That forgot pat mcafee:
Woman on phone: “ok so what jersey number would you like?”
Pat: “what numbers do you have?”
Woman: “one,”
Pat: “perfect!”
I could listen to the story behind jersey numbers all day.
Same here
Lies.
I liked number 1 so much they gave me 2 😂😂
Mr Potential twice the fun
Us in AZ just been showing Larry love since day 1 😂😂😂
Lol
I think Pat McAfee has probably the best number story ever! "So what number would you like? We've got one, tw..." "Yea! Give me that one! I'll take it"
Bierlee Apparently, it was over the phone. I’m also told he was drunk at the time
Pat MacAfee was drunk when they were calling him about his number the lady said “one” and he said “yeah that works” and hung up.
so some of the most legendary numbers are the result of just random bullshit? god i love sports.
geekdiggy lol Joe Montana has the most basic story hahaha
I bet the Cards gave Fitz #11 to accentuate his height.
I call this the "Manute Bol Tactic".
Edit: Apparently Flutie is familiar with this trick too.
I always assumed it was 13 (HS) + 3 (college).
He should just go with that story.
What god
@@sixburgh64ss He was actually 19 first. Don't know why they go with the random things about 16, because there are photos of Montana wearing 19. And he was a Unitas fan, also 19 and also from the same area of Pennsylvania. Joe Namath wore 19 a lot when he was a kid, too. His nickname was "Joey U."
I've always had a weird obsession with jersey numbers. Glad it got some light shown to it
Ray Lewis' number origin story is great
@RoguePepper 9606 i think it is cuz of his mom his dad use to beat up his mom and his mom bought him cards or sum then by like every number he got he did pushups and he got 52
I think thats the story or sum like that
RoguePepper 9606 it’s how many numbers are in a deck of cards
Pat McAffees story is the best one. (Not shown tho)
Henry Reinecke where can i see him talking about it
czcams.com/video/TzV_P_M3eSY/video.htmlm13s
Long story short it was a "shut up and let me get shitfaced" moment
What number do you want?
Pat: WHAT?
One?
Pat: YEAH THAT ONE
hahahaha golden
He was too drunk to pick
How in the world did they not put ray lewis in there. He has the most amazing story of all nfl players.
Marhu Kamanga amen to that
What was his story?
jeffgordonfan2462 ray lewis had a abusive father who always hit rays mom, so as a kid ray had a deck of playing cards, if he pulled out a 5 he did 5 push ups, if he pulled out a 8 he did 8 sit ups, he did that because he promised himself he was going to get strong and big so he can stop anyone from hitting his mom, and when ray counted the deck of playing cards as he grew older, there was 52 cards.
Comic Fridays oh so that's why he murdered a man?
ronald whitman maybe, but everyone is different, who knew.
as a waterboy, i wore number 238
ExZachtly mine was 323
I had number 916
I wore 68 as a defensive tackle cause my coach said here you go
When Chad moved to Montreal I played him on fifa and he was really nice. Nice guy all in all.
Coach: start screaming what do the numbers mean
Mason: no god please noooooooo!!!!!!
In middle school I played WR and the number I picked was 18. 18 was the number because that year 'The Freak." Randy Moss played for the Raiders and that was his number!
I was a DE that wore 80 in HS. The reason being my HS ran out of lineman numbers so i had to choose between 80 and 81. 80 has grown on me. And alot of great pros wore 80. Thought id throw in my jersey number story.
Nice story.
Lineman get 50-79 and 90-99. How tf did they run out?
@@melatonin12 It could be at a high school with a lot of guys who went out for the team. Numbers are way more relaxed in high school and college, especially high school.
Carl Eller is probably the most famous DL who wore a number in the 80s.
@@melatonin12 In high school and college anyone can wear any jersey they want
Love these videos!!!
Mike vick has the most iconic number no doubt.
Pat Tillman.
I love these stories
3:48 now 13 is always one of the first ones taken
because of Dan Marino. Alex Rodriguez has 13 because of him
Another one. please
How many great QBs wore #12
Alan Leon Namath, Bradshaw, Staubach, Stabler, Kelly, Brady, Rodgers. It's probably too early to put Luck in the same list as the rest of them.
Jonathan George so 6 qbs
Agent J09 those 6 QBs are some of the greatest
Jonathan George Brady?
JKI I’m a bills fan and Ik he is the GOAT
This should be a series!
Thank Uuuu.
I wore 56 because I was the last to show up to pick and there was either 56 or 20 and I was a linebacker
I first played football in 8th grade. I wore #15 in every other sport I played, but I couldn’t wear it in football because I was a lineman. 51 was already taken, so I ended up going with 75, because the 7 resembled a 1. I wore 75 until my sophomore year, because I became too big for the jersey. I ended up switching to 72 that season, because a 2 is like an upside down 5, and the jersey actually fit me.
I played QB/FS my first two years of High School at Hart High (Newhall, CA) in 1996 and 1997. Rocked #11 because of Drew Bledsoe.
It's hard to imagine some players as any other number, but they actually wore a different number at one point (not counting preseason). Reggie White, for example, wore 91 in his first year in Philadelphia. Can you even picture Reggie White wearing anything but 92 today?
I wore #73 as a QB bcs it was just a bad organized team...like really bad
Josh tha savage I’m 73# as as a rb
I had random numbers in little league baseball, 24 for Ken Griffey Jr, 25 for McGwire, etc. When I got to high school, they had two in my size, 7 and 14. And I was born on the 14th, so I went with that, and have been that number on every video game I've played since.
