Glad to hear it and thank you for watching 👍
Stunning little shelf, Tomasz! Awesome work! 😃
The mistake now can be a place to put your fingers when taking it off the bed!
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you for watching mate 👍
As usual, a very informative and good video. 👍🏼
Thank you for watching
Tomasz, cracking idea and nodoubt your daughter is going to be putting it to good use. Well worth the effort especially when it comes down to the item being for your little one 😅😊. As always brother 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
Oh she loves it. It's a storing place for her Teddy bear and a drink 😅
@@CasualDIY 🤣😅🥹 brilliant, you gotta keep the Teddy safe .
Great little project.
Thank you for watching
Nice Job !!! well done
Thanks 👍
Nice work
Thank you
Mistakes happen to everyone dude. Another nice little project and video! Thanks man
Hehe thank you
My concern is that the slots to hold the shelf are cut to deep. Will there be enough strength in the grain to hold in the long run? Brillant design. Take care and stay safe.
I was thinking the same, but the fit is snug which means no movement. I did put significant amount of pressure to test it out and it seems to be OK. Maybe 18mm ply would be a better choice for this project. But I wanted a unified look so it matches the bed. Time will tell how it will hold out.
I'm sure you considered running a dowel vertically down through the back and as overkill at the front of each brace.@@CasualDIY
@@BasilsWorks461-uo8bq you could run a dowel or even a screw however the fact is that the joint/ wood bracket would only come under significant stress if there was some play between the bed rail and the shelf. However this is a snug fit so the whole shelf is resting on the beds slats. Therefore there is no bending or flexing force going on the U shape cut out. I'm fairly confident than this will last till my daughter is ready for a new bed ;) However if this will ever break you can be assured I will report this on my channel with a relevant fix👍
I hope you routed d another slot in the top of the other side 🤣... the only thing I'd worry about is the relatively small amount of wood on the back hanging piece, it looks like it'd snap quite easily ... but another cracking addition to your daughters bed 👍
I had a similar mishap with the bamboo speaker cabinets I'm making at the moment, I started cutting a piece to length and only realised something was off about 5mm into the material ... needless to say I then had to fill the cut with another bit of wood!
I think plywood would be a better choice as the material. But I wanted a uniformed look so went for the same pine board. When the shelf is on and resting on the bed slats there is no movement or flexing due to snug fit. But time will tell if the wood will give way. I tested it and put some weight on it and it was fine, no flex no "cracking sound"🤣
Yes mishap happen quite often in my workshop 😅
@@CasualDIY Completely agree that plywood would have looked naff ... just thinking, if it does snap, just drill a hole down from the top and glue it all back together with a nail (or screw) glued it 👍
@@barry.w.christie True, that's a good and strong fix option.
You should patent that feature mate 😊
Oh there're plenty similar designs out there
Yeah. But not with the mistake groove 😊
@@paulbateman5769 haha that's true
