2009 Fat Boy post repair road test
This bike was a nightmare right from the start. It had been sitting at another shop for 4 years. It was at that shop because it wasn't running right. It barely ran and wouldn't idle when it came to us. I replaced the intake manifold seals, fuel injector o-rings and MAP sensor to fix the vacuum leaks and idle issue. The charging system was not working due to the stator being burned up, so I replaced the stator, rotor and voltage regulator. While I had the primary opened up I found that the shift lever at the transmission was worn out and the shift shaft was leaking, so I replaced those. I also replaced the inner primary seal on the transmission input shaft and the inner primary to engine case seal. The derby cover was damaged so it got a new derby cover and gasket once the primary was back together and filled with oil. I inspected the wiring on that runs under the gas tank because the customer was concerned with a wiring issue due to the flickering headlight, no issues there, the headlight itself is broken (cheap Chinese LED light from the internet). I replaced both tires. I extended all the wiring for the handlebars, replaced the throttle cables, clutch cable, and front brake line and bled the front brake as part of installing new, taller, handle bars and new grips and internally wired the new bars. I also fixed the rear suspension as the rear shocks had loosened up and were practically falling out of the bike. This all took almost two months due to diagnostic time, waiting for customer approval for the work, and most of all, the time it took for parts to arrive.
I'm glad that the customer was patient and understanding. He was happy to finally have his bike back and rode it for several hours before it died on him later that same day. It'll be waiting for me when I get to work Tuesday. Even with all the work I did to fix it up, it's still a 15-year-old bike...

I can't remember for sure, but I think that this was a 2014 model. Either way, it's a Harley-Davidson Road King and I had just replaced the front tire. I road test every bike, to be sure there's no tire vibration or any other issues before returning them to the customer.

Just a quick road test after changing the tires. I had never ridden one of these before, and I wasn't sure what to expect. It's a fun little bike, but I think I'll stick with a conventional clutch and manual transmission. Recorded 11 July 2024