My favorite jerseys I own are Dan Marino (13) Kirk Cousins (8) and Joe Theismann (7)
Drew Brees wears his 9 for his favorite baseball player
Strahan was so right when he said 60’s only look good in pudgy guys (O lineman)
I can't believe Chad Johnson liked a number so much he changed his last name to it
I like #26 cuz of Clinton Portis when he was on the Broncos. No idea why I liked him so much but I did. Now I like to go with #6 for hockey
My favorite jersey number is 42 because I played WR and DB and it worked for both plus Ronnie Lott is my favorite player
I started wearing #54 when I joined a team called the Cowboys who's uniforms resembled Dallas because of Randy White who I learned of through NFL Films and became one of my favorite players now whatever team I join in the future I will always ask for that number.
I remember seeing Lott wearing #24 in the preseason of his rookie year.
Great welcime
Never was part of my basketball varsity in school but during summer camps and when I played sports video games I chose 44 because I was born in April 4.
Being a kicker it was always either 2, 3, or 5 and I always took 3
Ochenta y cinco
1:30 you can see smoke on the bottom of the screen as if chad ochocinqo is smoking
I am from Germany and I play as cornerback in the third highest division. Before our first ever game me and a team mate received our jerseys before the game. I asked him "Which number did you get" - "28 and you?" - "29". Our team manager: "Woe you trade them!" 🤣 After four years of playing I love number 29.
24 and 42 just my lucky numbers
42 has been my football number for 8 years
I was gonna wear #73 in honor of Larry Allen but they didn’t have it so I wear #72.
Pat macfee has the best story for his jersey number
I'm banded from watch NFL......see DAT, Thursday. Oouch
Bout time they made this vid...
My number was 56 because I was a linebacker and my favourite player was Lawrence Taylor.
Waiting on the day that so many numbers get retired they have to start using 3 digits. It'll be dope seeing dudes out there wearing numbers like 632 and 801
I wear 3 bc my dad wore it all through high school and college and he was a qb too
Doug Flutie is kind of a meme at my school for a very obvious reason...
Let the goat go last with his num16r.
She says names give way to numbers but in chad Johnson’s case his number gave way to his name. That’s kinda funny 😁
I miss the old days where all the receivers wore numbers in the 80s
I bet the Cards gave Fitz #11 to accentuate his height.
I call this the "Manute Bol Tactic".
Edit: Apparently Flutie is familiar with this trick too.
If I ever do get into the NFL I would be #17
I simple HATE the new players numbering system! What the NFL should do is to force the owners to un-retire ALL numbers from "1-99!"
QB, Punters & Kickers - 1-19
RB & DB - 20-49
LB - 50-59
OL - 60-79 (Centers & Guards should wear numbers from 60-69)
WR & TE - 80-89
DL - 90-99
Instead of retiring a number, just give it a ring of honor plaque on the stadium!
Number 21 & 20 are my favourite players to watch. Guess who?
Why is brady not in this he has a epic backstory
Oncho cinco
Gotta love OchoCinco
I played with 90 as a cornerback so opponents thought I was an athletic tough defensive end and they didn't run to my side.
I got mahomes Jersey after the play offs this year
Had to be Katie Nolan narrating
TRIVIA: What # did Jim Thorpe wear??
i wear 69...
cuz it’s a combo of my birthday on june 9th =
6-9
The best number is 41! Alvin Kamara all the way
I heard tom Brady chose 12 cuz the punter chose number 10
I always wear 19 Or 13
Mathematicians have entered the chat.
What about ray lewis 52 cards in a deck story?
Rob Johnson threw away their 1999 season LOL
I wore 88 because 8 was my favorite number, so I thought, like Larry Fitzgerald, why not have two of them? Also, 88 is a much better tight end number than 8.
Hi.
13 is the best NFL NUMBER #OBJ
I wore 17 in high school cause it made me look thinner 😂
Ray Lewis story is so bad ass look it up
Why in God's name did they not include Randy Moss? A-K-A #84! In fact, that is my best football jersey that I have in my collection of 15+ jerseys. My other one who they also did not include which is my favorite jersey of this player-Trevor Pryce, #93.
Kalonji Rivers Trevor pryce isn't good enough to be mentioned with players in the hof and other legends haha.
Why not? He is a good defensive player.
Kalonji Rivers because he wasn’t that good .
Love Montana. lol
I'd get 12 cus I wouldn't question what number coach called for something
I met Doug floutie
How do u not put pat mcAfee’s story in this
they should have pat mcafee story on how he wore 1
In high school they let me choose my number… I chose #69 baby 😎🔥
How can you not put Antonio Brown. He wears 84 because 8 x 4 is 32 and 32 teams had a chance to pick him.
Lemme save you 5 minutes; they picked the numbers because that's all they had available
Soccer's number jersey are by position. Does it have in football?
Short answer: yes. Long answer: Quarterbacks, kickers and punters wear 1-19. Backs (both offensive and defensive) wear 20-49. Wide receivers wear 80-89 and 10-19. Tight ends wear 80-89 and 40-49. Centers: 50-79. Guards and tackles: 60-79. Defensive linemen: 60-79 and 90-99. Linebackers: 50-59 and 90-99.
Doug Ramsey I see... thanks for help me!
Doug Ramsey they actually just changed the rule like two years ago where linebackers can wear 40-49
In college football it is more laid back with the numbers.
O-line 50-79
Every other position is 1-99. Although i never have seen WR wearing a 50-79 number.
is that siri ?
My number was 33 for a long time
Mine would be how much talent I have: 0
I wear 70
I didn’t know numbers made you look different?
Um..Brett Favre? Lol
Ray Lewis has to be the best one (not shown)
Newton, why choose 1
I am 18 for my football league
I'm #72 cause of the fridge
