you can always heat set the speedball ink in the oven for 30 minutes at 350 degrees to make it dishwasher and hand wash safe
do you have to use a non food oven to do this?
I love this. I like to heat the vinyl with a blow dryer and then let it cool. It helps the adhesive stick better. It keeps the etching cream from leaking under the vinyl.
Omg, that's a great idea.
Thank you for sharing that
So grateful you shared that tip, thanks so much!!!
Great tip! Thanks for sharing. What heat setting do you use?
Awesome idea!
Love this! I've been etching for years and use a popsicle stick, spread it on over the design one time and let it sit for 10 minutes then rinse. No problems and you don't risk moving the design. 😉
I had to let you know..I started cricut as a hobby and watched you from day one. I was cruising youtube and found you. Because of you and what a awesome teacher you are I have been able to move into a small business style. I can't say how much I'm thankful that you take time out to teach others. You have a gift and you are using it amazingly!! I know this is a older video because I watch yours on my free time at night lol..thank you and "keep doing you boo!" Thank you thank you!
I'm so happy to hear that!! That really made my day!! Thank you!
Great as always .
Newbies using etching cream, always make sure not to accidentally move of the vinyl when moving cream around .
( learned through my own mistake).
Happy crafting.
You have no idea!! I was just thinking about making stencils to use to decorate sugar cookies for my wedding!! I didn't know about the slicing thing! You saved me a ton of time and stress thank you 😊
This is coming right on time just got a order for 50 wine glasses to be etched.
Thank you for this and the members that let you know about this... Never knew I could etch ceramic coffee cups.
Learned something new. Did not know you could etch on a coffee mug! Game changer! Thank you for your crafting ideas!!!!
Oh My Goodness! I’m so so Glad I found you 🥰 I got Cricut in 2020 and it is still in box ☹️ Once I got it Opened box and got so much anxiety I put it back in box and away in my closet. You make it so easy to use Explain everything step by step that I will be bringing my Cricut out Today 😁 Thank you so much🥰
Same! Made my first design this week following the directions - a name on a tumbler. Thanks Michael.
I etched a black Dollar Tree mug back in July! Looked great! I like to put my mugs in the microwave to heat up coffee and hot cocoa, so I do not like using vinyl..... etching was a great option!
Question...Doesn't etching remove the glaze on the mug so it's not waterproof anymore right? I love this idea. I know I've had some plates that the glaze cracked & even though I hand washed them they still had water get into the ceramic.
Love the tip to add slits to the bottom of the stencil. So helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thx, Michael. You make crafting with cut files & numerous media SO accessible, love you for your generosity, creativity & excellent teaching skills.
