      @Bart Jenkins I do not invest in Apple because they don't seem to care about paying people who make iPhones a liveable wage. For example the suicide nets that were put in place around a building where people were working 18 hours a day to meet the demand of new iPhones every year. It would be pretty naïve of me to think they care of the environment when they don't care about human beings.

    This video basically mentions the issue of greenwashing. Yes, companies, such as the Tech giants, may overexaggerate their future plans of prioritising sustainable development to attract investors but that is a challenge and not something to justify scrapping the idea off entirely.
    One of the interesting parts of ESG and/or sustainable finance is the concept of integrating a company's ESG/sustainability impact into their financial reports to fully understand a company's operations and objectives, whether the SDGs and sustainability is an actual goal or if it was, in fact, a marketing ploy.

    ESG is nightmarish. Locales will be negatively impacted, while a few chosen "winners" will temporarily be shored up, while the long term downtrend of the industry continues. Likely by design, incentivizing to control, subverting both the legislation and economics.

    Key points:
    1.a) Validating how good a company performs under ESG metrics is business itself, therefore could be corrupted (think risk rates before 2008)
    1.b) This might be the new "Non GMO" certification. At the end, it's marketing. Giving the ESG investors what they *want* will ultimately result in better global economies?
    2) What could be a good way to not discriminate companies that don't meet ESG criteria and are not necessarily performing against sustainability but rather are not measurable?

    • @syncaudio2758
      @syncaudio2758 Před rokem

      It’s not sustainable, the EU tryin to make CSRD policies. Requiring many many ESG emissions data from all the suppliers and customers, the cost will make small and medium business go bankrupt. ESG already failed once in Europe when the energy prices peak. Thats not how businesses work, this is going against basic economics, putting economic, social, governance before profits and shareholders. Once the SME’s go bankrupt then big cooperations can swoop in and buy them.

  • @artuselias

    • @differencemaker242
      @differencemaker242 Před 3 lety +1

      Nothing. But if you then deny goods and services to those who don't play along, you are then a tyrant and that is where this scheme is headed. In fact it's already here. That's why everything is racist now. They are dividing and conquering. It's why they hated Trump so much. A man who just wanted to secure the border and bring manufacturing back to his Country. They turned him into the Devil. A man who created more peace in the Middle East than all the Presidents b4 him combined. Why was that man the devil? Because he didn't want to go along with this ESG scheme.
