    I purchased the Umarex Gauntlet from Pyramid Air, as my 1st pcp. I have adjusted the trigger and put a 360cc bottle on it. My regulator is set to give me 150 shots. 10.34 jsb go 850 fps to a little over 860 through the entire shot string. It's the most accurate rifle I own. I shoot it more than anything else. .....Tyler shooting with Rossi is one of the reasons I bought it. Thanks guys. Excellent video. God bless you both. .....

    My first PCP was the Air Arms S510XS .22 caliber laminated stock. I saved up for it, and the accessories. The way I am, if I buy anything I buy quality, and the company / manufacturer has the reputation to back it up. If that means I have to wait longer, due to saving up more money, then so be it. To each their own, but that is what I do. Then I bought an Impact MKII .30 caliber 700mm barrel, and then a Dreamline Tactical .25 caliber. Saved up for each one.

      Iam blessed to be able to buy anything they sell. But I purchased a Umarex Gauntlet just to try a pcp. But after adjusting the trigger and putting the 360cc bottle on it, I am totally satisfied. 150 shots using JSB 10.34 177cal pellets at 850 fps to a little over 860 through the entire shot string. I bought a Kral bullpup to see if I liked bullpups. But my Gauntlet is still the most accurate rifle I own. It's hard to buy something else for more money that doesn't get 150 shots. Now Iam spoiled.

      Heith Watkins that’s great. Be happy with what your shooting. I am shooting larger calibers and more power that takes more air. When I get to my reg pressure, I just hook up to my Nomad II and top them off. No big deal. I can hand pump it if I need to. I will get one large SCUBA Tank, so that I am not putting to much demand on my air compressor. Right now I am getting almost 80 FPE out of my Impact, 50 FPE out of my Dreamline Tactical, and 32 FPE out of my Air Arms S510XS.

    When I was shopping for a PCP weight was an issue and of course the almighty dollar. Ended up with the Stormrider gen 1 in.177. Scoped with a Hawke 4x12-50 and a regulator and a bi-pod mount, comes in at 6.8 lbs. Hand pump friendly with small reservoir, 120-220 bar is 60 strokes and 30 shots @ 835 fps with 10.65 ammo. Nice to hear about the different price point guns with reviews, not just the high end ones. Thanks

    This has been my experience. First, I needed an accurate airgun to pest sparrows from my bluebird nesting boxes at 25-30 yards. I determined my accuracy requirement to be 1" groups, or less, at 25 yards. So, my first purchase was a Crosman Nitro Venom .22. It was powerful but the trigger was horrible, and the accuracy was just not good enough. Second purchase, after reading tons of reviews, was a nice Diana RWS 34P in .22. It came with an excellent Hawke 3-9x50AO scope. I was never able to achieve the 1" accuracy consistently and I had as many misses as hits. After five years of frustration trying everything to achieve decent accuracy, I gave in and went to the "dark side"'. In the spring of 2018 I purchased a Gamo Urban and a UTG 3-12x44SWAT scope and an $85 hand pump. Yes, I did have to invest $550 in this package but, it was more than worth the cost. The Urban is basically a rebranded BSA Buccaneer with a hammer forged barrel. The trigger was a bit creepy, like Tyler said, but I replaced the 8mm adjustment screw with a 10mm screw and that made the trigger as good as the T06 on my Diana. Okay, now the accuracy issue was no longer an issue. I can consistently shoot 3/16" bulleyes at 20 yards, and 1/2" groups at 30 yards. I rarely miss with this PCP rifle. I paid $220 and for that cost, there is nothing comparable on the market. The Urban is perfect for my needs, with many sparrow and starling kills, and even two woodchucks. End of story. :)

    My only experience with airguns until 4 years ago was limited to Daisy and Crosman multi pumps back in the 70's I still have my Crosman 1377 from that era. Fast forward to 2016, I had squirrels nesting in the rafters of my house for several years. Trapping them wasn't working so decided I needed a new pellet rifle to dispatch the invaders. I went shopping on line and was quickly overwhelmed by the 100's of brands and 1000's of models. So began researching and must have watched 10k video reviews looking for the "BEST" airgun (lol). I decided a break barrel was going to be the most bang for the buck. Then finally after watching Rick Eutsler use a Dremel tool to improve the trigger I chose the Benjamin Trail NP because of all the "advantages" of the "revolutionary" nitro piston. Now I'm not trying to bash the NP there are some benefits to a gas spring but in hindsight it really had more to do with marketing that moved me in that direction.
    Yes it dispatched the squirrels. No the Dremel fix didn't really help, there was some improvement but it was marginal at best. I came up with a better fix and NO, I DID NOT USE a washer or a bearing. Someday (soon I hope) I'll make a video of what I came up with.

    Here is a future topic for you guys regarding estimated in stock dates for your products. This goes for all products but particularly FX products. I fairly recently ordered a Wildcat magazine from PA with an estimated in stock date of about a week from placing my order. Then came the typical pushing back the in stock of another few days and another week then finally after about 3 months I get the magazine. When I called PA the representative said FX does not tell us anything. I know from dealing with smaller airgun suppliers they call FX up to place orders and know when the product is shipped and arrived to the US. I would like to have an honest discussion of how the smaller suppliers know exactly when a product is shipped and PA seems to not have a clue.

