    This isn't a solo adventure, you have Mollie with you and, yes, she does set off the cute alarm!! 😉 Enjoy the sun on your shoulders while you can! Mollie sleeps with you in the hammock? Love it! Wish I could take my boxer out on the water, but boxers are notorious for disliking water. Thank you for taking me along on your journey!

    I have only had one chance to come to Canada to canoe and it's been way too long ago. I was in Ontario as well, but not that part. I was near White Otter Lake and Attikokan. I love listening to and watching the loons. They quickly became my favorite bird. Your video is making me want to come back north.

    Thanks for documenting your trip. I was introduced to canoe tripping in the early 60’s at Onondaga Camp near Minden ON. We spent a lot of time in Algonquin and were always taught to never leave a trace. It’s disappointing to see hanging ropes, pans, grills etc left by previous campers. I haven’t been in the park for many years but wherever I go, I try to take out more than I brought in.You have a very special canine companion!

    Absolutely great video!!! Day two, awesome water conditions, great campsite, Great dinner, no fishing!? Loved every minute of the two times I watched it! That area looks so much like Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota I thought I was in my old paddling grounds. The BWCA restricts the number of paddlers allowed in the area so you don't see very many folks and campsites are very dispersed. I would, at times, not see another person for 2 to 4 days. I can't wait to see Episode 2!!!!!!!! BTW: I bet Molly makes a great bunk warmer :)

    I agree it was busy for the opening week this year. A lot of folks anxious to be on the water after the long winter, permits pushed back a couple of times, then pushing into the long weekend- the opening of the canoe season for so many, seemed to make for a log jam of canoeists, and the portage you were walking is a popular one. That said, I've been on those same lakes as you in September and not encountered another paddler. Last year we were on a 10 day trip in May (going in and out from an access point on the west side) and only saw other paddlers over the weekend portion of that trip. In 'busier' months we try to go mid-week to mid-week to beat the weekend crowds. Once, we were there in July, paddling in on a Tuesday, and Ragged Lake was empty as we paddled past campsites on the way through!! Moreso than that for us, we try to go in to more remote access points off of the highway 60 corridor. We've actually been the only car in the lot a few times :)
    I wanted to compliemtent your morning series @ 19:50. That was really nice, captured the feeling of the morning on the lake sweetly. Thanks.
    (Oh, and remember, no cans in the park, probably not a good idea to have them in your video either? )

      @CanoehoundAdventures  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Vikki. Thanks for dropping by and watching. you support is appreciated. I agree that I did go at a busy time forsure and the adventure was nothing less than spectacular. Honestly I was not aware of the can ban because as I mentioned in the video, I do not frequent Algonquin Park... I'm more of a crown land camper. However. I am and have always been a responsible camper (Pack it it... Pack MORE out) has always been my motto.
      Hope to see you back again... Dennis

Interesting to me that the people you did encounter on your second portage were all “older types” .
