It would be preferable if you didn't mess it up in the first place.

    I think you said that the dino didn't really get mutations even though the count mutation went up but I think color changes in a dino even though theres no extra stat mutations, the colors will still count at mutations. In my opinion, I would go for color in mutations in a dino towards the end of the line unless you randomly get the colors you want.

    • @ConCon
      @ConCon  Před 9 měsíci +3

      Yes or breed colors in a separate line for the end

  • @iamthejustin7420
    @iamthejustin7420 Před 4 měsíci +1

    @ConCon is 100% correct. Once you've mastered this process, you could also start a different batch for negative mutations. So you have your health batch, damage batch and the negative mutation batch, where you keep smashing the mutated dino together to get the mutation counter below 0; as the counter accumulates, it'll go past the byte value, flipping to negative, which essentially means both sides have 0 mutations, and you get increased probability and efficiency of getting mutations. You need approximately 32 generations to achieve this. And it's only for people who are going for max stats.
    In the previous ARK: Survival Evolved, you saw all the Real-Money Traders on the black market use this strategy.

    Done a lot of breeding on ASE - so assuming its the same on ASA, some people like it in text form - Basically;
    Wild / Start:
    - Get wild dinos with stats you want
    - Breed until you have a male and female (non mutated and they have all of the right stats) - this is your original/start pair
    Mutation 1:
    - Breed together the non-mutated pair (keep a hold of the original male for later)
    - Swap out the male each time there is a mutation on the male line (kill anything else)
    *You end up with the 20 mutation stack male breeding with the original non-mutated female(s)
    Mutation 2:
    - Take the non-mutated male again, breed with one of the non-mutated females and do the same for a different stat and this time do it while swapping out the female.
    This takes longer because for the male line, you can use multiple females to 1 male but this doesnt work for female line.
    *You will end up with a 20 mutation stack female breeding with the original non-mutated male
    End:
    Once you have your 20M and 20F,
    - Breed these together until you get a male and female with both mutation stacks applied. (This is your perfect mutated pair)
    - Breed them together and the child from this is your riding/using tame(s), imprint and then store the perfects somewhere safe
    - - -
    4 Stack Mutation:
    If you want to do a 4 stack Health, Melee, Weight, Stamina (10 mutations) -- its the same thing, instead of 20 you just stop at half way.
    You will end up with 2 males, 2 females. Breed till the mutations transfer over

    • @skunkyfunky
      @skunkyfunky Před 9 měsíci +1

      If you keep the matrilineal part clean you can still add maternal mutations to that “perfect mutated male”.

    • @ConCon
      @ConCon  Před 9 měsíci

      Most of that is correct but you stopped early at 40 mutations, you can keep going until you reach 127 mutations on each stat to max out the creatures stat values.

    • @skunkyfunky
      @skunkyfunky Před 9 měsíci +1

      Also, you can now start mutating dinos with low stats and when you find another one with better stats, put it in the "equation". You can start with the mutations from the beginning and then mix them with the stats of other dinos you find later.

    • @IXxJordan
      @IXxJordan Před 9 měsíci

      @@skunkyfunky Hmm, I generally enver had to go higher so I never tested things. Would that mean you can have 20/20 on the male then 20/20 on a female?

    • @skunkyfunky
      @skunkyfunky Před 9 měsíci

      @@IXxJordan I'm still learning so I could be wrong but I think that as long as you haven't reached the cap (20/20) in both ancestry lines you can continue adding mutations from the one that is not at 20/20.
      When you reach 20/20 in both lines is when it no longer allows you to add more mutations (stats). But you can always clean one of the lines with a clean creature (no mutations).
      As I say, I could be wrong... @Concon is the one who can really confirm it for us.