it's winter here, my balls enjoy the rear cylinder warmth
Typical fucking cheap ass Harley shit. Buy a Harley buy a back up motor with someone elses parts
Hi Mr Wülf, there's a 2015 Victory Cross Roads for sale on a social media site here, it's doneonl 695 miles, the seller had just sitting in his conservatory, obviously it's like brand new & they're asking $12000, in your opinion is this a good price, as I know nothing much about Victory, many thanks in advance 👍
It was worth that much, 2 or 3n years ago. But with a flooded used bike market right now, that price is pretty high. 8,000 is probably closer to the right number. Victory made really excellent motorcycles, but this bike is 10 years old and has very low miles, so you can expect a lot of problems like oil leaks from dried out seals, and fuel system problems from old fuel going bad in the fuel tank. Bikes don't like to sit around unused.
@fenrizwulf6682 good advice, many thanks Fenriz👍👍
love the content keep it up
Nice ride along 👌
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
Time to bust out the pocket flathead
I broke out the truing stand and spoke wrench. It's like new again.
hehe
There is a way to deactivate this. You mentioned it the video that because the Challenger is water cooled it should be fine?
Yes. It can be turned off on all the Indian heavies, how you turn it off varies by model. It can be turned off on the Harley-Davidsons as well. The Challenger and Pursuit being fully liquid cooled, I don't see any real need for cylinder deactivation on them. I keep it turned off on my Pursuit and the coolant temp hits about 208 and the fan comes on and that's as hot as it gets, even in traffic on a 115° day. Which is pretty common here in the summer.
Thanks for the invite. You must be in Arizona?
is this why the Indian Challenger sounds like a sewing machine when is at idle?
Could be, but it's probably just because stock pipes are too quiet.
@@fenrizwulf6682 😁
The best motorcycle!😊
Rented that model a number of years ago, ever since I fell in love with that model too. Wish they made it again.
I'm a Rinehart 4.5 fan. Have them on my 2020 Electra glide standard. Rumbles sweet and too loud. That OK with me.
Those are nice too, and they do sound good.
I've got the Cobra neighbor haters on my road king with the baffles out just about little too loud for me but I enjoy the sound good luck my friend hope you achieve what you're trying to do
Those are good sounding pipes. With no baffles they are pretty loud, but they still sound good.
Very helpful tutorial
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful.
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved
Ah work!!
It would be interesting to see the work you're doing on the bikes
I'd film at work if I could, but it just takes too much time. I do have a few video playlists of work being done on my main channel page. Maybe I can do a few time-lapse videos at work or something in the future....
Hope you had a good Memorial Day, my friend. Catch you later.
Man that's a great video thanks for showing us the motor it's dose look jack up for sure have a nice day
I wish I had time to film a bit more at work, but jobs take longer when filming, so unfortunately all I get is a few minutes of cell phone video now and then and the occasional post- repair road test.
Good thing your boss owns the shop. He's going to need money to keep his daily / racer running. When you build a race engine you need to build it from scratch, not piece-meal.
He wasn't really trying to build a race engine and really didn't know any better. He was... misinformed or misled by former employees that didn't know what they were doing.
Everybody wants to wait till the last minute and then wanted it yesterday have a good evening
That bike jumps! Pop a wheely 😁
It's an animal, but my Pursuit is more of an animal. I wouldn't wheelie a customer's bike... not intentionally anyway.
Sounds great! Love the evos
Thanks! I like them too, and nothing sounds like an Evo.
Great way to get to work riding a motorcycle but I don't know if I would make it 😅😅😅
It's pretty tough to stop and go to work some days.
Road bikes all my life with no windshield. Now I'm spoiled. I couldn't imagine riding without 1.
Good ride. I've been slacking on watching videos,
It's riding season. You're riding your own rather than watching videos.
Nice glad you got her straighten out my friend
Does anyone who what’s the pipe called right above that one?
Teeniest mirrors ever!
Glad you're able to work on what you enjoy now. Not an M8 fan either. My Evo sporty will probably outlast me.
Love them RK's, as well.
Did you replace the plug wires just Curious?
I didn't replace the plug wires. They were in good shape, so there was no need.
Even after torquing the flange bolts down for the intake manifold, the manifold was still moving around a lot. Would this continue to cause a vacuum leak or does it sometimes move around after greasing new seals?
It will still be able to move a little until it's been run for a few minutes. It shouldn't have any vacuum leaks. It'll be easy to position it to bolt up the backing plate. Once it has been run for a few minutes, the heat will thin out the grease, and it'll ooze out. Then the seals will stick in place and it won't move.
@@fenrizwulf6682 Thanks man. I put it back together yesterday and was feeling a little worried about that. I didn’t even try turning it over until today. Runs better than ever. I appreciate guys like you up here on CZcams taking time out of your day helping the world out. Good people
@@qk4ez1ls1u I'm glad I could help.
Great looking Sporster.
Thanks!
How did you get the bracket for the horn off?
It's just a couple of bolts. Sometimes they're pretty tight, and they have locktite on them from the factory, so a long wrench or ratchet helps.
@@fenrizwulf6682 sorry, I figured it out. They were covered with some type of ugly ass cover that looked like Elmer’s glue and aluminum foil lol
@@qk4ez1ls1u yeah, that happens. Those covers are a pain in the ass even when they're new.
Didn't sound very healthy ay Mr Wülf 😕 🤔
Yeah, she's not happy at all. It'll be running like a champ again soon, though.
Nice relaxing ride my friend thanks for the ride along
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
How’s the Pursuit going you must have a few miles on it now?
She runs and rides great. It's still my favorite bike of all the ones I've ridden. I don't have as many miles on it as I'd like, because I seldom have time to ride far and I rotate through all the bikes for my ride to work. I'll try harder to get some day trips in this summer, though.
Great video showing the use of the less expensive type wheel bearing remover/installer.
Wow I am from nepal🎉❤
Nice ride my friend and a nice toolbox I have the next size down from that one
I really like that box, but it's tough to move.
Great ride my friend
Like the tune
Good work, bike looks much better.
Love the video God bless
Lol this song and Hey Goat skit is hilarious
How come iv never heard those song 🤣🤣🤣
Great way to start a day at work riding a motorcycle have a good day my friend
Best part of my work day, riding to and from the shop.
Nice ride along my friend have a great day
Thanks, you too!
Regarding your Electra Glide carburetor issue: czcams.com/video/bA9ZCg534Eo/video.html
I appreciate the link, I love Doc Harley's videos. I don't have the stock ignition system, or even any part of the stock ignition on my Electraglide, so no VOES or MAP sensor. The problem was actually really simple and kinda dumb: the main jet had come loose and backed out until it was stopped by the float bowl drain plug. It was in by one thread. Lots of extra fuel was getting in around it, making it run rich. Now that I've properly tightened it, the engine runs perfectly again.