      So a few things with this: 1) Our sales/support staff have to go through our purchasing department to get ETA's for items, which is why they often have trouble getting you real time info on inbound shipments. Our purchasing team is usually on top of those ETA's, and they try to keep the website up to date with the anticipated dates. Should one of our reps need to ask purchasing something, they should be able to get that information and give you a call back pretty quickly.
      2) We often times have a considerable number of backorders for FX items, and it would be difficult for one of our sales/support folks to gauge both the incoming quantity against backorders AND where you might be in line. Again, all info that can be obtained, but takes some time to gather. Remember, sometimes (not always) when that in stock date is getting pushed back, it's not that we haven't received any of a given item, but could be that we are still fulfilling backorders. Not sure if that was what happened in this instance or not, just saying it's a possibility.
      Just trying to address the "why" of the question. If the person you spoke to wasn't helpful, that's a different matter and feel free to shoot me a direct message as I'd like to hear more about that if that's the case.

      @@tylerpatner6591 First of all thank you for taking the time to give overall explanation of the process. I at this time have an order in for the new Dreamline Power Plenum which I know is probably much in demand. The in stock date has been pushed back to 3/18. Is that an guess when they will be ready to ship and do you know how many you will be receiving. Like I said in my first comment that you should know when FX actually ships an item and the usual time it takes to get across the ocean and be processed. It just seems to be an estimate of in stock date should not be made until the item has actually been shipped. I know we airgunners all want are items asap but I feel that the pushing back an in stock date a few days here and a week there does not seem to be based are hard data. I would rather see an item be listed on order and an estimate of in stock not be given until it has been shipped from FX. Thank You

      @@gunpowderairpower8155 Yes, lots of orders for the Dreamline PP at this time. As best I can tell, we have an order that is due to arrive later this week. I know how many we ordered, but I cannot say for sure how many are/will be fulfilled. That's where the waters get muddy on most things. Until a shipment is actually sent from FX USA (or any other supplier for that matter), we cannot see what we will receive. Bear in mind, we don't know what FX USA gets from FX Sweden....we are only notified when items ship to us from FX USA. But all that aside, from what I can tell, if what we have on order is what we receive, all backorders should be filled on this coming shipment.

    Great discussion guys thanks! How about airgun maintenance? Every high end PCP i own has needed work done to it about every year or so something goes wrong with it; o-rings, magazine indexer, air leaks. This issue i believe will be troubling for the industry as a whole. PCP airguns are like cars not microwaves, they need to maintenance, who will be there for me when the warranty expires? Do i just learn to be my own mechanic? The compressors are in the same boat, but wow they have gotten cheaper over the last few years!

  • @ajmnuisanceanimalcontrolll3895

    Good job. I think that people just want you to be able to work with someone else like the proshop. Where they can get everything that they want. They want a contractor and not to be the contractor. They want to watch CZcams videos that show everything that a gun can do and not just the stock options. Or a referral of someone that can help them with that.

  • @mdechristi
    @mdechristi Před 4 lety +1

    Do you put pressure on manufacturers to provide accurate specs. Just bought a gun rated at “up to” 950 fps. But it doesn’t get anywhere near that. Best its ever done is 805.

    • @randycupp5925
      @randycupp5925 Před 4 lety

      Manufacturers advertise speed with the lightest weight alloy pellets the gun can shoot for that particular caliber. You should be more concerned with "FPE" not "FPS" Foot Pounds of energy is a more accurate way of measuring the guns actual power. PCP airguns usually advertise power in FPE. Break barrel guns almost always advertise FPS and they do it in a way that is favorable to selling their guns (inflating the fps by measuring it with light pellets). That is why it always says "up to". My guess is that you bought a springer/break barrel.

    • @mdechristi
      @mdechristi Před 4 lety

      FPE and FPS are inextricably bound together. You can’t get a good FPE without a high FPS. And, as for the weight of the pellet, I asked the company what pellet they used and tried to duplicate their results, exactly. Even with the pellet they used, the closest I got was 805. Thats just deceptive advertising, in my opinion.

    • @randycupp5925
      @randycupp5925 Před 4 lety +1

      @@mdechristi You are correct, they are definitely related. However it is much easier to advertise that a gun puts out 1200 fps and fool potential buyers into purchasing the gun. If that 1200 fps gun achieved that 1200 fps with a 7 grain pellet it only puts out about 22 fpe. If a gun had 900 fps printed on the box and was sitting on the shelf right next to the 1200 fps gun most people would buy the 1200 fps gun. However the 900 fps gun was tested with 34 grain pellets and it actually puts out nearly three times the energy (61 fpe) than the more appealing 1200 fps gun.
      But yes, I agree with you. If the mfg says it should produce 950 fps, then it should actually do it.

    • @tylerpatner6591
      @tylerpatner6591 Před 4 lety +1

      Pressure isn't the correct word. We ask our manufacturers to supply specs and data for their guns, and try to display that to you (the customer) as accurately as we can. In cases where manufacturers supply alloy and lead pellet velocities, we often list that in the bullet points or description of the product. Some manufacturers supply one and not the other, so we often request they provide the pellet weight used...but that doesn't always happen. It really depends on the brand/manufacturer. Trust me when I say, we all wish there was a more standardized method for obtaining and reporting these specs.

      See my story above. I have a very nice Diana RWS 34P .22 cal. After five years of trying every hold and technique suggested, I was never able to achieve 1" groups at 25 yards. It's not the airgun, it's me. I just could never master it. I finally went with a Gamo Urban PCP and I couldn't be happier. It's very accurate, plenty powerful, light, compact and perfect for pesting. I use a cheap ebay hand pump to fill it. My two springers are now closet queens in my gun cabinet. It takes a lot of practice and special hold technique to shoot a spring airgun accurately. The Urban just works.
