I know this is a response to a 1 year old post, but I would like to say that Woolzy was never meant to be a Star Gate regular. Robert Picardo was hired to do one episode, but the episode was truing out to need a part two. The writers liked the Doc he played on Star Trek and wanted Robert Picardo to play Woolzy, so Robert never had to read for the part as he had to do for Star Trek. It was just going to be a one off job and his character would not be back. It turned out the crew and writers all like him, because he could nail his lines and do hard to shoot scenes in one or very few takes. So now they wanted him to be a regular, but wold not let him know. They would bring him back from time to time to make his character less hated by fans. Every time he returned, they wrote it so he would advance the character to eventually be on the show. Robert Picardo did not know this at the time. In 2006, they called him and told him that they wanted his character to be full time and in charge. Robert said the character was not unlikable, but was hated. They said, "Let that be our problem.", and so Robert said Yes, to becoming full time on Star Gate. Robert said the stages of his character was that he was a Scumbag, then he came back and was a Scumbag and he knew people did not like him. Then he was a Scumbag that knew people did not like him and he realized he was a Scumbag. Then he became a Scumbag that people did not like and he knew he was a Scumbag, but also wished he was not a Scumbag.... or something like that. All this time, he did not know they wanted his character to be full time. It was not until the call in 2006 that they explained what they had been doing and made him the offer for his character to be in charge of Star Gate.

@@Shiirow I would agree with you oh, except for the fact that Vala clearly makes purchases when she goes shopping with Sam which can't possibly all have been subsidized by Sam.
Teal'c eventually picks up a senior NCO rank, so I imagine he's paid from that point. I imagine they probably would also find paying Vala less problematic than a bunch of nuisances caused with her nicking things. I've been generally more interested to know whether all stargate teams count as perpetually deployed and on hazard pay (even the SGC is a hazardous work place!), rather than the admin nightmare of them jumping in and out of deployment status a couple of times a week.
As non-military members of the SGC Daniel, Jonas, Vala and Teal'c would likely be considered civilian employees and provided with a government salary based on a GS level. There would also be stipends for hazard pay etc. Obviously cover identities would have to be made for the aliens. Alternately they could be considered government contractors and paid according to their abilities and responsibilities which could be negotiated. While not holding a military rank they obviously have responsibilities and authority of military officers and are usually addressed as "Sir" or "Ma'am" by enlisted personnel.
I hope it has actual Vala. Her character was excellent, and it would be so great to see how she is fairing in the SGC these days. I imagine she was rather involved in the public disclosure event.
Daniel's response to him covering her: But oooooff course I will. With that said, I do wonder what sort of pay they can do for her. Would she be getting an above-board salary? What kind of paperwork does she need to sign? The usual tax forms or something more?
Surely they figured all that out about nine years earlier when Teal'c first went on the books. And again with Jonas. By the time Vala joins, there'd be a premade form specifically for alien SGC members.
I'm curious Vala was a host to Qetesh does she have a scar, where it entered her it would be on her neck right? I know the Tok'ra freed her which is awesome but just wondering?
Show had another 4 seasons easy in it. With Gen O'Neill running SGC and the rest it would have been epic. Shame they killed it. Atlantis had another 5 seasons easy. Universe was awesome and another 5 seasons easy.
The soldiers, did she really pass the psiquiatric evaluation? She did, it requires special mentalities outside of the norm, how else could they take a protestor ----JOKE but really, the soldiers
Vala was great. But she needed to be turned down in every respect from a 10 to a 6. Then she would be tolerable. Like in this scene, the sexual advances comment is funny, but she just had to keep pushing it and pushing it.... Always WAY over the line. 10 to a 6.
