- Investigators looking into the January 8, 2016 crash of West Air 294, are left bewildered. The plane appears to have hit the ground off-course, upside down, and at a blazingly fast speed.

me for my next flight: how to be a blackbox
Firstly you have to be in a box. Perhaps the best way will be becoming a cat.
False - you want to be the camera crew. They always manage to survive somehow...
@@adamp9348 they always teleport so far from the crash site watching everyone die....

@@shiraga0516 Plus being a cat has the added benefit of always landing on your feet and having 9 lives!
Those poor pilots. With the plane hitting the ground at 600 MPH I would guess their bodies were reduced to pieces no larger than an ice cube. Im surprised at that speed the airplane didnt tear itself apart on the way down. Sad!
If it went any faster it probably would have gone supersonic, causing a good amount of damage to the plane. With a straight impact into the ground at that speed nothing but small bits of metal would be left, most imbedded into the ground.
The GForce’s intensity wouldve killed them before they hit the ground
It could have broke up but it was too close to the ground we couldn't see it.
😓
Erm you’d be lucky to find any human remains at all.
that must been terrifying...not noticing that you accidentally put your aircraft into a dive instead of recovering from a climb that never happend
That's what happened?? Was the altitude meter thingy faulty?
@@Ricky-nn3be no the ADI seemed to have malfunction
@@themomentchannel3498 it was the IRU that was faulty. Big time failure
No it wasn't the ALT fault it was working very well when they were in a dive the ALT sensor went down

@@puntycatvideos9741 they weren't flying they were gliding
Yeah especially without engines it cannot fly level
@@puntycatvideos9741 I mean, it was based off a real life crash, Alaska Airlines 261, thew horizontal stabilizer malfunctioned and the plane entered a dive. They ended up flying upside down, which actually did help a little, it just didn't help enough

Cuz no survivers
Yea
Lol😂😂😂
Because they know people comment about it which makes the video more popular and in turn gets recommended more and brings them more revenue.
Smithsonian: The Brightness Strikes Back
The cause was due to the lack of communication between the pilots, and the captain not taking note of the fact that his and his co-pilot's displays were different. Spacial disorientation was a cause too
When you have to come to comments to see what the video promised to explain...
There was a malfunction in one of the inertial reference units
@@Gersti96 it's an ad to get you to watch the full episode through their service, of course it's not going to condense the full episode into three minutes
I'm pretty sure this isn't spatial disorientation lol
@@theshermantanker7043 Partly is. It's because if this were in the day I'm pretty sure the captain would have known that, as a matter of fact, that his plane was in a dive. Since he could not tell whether he was going up or down, it can be classified as spatial disorientation.

Title: why was the plane upside down when it crashed
Me: because its went upside down
Wow. I thought this video was old, but it was only posted one hour ago. Good video!
Captain's ADI looks like it malfunctioned. It's only on screen for a second but there's a moment where you can see all three ADIs. 2 of them show the nose pointing at the ground, but the captain's shows the nose pointing at the sky. Captain tried to correct a pitchup that wasn't happening and augered in.
3:22 wow that's a deep hole.
Maybe because it hit the ground fast and created a semi-sphere
Video: why was the plane upside down?
Me:Bruh why is your thumbnail upside down
Legend says that black boxes data is still being downloaded somewhere in France.
Why don’t they just cover planes and cars in Nokia phones. Then they’ll survive
If they did this then the plane would surely make it out of the crash but the damage to the planet would be severe. If the plane is large enough, it might be the way of the dinosaurs all over again.
@@sonikkuzahejjihoggu535 because nokia phones are "indestructible"

That’s actually a really good idea!! You’d have to set them all to airplane mode though, otherwise it could be dangerous.
Ahh! Air Disasters is back! This ARMY was waiting for this comeback!
“its brighter here“ MADE MY DAY IT REALLY DID
I’m no expert but I think it crashed because the plane was upside down.
Why does the actor for the captain look familiar like I’ve seen him in a movie
He was in Are you afraid of the dark in the 90s.
I saw this documentary on last Thursday and this video was uploaded on Thursday
Coincidence? I think not!

Why was this plane upside down?
It must have taken off from Australia
The land down under
🙄
Good thing the cameraman did everything in reality. A few minutes later, low key, the investigators did everything
The reason the plane crashed was due to an technical error in the planes instrument which caused the pilots to lose control of the plane and therefore it started going down.
Appearently the pilot got the information that the plane was going steep up but in fact the plane was just going steady straight.
It's the faulty IRU
600 mph no one can survive that. That is greater than a speed of any modern fighter jet. Ultimately, I am surprised that the Black Boxes were recovered.

The black box is the safest place on a plane.
the first officer is confused on why he is pushing down because the first officer sees in his instruments the plane is going down and what the captain sees that its going up

Can you do Turkish Airlines flight 1951 plsss?
Why make a video of the events leading up to the crash and how the crash happened, but not include WHY it happened?
Because this is a preview, you'll have to pay cable tv to watch the entire episode, most are 50 minutes, maybe there is some subscription service that allows you to see their episodes but you can go check their website
And finally found the website
www.smithsonianchannel.com/details/series/802
You may have to pay, i didn't check and im not interested in 50 minute long documentaries, theres the link in my comment above this one, if you do have to pay, you have 3 options, forget about learning more, pay or just read for the wikipedia article
Heres the wikipedia article en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Air_Sweden_Flight_294 other than that have a good day
Damn that runs deep even for me
Any part 2 ?
All the captain needs to do was to pay attention to the ALT sensor it's working very well and this would definitely not happen and also pay attention to plane angle by looking when your vision is pointing down pull the plane up and speed senser
It malfunctioned so they forgot to do that. Plus it was A few minutes After Midnight.
A pilot watches this documentary so that in the unlikely chance any of this happens to him he would have an idea of what to do about it
This is why u need parachute in a plane xd
where could i find full episode ,,, any one pls

Why Was This Plane Upside Down When it Crashed?
Smithsonian Channel: Both black boxes are sent to France...
Those damn black boxes
I feel like this crash concept was implemented in that Denzel Washington movie. "Flight"
"Flight" came out in 2012
This plane crashed in 2016
How was this became the basis for "Flight"?
How come we never know what happened, where is the full story
I think there are full versions, not too sure.
When did it happen command
They need to "Straighten up and fly right"
What year did they crash
Great
Wait wait i didn't finish i'm at 1:30 But did the pilot pull the plane up when he's upside down don't you need to push down since your inverted
But there was no trace of flight 93??? 😳
From what i remember hearing was that there was only very small pieces of debri, where the "crash site" was found...
But this plane was going 600mph before impact and they found the wings??
