    Hi, if a legal professional with 10 plus years of experience and also having the PR of canada through various entry programmes (and working in canada) which involves the ECA from wes or others, does applying for NCA means that he has to again approach his indian university for sending transcripts through email to NCA or whether any ECA will work, moreover isn’t there any provision by which NCA can collect or consider the qualifications documents ,for its own evaluation ,from wes or other agencies. It sounds logic actually. Because you know what kind of red tapism is here in india for obtaining various documents , certificates

    I hold my LLB degree from Delhi University India, I am planning to move to Canada, though I do not intend to litigate. My expertise is in Contract Drafting/reviewing.
    So am I also required to give exams for NCA assessment ?

    • @mshappyfeet7168
      @mshappyfeet7168  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, even if you want to become a solicitor and work in the corporate sector, to become a lawyer you will have to complete the NCAs and the lawyer licensing process in Canada. If you are not too concerned about getting a lawyer’s title, you may also look into becoming a paralegal which will allow you to draft agreements and court documents, however, you will need to complete a paralegal course and exam for that too!

    • @mshappyfeet7168
      @mshappyfeet7168  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! It is an either/or situation, you can either complete your NCA exams separately or pursue an LLM common law program where you opt for your NCA courses as part of your LLM common law program! You do not have to do both. In order to become a lawyer in Canada as a foreign trained lawyer you will have to complete the NCA exams (mandatory), complete the Bar exams (mandatory), and complete your experiential training/Articling. There are alternatives to Articling like LPP if you are in Ontario or an option to waive or abridge the Articling but I would not recommend waiver of Articling as you get to learn a lot through the process!

    • @mshappyfeet7168

      To the best of my knowledge, they only need your LLB transcripts! I was pursuing my LLM in India when I applied for the assessment and only submitted my LLB transcripts to my recollection, but it has been 5 years! You should be able to see the documents you need to provide to NCA, once you complete the application for NCA assessment.

    • @mshappyfeet7168
      @mshappyfeet7168  Před 3 lety

      According to the NCA website.. all it says is a letter of good standing from a bar association or bar council is required, confirming the date when you were called to the bar. So I believe a letter from state bar council should work too! I provided a letter from BCI to be on a safer side but that was 5 years ago, I would suggest joining one the Facebook NCA groups which has members from all over the world, I am pretty sure you will find someone who can answer your question for sure! Or you simply write to NCA and ask them! nca.legal/process/application/

    I am from hyderabad telangana, am 32 years old now. Currently I am pursuing my LL.b degree on regular basis and am going to complete in 2021(april) where I secured 62%.
    But I have completed my graduation in 2008 before I joining LLB in 2018, from 2009 to till date I have worked with different organizations (HSBC and bank of America)....
    My question is am i eligible for LLM in common law programs in peter allard or osgoode law colleges.

    • @mshappyfeet7168
      @mshappyfeet7168  Před 3 lety +1

      Your law degree is very recent so I am pretty sure you would be eligible, for LLM there is no age criteria! However your percentage might b an issue, most universities expect you to have 70% and above but if you can put forth a strong application with your work experience, any community services, and other achievements, it might work! If you have a doubt about that, the best way to find out is to write directly to the admission’s department and explain to them your grades and and maybe also that for a 3 yr law degree 62% is a good standing, and they will tell you whether you should apply! But the age part or the gap between your undergraduate degree and law degree shouldn’t be a problem!

      It’s a similar process but the purpose is very different so the NCA assessment won’t help you with PR! I that’s what you are asking!! :)

      @@mshappyfeet7168 My ECA was helped me only for getting PR nothing else. Now I have to do NCA. 😏 Little tough to manage all those things specially from Canada.

      I get it! But unfortunately that is how it is.. if you want to become a lawyer in Canada NCA is a must!!
