  • 2022 Genesis G70 Sport Prestige Review.
    Back with an all new look, the G70 is here to prove to us that you don't have to buy a German luxury sedan to receive a nice balance of performance and comfort. Being one of the more affordable options in this segment, the 2022 Genesis G70 just might the most well balanced car on the market today? Can it give BMW or Mercedes Benz a run for their money? Let's find out!
    Huge thank you to Genesis of Arlington in Arlington, MA for providing the G70 for this review!

    Drove this a few times, and it really reminds me of what made the ATS so good and what had made the G35 so good. The G70 might not be as fast as a 340i, but the chassis dynamics and steering feel impressed more than the 3 Series and Audi S4

    It's a beautifully designed car! I had the previous 2.0T genesis G70 and it was great.
    This new facelifted Genesis G70 with 3.3L V6 twin turbo is another level and I just upgraded it. It's a real rocketship 🚀 sports + is only on tracks in my view. Comfort and sports delivers more than enough power and drive safe 👌

    This refresh transformed the G70 imo. It made it more mature. I would recommend this over the Stinger unless someone absolutely needs the space from the Stinger's hatch and I have a Stinger. Another great assessment.

    Great review! Can someone ask Genesis why they didn't include the 3D gauge cluster on this refresh for North America? Every other model in the Genesis lineup has this feature as an option!

    • @KevinSmith-qi5yn
      @KevinSmith-qi5yn Před 2 lety +1

      I'll answer that in a few ways. First, the G80 was designed for the gauge cluster. The G70 is a refresh and ultimately was not designed to include it. It also targets a completely different segment of buyers. A G80 was probably targeted towards the experience. The G80 probably wants to enhance comfort, ease driving, and have gimmicks that separate it from its competitors. The G70 was probably targeted towards simplicity with a luxury trim. Proven and timeless technology is what is targeted.

    • @brysal100
      @brysal100 Před 2 lety +1

      @@KevinSmith-qi5yn this is actually not correct. the G70 has the digital cluster in Korea and canada also received it. a better guess would be due to the chip shortages so they cut back in some areas

      Reviewers and enthusiasts keep raving about shooting brakes and wagons, but they don't seem to put their money where their mouths are when it comes time to buying - sales numbers for those who have offered them have been abysmal. I just bought a G70 3.3T SP last week, I would have chosen the Shooting Brake version if it had been offered at a price within $2K... but would have been challenged to justify more.

    The dual light design and grill is 🤮
    While the Koreans have improved their Kia Hyundai brand by bringing VW AG designers in a few years ago, I just don’t think they’re going to have as many dealerships as the big 3 German brands. nor will people paying 40k+ for a vehicle be eager to walk thru the same doors that a Forte or Accent shopper walks thru

  • @horridohobbies
    @horridohobbies Před 2 lety

    I have to be honest, I don't like the refresh. It doesn't appeal to me aesthetically.
    First, that crest grille is yuck. The split headlamps are inelegant (they should stretch around much further). The pre-refresh G70 looked much better.
    And I miss the fog lamps.
    Second, I like that the pre-refresh G70 could be mistaken for a Bentley or Aston Martin. Borrowing aesthetic sensibilities from other brands is a Good Thing.
    Third, the rear end of the refreshed G70 is butt ugly (pun intended). The pre-fresh G70 looked much better.
    Fourth, the refreshed gauge cluster, which is half physical and half digital, is unappealing. Make it all-physical or all-digital but *don't* do half and half. (The blind spot imaging could've been placed in the center display.)
    Fifth, I liked the boomerang side vents on the pre-refresh G70. They gave the car a unique look. The refreshed G70 loses that uniqueness and could be mistaken for any other Genesis model.
    The 2022 G70 is still an excellent vehicle but it'll never get the same kind of love from me as in the pre-refresh G70.