    @michalberka9987 Před 8 měsíci

    Two major points I have not heard you mention:
    1. Once a dino has 20 or more on either side, it can no longer mutate. Yes, the clean female can source the mutation, but not the male, meaning from 20 up you breed with HALF the chance of getting a mutation.
    2. This can be avoided. If you stack the counters and reach a little over 2.1 billion, the counter will overflow into a negative number.
    The game considers that negative number less than 20, so the male CAN be a source of a mutation again, getting you back at full chance.
    Otherwise great vid

  • @KDaverGraphics
    @KDaverGraphics Před 9 měsíci +4

    good video on basics.. but you did get some things wrong.
    Mainly, you will never get a mutation that is just a stat or just a color. Every mutation is a stat and a color. the Stat may be from a lower stat. or a color in a region that is unseen. but it will be there. used to be speed that could not be seen. but even then. programs like ARK smart breeding could find it fast.
    once the mutation counter hits 20/20 or higher. that parent will no longer contribute to a mutation. then you halved the chance of getting a mutation. which is why you keep one side clean.
    Most breeders use Clean females as a male can breed with many. but I have seen some breeders breed with female mutations and a clean male. granted, takes them longer to get mutations. but it can be done.
    and for breeding mutated males and females could be used to get the mutations into NEGITIVE numbers. to allow the male to contribute a chance for mutations again. but that is late game breeding.

    • @ConCon
      @ConCon  Před 9 měsíci +2

    I actually did breed a bunch of mutated argies together during the event just because it was so easy and I was going mainly for stats. I’m glad there’s a way to fix it though and luckily most of the mutated babies I have are just one on the patrilineal side. So far I got stam mutation on ptera, melee mutation on wolf, and I’ve gotten mutations in every stat for argies. I kept females without Ms though luckily and males that still have the correct counters. I’m not sure if I have the patience to continue breeding for ms but I atleast got a start on it while rates were up.

      @@ConCon hey update now I have 2 baby male argies that are both “ fixed “ with all 4 mutations on partrilineal side and matrilineal side is clean. The better one is 3431 hp 1280 stam 390 melee 448 weight. It looks like it got the weight mutation but the lower stat so it didn’t really reflect. My best argy stat wise had the same melee but 3500 Hp and about 800 weight b4 imprint. That one came out level 254 I believe. Overall all the breeding I done prior was worth it because it was the only way to get these kind of stats all onto one argy. Now I can still go for mutations later if I choose but I can guarantee babies with stats like these whenever I want.

    1. Clean F, Clean M, breed till mutated male.
    2. Clean F, newly mutated male, breed till newly mutated male with new mutation and original mutation.
    3. Repeat with Clean F and newly mutated male.
    Is that correct?
    Also, can you do this same process with a Clean M and mutated females? Example;
    1. Clean M, Clean F, breed till newly mutated F.
    2. Clean M, mutated F, breed till newly mutated F with new mutation and original mutation.
    3. Repeat with Clean M and newly mutated F.

    breeding the messed up male with it's clean mother doesn't really fix it while the males counter was under 20.. under 20 on the males side leave a 50\50 chance for the desired stat to be mutated by either the male or female or rarely both (double mutation). by "fixing" the messed up male by moving all the mutations onto the males side with a clean female but having the counter go over 20 you essentially rob your breeding line of getting mutations from the male meaning the only mutations you get will come from the female side. hardcore breeders will encounter this anyway when they breed upto stat cap but having that 50\50 chance in the beginning can speed up the mutations. better to go back once you realise you messed up and keep it clean. other than that as an experienced ark breeder i'd say you explained it rather well

      I guess so but… can it also be done but using clean males and filling the matrilineal side? In order to maximize time and use all the mutated offspring (males and females)?
      Thanks for your quick responses. I appreciate it a lot.

      The 254 is only for the mutation counter, not counting base stats or the level up stats you put it.
      As for using mutated female with clean males, you CAN do this but its slower because a female can only breed once per sessing whereas the mutated male can breed with countless clean females in one session improving your chances of getting a mutation in the right stat + passing down the original mutation stack@@skunkyfunky

    The mutations counter went well above the 20 on each side in ase

      Yes but you stop getting mutated stat increases after 20 in both sides.
