Hard to believe that the #GenesisG70 has been on sale in America for two years already. For 2022, ‪@GenesisUSA‬ is giving the #G70 a very extensive overhaul with new styling front and rear and an upgraded 10..25" touch screen inside. The new #G70Sport still comes with a powerful 3.3L twin-turbo V6, now making up to 368 HP with the optional sport exhaust system, while its RWD platform it shares with the #KiaStinger will allow for some hilarious tail out shenanigans whenever your right foot demands it.

Great review! I just bought the Sport Advanced (rather than Prestige shown here) a month ago. I LOVE this car! Perfect combination of sport and luxury, and just sexy in my opinion. I did look at the German cars online, however I didn't go test drive them. On paper, they were mostly more money or less engine (or both). Plus, I just like to drive "something different". I looked at the Infiniti Q50 (and 60), Acura TLX (S wasn't out yet but is a few $K more), Cadillac CT5V, Kia Stinger, Lexus IS350 F Sport. I had originally seen the 2021 G70 and wasn't impressed with the interior screen and body styling, it just looked too much like all the other sport sedans out there. When I saw the '22 model, I was in awe. I definitely get a lot of "nice car! what is it?" comments...which I love.

I live in Vancouver, Canada and just had the GV70 w/ 3.5TT overnight and totally fell in luv with it.
Its a Luxury CrossOver that has plenty of power. It won't outperform the more sportier Benz GLC 63S AMG power & torque nor the X3 M 40i, or the Macan Turbo but the LUXURY (quieter & smoother ride) and the VALUE Proposition will have you thinking a few times over if the German options are really worth it for the extra cost. GV70 has the edge in my books b/c of the Ext & Int styling PLUS high level of materials used in the Int as top notch. I like to invest my money whenever possible and change out my daily every 5-10 yrs.
This GV 70 has many Luxury features, new updated interior, that ext styling and enuf power (less than 5 seconds 0-60) to have tons of fun with. Its exceptionally quiet in the cabin and in Comfort mode it really is a smooth ride.
If ur comparing the GV70 to the Germans you will be blown away with all the luxury standard features (Drivers side massaging seats, front heated & cooled seats, that massive center screen, the move forward & back option on the key fob, massive sunroof & moon roof, AWESOME sound system, all the safety features, etc...) It really does offer an AWESOME VALUE vs the Germans. PLUS the scheduled maintenance for 5 yrs is INCLUDED!!!
the price in Canada for a full load with the interior CF trim, 360 camera, quilted leather, etc is $75,500 including F&PDI. Just pay taxes and doc fee.
    I'm VERY Very impressed:-)
Now, do I choose the non latest interior and refreshed exterior G70 sedan which is a little quicker but the rear leg & head room is tighter or opt for the roomier, up to date & latest interior GV70 that soaks up speed bumps & road imperfections that is also much more quieter, but about $10K more cost?
    Fantastic VALUE options either way.
    Cheers from Vancouver.

I like reading the comments. Especially the ones from the complainers.
Why don't Genesis do this, why don't they put this.
If Genesis did everything that the complainers want, the vehicle would be too expensive.
If you desire a V8, go to their competition.
Genesis is offering this. If you desire more, that's why they have competitors.
No manufacturer is going to satisfy everyone.

For a vehicle characterized as at the top of the heap among sport sedans, the actual sales of the G70 have been dismal. When it was introduced in 2019 dealers in the US sold nearly 12,000 vehicles, slightly fewer than the closely related KIA Stinger (14,000). In 2020 sales of the G70 dropped 21% to about 9400 units. Not especially surprising given the effects of the pandemic on auto sales. Still, the G70 suffered more than most other vehicles including the Stinger (12,500 sales) . Unfortunately, sales of the G70 in 2021 have shown little signs of recovery with only 4800 sales in the first six months of this year.
So what has Genesis done to address the weak sales of the G70? Except for some improvements in eye candy (e.g. a larger infotainment screen) and some changes in the exterior styling the answer is almost nothing. The back seat and trunk space are still cramped compared to its rivals. Even worse, they've left the 2.0L 4 cylinder engine in the entry level G70. KIA, on the other hand, with sales of the Stinger nearly as weak as the G70, has replaced the 2.0L engine the Stinger had shared with the G70 with the 2.5L turbo in the GT-Line entry model. That's surprising considering how widely deployed the 2.5L turbo 4 is among KIA, Hyundai and Genesis vehicles. (It's even the base engine offered in the GV70 SUV and the larger G80 sedan.) In the Stinger, the new engine has improved 0-60 performance to about 5.2 to 5.5 seconds compared to the 2.0L version of about six and a half seconds. With the new engine the Stinger is as little as half a second slower than the 0-60 time of the Stinger GT1/GT2 model reported to be about 4.7 seconds.
The G70's problem in terms of sales is fairly easy to identify. The base version is so unappealing that it's outsold substantially by the V6 twin turbo version. It's not surprising to see Genesis drop the MT in the base version of the G70. Like most automakers the take rate for a manual transmission is so low that it's unprofitable to offer it. What is surprising is that Genesis has done almost nothing to address the slow sales of the G70 base model as it eliminated the only feature of the G70 4 cylinder model that could be said to appeal to "enthusiasts."
Self-styled "enthusiasts" may not care that the G70 base model hasn't been improved. And Genesis may have felt that improving the performance of the base model would cannibalize sales of the more expensive, more profitable twin turbo V6 models. But KIA apparently recognizes that even in niche markets, sales of entry level models provide a revenue base that supports offering higher performance models. BMW, Mercedes Benz, and Audi all recognize that. Genesis apparently does not.

I like your reviews. As one who is mourning the loss of cars with manual transmissions, I am requesting that when you review cars, please comment on whether the auto has a manual mode and whether it will hold gears without auto intervention and shift up and down on demand. For me, a car must have a true, controllable manual mode auto to be seriously considered.

Excellent car. Seems to have just about everything. Good looks and great performance. The only thing that disappoints a little, is that just stepping on the gas from a dead start seems to have a slight bog or lag before getting into full acceleration. I do understand that using launch assist is popular these days, but just stabbing the gas pedal from a dead stop is the way we always used to do it. I still have my 2017 Buick LaCrosse with it's 310 horsepower 3.6 V6, and while it much slower, only hitting 60 in about 5.8 seconds, it has no lag and lights up the front tires instantly if traction control is off and sometimes even when it's on. I'm considering trading in my LaCrosse for a G70 when I make my last LaCrosse payment in August, but wish the G70 had that instant response off the line like my Buick has. Possibly it's due to Turbo lag, since my Buick isn't Turbo assisted. Also I would miss my 30 -33 mpg that I get out on the road with my Buick. My overall average in the Buick over 60,000 miles is 27.8 mpg, but lower in town. Really wish the G70 could match that, but the increase in acceleration in the G70 would be well worth it. Beautiful car.
