That Pixel Pass fiasco is hilarious and why I’ll never, EVER trust any claim Google makes for its services or hardware. Had its customers pay monthly for a service then discontinued it right before it was time for said service to be provided. Should’ve been sued for fraud.

Google, like many other tech companies, gives a project a year or two to gain traction. If after a year or two it's not a hit straight away, they just cancel it and divert resources elsewhere.
If it's not a hit straight away, it gets cancelled straight away, no long-term waiting.
Same with the Microsoft Duo. Because it wasn’t a hit straight away, Microsoft didn't want to spend money on it, and because Microsoft wasn't spending money on it, people didn't want to buy it, which made Microsoft want to support it less, etc.
