Great video, doing my theory test on Saturday, my motorbike licence expired in 2001, expensive mistake, I feel like a teenager (getting shafted by the high prices of everything with an ex engine) thanks for the brilliant video lad, 👍
thanks for the video. I would love to learn how to ride a bike. It will be for an A licence and i have never been on a bike before so this will be very interesting and hope to be able to one day buy a tourer and travel around on it and park up the 4 wheels for a change :) as for theory test, im studying for it as it is. so fingers crossed ill have the first one done by the end of september. I have subscribed so i will keep you up to date on that. thanks for the information :)
@@zackd6168 well he left me. so i decided to continue with the biking so i did the test. passed it. 3 years later i have a beautiful FJR1300 and learnt how to maintain my bike. I am also part of a community that I get along well with. Dreams are still there they just changed a bit.
I'm swatting up on the theory test. I'm 47 with a full car license about 25 years. I find some of the questions to be strangely ambiguous, so don't underestimate it. There are plenty of questions that are simplistic and require basic common sense, but the ambiguous ones gotten wrong, may be enough to fall short.
thanks for the video a lot more informative than trying to find out through the official channels , I think you left out one small payment because you need to get an eye sight report to get your learner permit so another 25 euro
FYI If you done your car theory test before 2006 you do not need to sit the bike theory test again. This was due to some change in the law around that time, I simply just got a learner permit and skipped the theory test. If you are unsure ring up the NDLS and give them your PPSN number so they can check, hopefully that will save you €35! every little helps when you are starting out.
Just did my theory test and been riding without the ibt. Riding bikes for 10 years so. Been stopped before and for insured, nobody asked for the ibt. I'll schedule the driving test soon and see if I can get away without the ibt.
Hi , I have my theory test completed and doing my training soon. i have no idea what bike to get. I am 36 yrs old, 6 foot 2 inches. any suggestions of a big enough bike. I am thinking 600 cc Thanks
If you do the new bike theory test then it'll ask some bike specific questions yeah. Not all of them - most of the test is still the same as the regular theory test on rules of the road etc.
Howya mate, really enjoying watching your videos, been binging the eurotrip all evening! I was wondering if you had some advice for my situation. I've got a KTM Duke 125, I'm 22 and am about to apply for my first permit. I'm wondering if you think I'd be better off going for the A1, then progressing to the A2, or going straight for the A2, and then doing a pretest and my actual test onna rented A2 category bike? I don't currently plan on owning a bike over the A2 category, but I know if I do the A1 license, and progress to the A2, if I wanted to get the A license, id have to do a second driving test for it. Thanks a million! And keep up the class videos!
@@Grumpybikewizard cheers! Not sure why I had the idea in my head that if I'm on a 125 that the A1 was the best bet. Must've completely slipped my mind that you can only do the progression module once. Thanks a mil for the advice! Keep up the class videos!
What position we should ride when taking road test ? Can we go for test on normal clothes or it’s an requirement to wear proper motorcycle clothings with boots ? Please answer
Question, i'm 24 and looking at doing the theory test sometime next month or so. I'm gonna go for the full A licence, would i be restricted on what bike i can ride by the insurance company?? Meaning i wanna buy a bike which i could do my test with as well instead of using a bike i'm not used to for the driving test after the 6 months is up if you get me? :) Thanks in advance
If you have a provisional A and IBT you can ride any bike. I guess you're limited by what you can afford to insure so not buying a 1000c sports bike is probably a good idea :-)
Thanks a lot for a reply mate :) Like when it comes to buying a bike i'm gonna be lost, would you recommend a website or any bikes that someone could also use during testing as well? Thanks
The RSA website has a list of suitable bikes. Aim for 600 or 650cc and something without an 's' in the model name to avoid the sportbike premium -- hornet and bandit and sv650 are all classic choices, but of course up to yourself.
I'm moving to ireland from the states. I have a motorcycle license here as well as a finnish a2 license. I'd prefer to keep my full license which I can get in may from europe. But my question is can I register and insure a bike if I use my american license? Or should I wait till may to get the big a license
I know this video is a bit old now but when you go for the IBT is it like a 2 day course? Is there groups of lads doing it or is it one on one training or what? Do you need to buy a bike and all the gear before going to the IBT or do they provide all that stuff? Thanks.
It really depends on the school and the area you're in. Your best bet is to ring a local instructor and ask. I did mine on my own, but some offer discounts for pairs, or put you with one or two others. It won't be a big classroom. The course is 2 days, which you don't have to do together, I did mine one day a week or 2 weeks. As for bike and gear, also depends on the school, most good ones will give you a bike and some basic gear, may advice would be to at least buy your own helmet and gloves, you'll need those for sure.
Some very helpful information just wondering after getting your learner permit and passing your ibt how long do you have to get your driving test done before your learner permit expires ?
Learner permit lasts 2 years, and IBT also lasts 2 years. So you need both to be valid to pass your test. You can renew your learner permit but the IBT expires and you have to do it again.
Can you get insured when you finish your ibt and are you allowed to start riding afterwards or do you have to wait 6 months before being able to start riding on the road ?

If you have a full AM you can ride a scooter up to 50cc, older licenses had it grandfathered in. Anything bigger and it's learner permit and IBT time.
