The canceling of Google domains really ticked me off. Now all my domains are at squarespace and I'm going to have to pay to move them somewhere else. 🙄
I have a bad luck if buying my first domain just a few months before they announced they're going to kill it. Moving to squarespace cost more than what i buy the domain for. Google, like many other tech companies, gives a project a year or two to gain traction. If after a year or two it's not a hit straight away, they just cancel it and divert resources elsewhere. If it's not a hit straight away, it gets cancelled straight away, no long-term waiting. Same with the Microsoft Duo. Because it wasn’t a hit straight away, Microsoft didn't want to spend money on it, and because Microsoft wasn't spending money on it, people didn't want to buy it, which made Microsoft want to support it less, etc.
