  • I made this to show how to remove and reinstall the trunk. I hope there's some useful information in here and that it answers some questions.
    I also hope it is coherent, cohesive and makes sense, as I was interrupted about every 43 seconds while I was editing the video.

    I have always kept the lids open when I remove or reinstall the trunk on my Springfield. Just to be careful and avoid scratching the top edge of the lids.
    Your Pursuit is a beautiful bike! Thank you for all of the reviews and information.

    All the wires tuck up nicely in the supplied cubby in the rear of the seat. Don’t be afraid to push them all in and then shut the little rubber cover. Works perfectly

      I tried that the first time I took the trunk off, the wires didn't want to push in easily and I didn't want to just jam them in. I do this stuff for a living, forcing things usually ends with breaking things.

    On my 2019 RM the wiring harness tucks neatly into the back of the seat indian. This was a big selling point for me since I greatly appreciate the thoughtfulness in the design of such a small thing!

      I was slightly disappointed with that as well, but I prefer to keep the tour pack on and have no plans to remove it again, so it's a non- issue for me. But still could have been designed better so it's not such a pain for people who prefer to ride without it and only use it occasionally for longer trips.

    You do have a beautiful Pursuit Fenriz! Too much chrome for me but hey, to each his own. Who makes your saddlebag lights? Are they turn/break/illumination? If they are not Indian then who did you get them from? Thanks. EDIT: I should have read the comments completely. Custom Dynamics. My bad!

    • @fenrizwulf6682
      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem

      The bag lights are run/turn/brake lights. I'll try to make a quick video of them in operation soon. On camera they usually look like they're not on due to the frame rate of the camera, but I might be able to fix that by changing the settings in the camera.

  • @steveh7108

    I sure wish Indian would get their act together and finally make those quick-release bags and trunk. Then I could sell my BMW and finally by Indian.
    With the BMW, the ability to quickly remove the trunk and saddlebags is a huge game changer. And that is even with remote locking throughout all the compartments even the glove compartments.
    When you spend that kind of money for a bike, it's nice to be able to strip it down easily and quickly so you can use it daily as a run around.
    Or even a sportbike on the curves.
    The pursuit and Challenger have great potential but they need to have that feature to make it totally versatile. Not to mention taking them off to go into a motel room is another huge advantage.

    • @fenrizwulf6682
      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem +2

      The trunk can come off pretty fast, if you leave the security screws out. The bags may have a quick release option, but I'm not sure. I took my time about it in the video to be sure I got the whole process, but the trunk can be off in about 40 seconds if you don't use the security screws on the latches that hold it on.

      @@fenrizwulf6682 I will have to go to the dealer and take a closer look and see if they can demonstrate. But I don't think it is anything close to quick release that I am accustomed to.

    This was a great and educational video, it popped up since I was researching the Pursuit. I don't currently have an Indian, my tourer is a '18 Grand America and I keep the Trunk on it. There are some guys that modify the GA's Trunk to be a QR.
    I had a couple of Victorys; I installed the QR Backrest / Luggage Rack on my Cross County and kept the bolt in since it was not coming back off the bike and it would have been an easy steal.
    Just to finally get to my point, are people really stealing Trunks? I don't live in a area with much crime in AZ, but I do travel to / through some crappy places, including Cali.

    • @fenrizwulf6682
      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem +1

      Not only are trunks being stolen more, but side bags too, and whole motorcycles are being stolen more than ever before. Keep your bike locked up.

      @@fenrizwulf6682 On a Phoenix trip, my BMW was locked with the alarm on parked on a street by a nursing home. I let my guard down and my leather jacket walked away, but my helmet was still there. I could have easily made two trips and left my gear in the lobby. My hotel was walking distance to a cycle gear. I’m about a 5X, but I found a hoodie style with body armor. I was actually cold for the 200 miles home with the seat and grip heaters on. I was actually waiting for a cop to take an abuse report for my friend at the rest home. I told the cop to not even bother with my issue. No security cameras were in that area.
      I could imagine filing a Trunk theft report with the cops for a few hundred dollars, misc electrical stuff and the .45 Glock that is a no go in a lot of States.
      Thanks for the info, I’m almost done rambling and yes, if I have to leave my gear on the bike, I have plenty of cable locks for 2 Helmets and 2 Jackets and etc.

    I’m looking into getting the Pursuit or the challenger. I like everything about the pursuit my question is the antenna on the Pursuit if I take the trunk off I’m assuming that I can not listen to the radio because the antenna is off so is there another antenna connection somewhere or your just limited to Bluetooth with the trunk off

    • @fenrizwulf6682
      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem +1

      There's a relocation kit that moves the antenna to the same place as on a Challenger, but without that there's no antenna with the trunk off.

    Are your bag lights genuine Indian or Custom Dynamics?

    • @fenrizwulf6682
      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem

      Custom Dynamics. I think they're better looking than the Indian ones and I know they're brighter. When you see them on camera during the day, it looks like all the rear lights are off because of the frame rate of the camera. Maybe I'll make a quick video of the rear lights at a different frame rate at some point...

      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem

      It has 4,000 miles on it now, and it has been reliable. No issues so far. It starts hard when the outside air temperature is at or below 45°F but I think a better battery will fix that. Indian puts cheap batteries in the bikes.

      @fenrizwulf6682  Před rokem +1

      If you don't put the security bolts back in, the tour pack comes off pretty fast and easy, but dealing with the wires is still a pain and you lose the radio antenna with the tour pack removed. Overall not a bad design, just not as well executed as it could have been, which is still disappointing.

    • @steveh7108
      @steveh7108 Před rokem

      Exactly. They really should have made an effort to making the bags and the trunk quick release.
      The BMW you can take off the saddlebags in 15 seconds and the trunk maybe about a minute.
      No reason in the world that a brand new expensive model like this makes it so difficult to remove the trunk or the bags. I'm really close to buying the pursuit but I really hate the idea of not being able to remove these things when I want to for a quick ride or run around town.