Been re-watching SG1 9th and 10th season. I always found O'Neill's one-note cynical shtick in previous seasons too tedious, and I always thought that 9th and 10th seasons that brought "fresh blood" from Farscape ended being more lively and just better in terms of writing (though still not as good as Farscape). Besides, I find Ori story arc more intellectually AND philosophically fascinating than battling a bunch of parasite-infested and culturally stagnant descendants from ancient Egypt. Some ideas that were introduced were rather poignant - for example, Daniel's observation that almost every culture in human history used to worship fire until there was a paradigm shift - primarily due Judeo-Christian tradition, and fire worship became associated with the demonic, while water / liquid (including things like Baptism and anointment of kings with oils) became indicative of spiritual advancement - indeed a fascinating observation! This switch is rather easy to understand - fire stands for raw power - over animals, over circumstances (you can cook your food, etc.). Ancient Jews recognized that power alone does not suffice for Godliness, and every Jew knows that the first attribute of God is "Creator", and fire does not create anything; It is the water that creates (life). If a devout Muslim was watching SG1, they also would have though Ori demonic - jinn, composed of "smokeless fire"... What I also ponder- how much of this show and shows like this has infiltrated subconscious of simpletons that later manifested itself in various conspiracy theories about secret space fleets, alien contract that already happened, etc. Ideas are infectious - probably more than viruses, and it will suffice one idiot to plant a compelling idea that will tap into deeply held wishful thinking and could then grow into malignant nonsense that spreads like a bush fire - just think of QAnon nonsense. So many grown up people believe it, though, admittedly, most of them never went to college and lack proper education. There is also the aspect at grasping at every straw in the light of such supreme incompetence of Trump who - I think- everyone knows already - is not a good person, never was and never will be. Regardless, I like SG1, but I just wonder how much SG1 contributed to the rise of some stupid conspiracy theories.... Cheers!

Cool
Hey its the doctor from star trek Voyager
Cryton and Erin a good combo.
I hope the new Amazon Stargate miniseries has a Vala-type character!
I hope it has actual Vala. Her character was excellent, and it would be so great to see how she is fairing in the SGC these days. I imagine she was rather involved in the public disclosure event.
THAT IS IN FACT CHLOE FRAZER
Daniel's response to him covering her: But oooooff course I will.
With that said, I do wonder what sort of pay they can do for her. Would she be getting an above-board salary? What kind of paperwork does she need to sign? The usual tax forms or something more?
Surely they figured all that out about nine years earlier when Teal'c first went on the books. And again with Jonas. By the time Vala joins, there'd be a premade form specifically for alien SGC members.
It is a shame she wan't given an outfit similar to Elvira!
Claudia Black was our version of Mae West !
Is it wrong to want to pull her pigtails? Gently of course…
I'm curious Vala was a host to Qetesh does she have a scar, where it entered her it would be on her neck right? I know the Tok'ra freed her which is awesome but just wondering?
Might be why she keeps her hair long.
Did any other Farscape actors guest on the show?
That joke hasn't aged well.
Morrigan
Не уходите пожалуйста Valla
EverVerse is not just a motto...
They needed a sexy brunette, along with a blonde, Sam, they had a “Betty and Veronica” 🤪
Vala and Daniel make a good couple
We need a very best of Vala video.
She did, it requires special mentalities outside of the norm, how else could they take a protestor ----JOKE but really, the soldiers
wonder how many times they had to shoot that scene after everybody collapsed laughing
Vala was the most valuable, worthless character in the entire show.
Please dont state the nature of the sexual harassment emergency 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Vala was great. But she needed to be turned down in every respect from a 10 to a 6. Then she would be tolerable. Like in this scene, the sexual advances comment is funny, but she just had to keep pushing it and pushing it.... Always WAY over the line. 10 to a 6.
Vaal was the worst thing they did to the show.
Claudia Black is amazing, but Vala was easily the second worst thing to happen to Stargate SG-1.
Ok, no one else has asked and morbid curiosity has dug in, so I'll ask; what was the first worst thing to happen to sg1?
farsuck crew
Cheers!
The ossified spot dentsply chop because twilight consistently delay via a rabid opinion. well-to-do, valuable peace
2 min long video. 4min off commercials. Let me just dislike this. Ok done.
