    Thank you for the interesting review. Some questions come to mind :
    1) Will you test the shooting bake version ?
    2) Have you heard something about à BEV version of the G70, ideally as a shooting brake? Now that would give the Germans concern, because it competes directly with a 3 series or a C-Class that have yet to come out in BEV form, if they come as beloved Kombis at all. I'm not counting the G80, because we still don't know if and when it will come to Europe
    3) Would you say that Genesis has reached Lexus standards ? Because their benchmark aren't the Germans [no offense], it's the Japanese...

  • @sic22l
    @sic22l Před 2 lety +3

    As much as I like the facelifted G70 (especially inside) it has one major flaw - option policy. In every proper premium brand you can combine (almost) every option with every trim, every drivetrain, every wheel style etc. you can spec a car that is truly yours. Not in Genesis - base Premium variant is RWD only, Luxus spec is AWD only even if you don't want it (it compromises steering/cornering and increases fuel consumption). Same with interior trims - Premium has loads of piano black (which scratches even while looking at it) instead of aluminium which is not even an option. Why?

    • @cliftoncheng2003
      @cliftoncheng2003 Před 2 lety

      Yeah it's super annoying. It's different for each market though. Maybe that's how they do it for the European market. Here in Canada (and I assume the rest of North America), we don't get to chose anything. The car comes in 3 trims for the 2.0t engine, and 2 trims for the 3.3tt engine. However, the second trim up (the Advanced trim) already has aluminum in genuine leather. The Prestige trim which is the one I have, has the Napa Leather, power liftgate, passenger walk in device, heads up display, etc... It's a shame that Genesis doesn't make their cars more customizable, as I would have wanted the sport package with my 2.0t engine, but it's not offered here in Canada.
      The Genesis Korea website on the other hand is FULLY customizable from interior trim to the colours, leather options, interior, wheels, sunroofs, etc. I don't think that it's super fair that the cars are only customizable in Korea, especially since Genesis is trying to become a bigger mainstream fighter.

    • @minkukim
      @minkukim Před 2 lety

      This is interesting because in Korea, we can select every single option providing some thousands of combinations. However, we always get German cars in one or two preset trims only. It could have to do with where these cars are built. For the Korean market, all the German cars come directly from Germany. So perhaps in markets where Genesis factory is not nearby, the cars would be simply shipped from Korea preset with certain options.

    • @cliftoncheng2003
      @cliftoncheng2003 Před 2 lety +1

      @@minkukim that’s interesting. For the Canadian market, European and North American brands are extremely customizable, whereas Asian brands are far less customizable. For example, Toyota and Honda vehicles are barely customizable. Similar to Hyundai/Kia they have set trims that customers can chose from, and that’s about it.

I have had terrible service experiences at both Hyundai dealers in my area. They are even subpar compared to the Chevy, Honda and Nissan dealers in the area. So how is the sport line exhaust considered real, while the luxury line is fake? Both have the exact same pipes, with decorative ends. The only difference is that the tips of the sport were attached to the pipe, while the tips of the luxury were part of the bumper. Sure the later look more outrageous, but the principle is the same. I'll have to start a "defund the Autogefuhl Fake Exhaust Police" petition soon.
