Have you seen any of these movies, if so what'd ya think đ€
Team America did not live up to the hype that surrounded it, after seeing bigger, longer and uncut I thought it would be similar, it wasn't
I havenât seen any of them yet but they seem cool so Iâll check them out.
Yes
12:47 What is the name of the song played there?
You should review that Butch Hartman crossover episode with BTR
Heres an extra fun fact about Trey Parker: Trey Parker voiced the villain in Despicable me 3 so his daughter could watch something appropriate with him in it
That's adorable!
I remember my aunty asking me if I wanted to go, I only liked the first movie so I was unsure until I saw who played the villain.
thought his voice sounded familiar.
Thatâs the cutest shit ever even tho I knew I remembered now.
that's extra funny considering she voiced Ike in South Park
Still crazy how âAmerican, Fuck Yeahâ went from a parody of American Pride to be known as an American Classic
It's the "Born in the USA" phenomenon, people hear what they want to hear.
I donât know a single person who uses, âAmerica, Fuck Yeahâ unironically. I donât know if you know this, but here in America itâs cool and hip to be anti American, and someone who actually has even just a little pride in their country is demonized because people canât tell the difference between patriotism and nationalism.
For me, the "Everyone Has Aids" song still stuck in my head since 2017 and it's still funny.
Yet at the same time, the movie seems to be somewhat apologetic to American militarism.
Like the villains are anti war activists and celebrities can be seen as âbad faithâ representation.
Like Team America was shown to be âgood guy who needs to learnâ than criticism of it. By contrast, anti war side wasnât shown with any positive sides or provide lessons that heroes need to learn.
Keep in mind, it was written in 2003 and Matt and Trey had libertarian bias.
Then again, it was more well written enough to be assumed as parody.
âwhat would yew dew if you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom?â
đđđŠ đșđž
Canât wait for the one with Kendrick Lamar đđ
That should be great đ
The creator of Xavier: Renegade Angel is also involved
Theyâll likely take more jabs at Drake
Excited
Me getting ready to see the 500000 Drake pedo joke: (i love being a Drake fan I gotta deal with this shit everyday)
Iâve been sitting on making this video for a year and a half damnit Mark
Omg the guy from TikTok
Your the family guy CZcamsr.
Thank God Mark made it first
If you make it, I'll still watch yours
You snost you lost
Team America is probably the closest to making a South Park product featuring the same satire, comedy and celebrity ribbinâ while at the same not being a South Park product.
True. I feel like the main difference between Team America and South Park is that Team America is missing the emotional depth that makes South Park great. Idk I just couldnât get connected to the main dude in Team America. But maybe that was intentional since a lot of the humor in that movie is just laughing at how ridiculous everything is lol
I think book of Mormon was also very successful obviously not a movie tho
I can see that
â@usmaanilyas8639 But, at least America F*** Yeah is very relatable now....đ
@@usmaanilyas8639Yeah that was the whole point lmao you werenât supposed to connect to the main character in Team America. Heâs literally the cookie-cutter action hero you see in every war film. The whole thing is a parody of war movies I love it sm
Baseketball is such a guilty pleasure. Its so stupid. That line âi swear if you guys rip on me 13 or 14 more timeâs im out of hereâ gets me every single time
One of their best
It's like 20 years since I've seen that film and still remember that joke. Weird.
â@@jamstonjulian6947 I do remember it well for the fact that Bob Uecker and Dale Earnhardt Sr both appeared as guests. Bob called the games, and Dale was the taxi driver.
Fun fact: the plot point of Gerald being a troll in South Park season 20 originated from an idea trey and Matt had for a movie or musical about a normal man being a troll in secret. Iâd honestly like to see the idea revisited someday, has a lot of potential as a movie.
I'm still surprised they're the only people I've seen who has been able to depict a realistic representation of a internet troll
I love the fact that Team America came out the same year as the live action thunderbirds, and feels more like a more faithful adaptation to the series than movie ever was.
Only thing I remember about the live action Thunderbirds was how much I was tweaking over Vanessa Hudgens.
They even tried to hire the puppeteer from the original Thunderbirds, but he declined the offer for some obvious reason.
The whole plot of Orgazmo falls apart when you learn Mormon Temple weddings are free and the guy wouldnât have needed money for it in the first place. I thought Matt and Trey knew their Mormons? Sheesh!
Mark mentioned that he wonders what a South Park fan stumbling across these films would think, and I found them all about 15 years ago and loved all of them.
Also fun fact: In Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, Kenny's heart is accidentally replaced with a baked potato. This is another reference to Cannibal, where the song mentioned with the ending jingle has the lyrics "my heart's as full as a baked potato."
He uses the baked potato analogy several times over the course of that song; the charm of Shpadoinkle (the song in question) is the amateur "first draft/placeholder" vibe.
From Mormon musicals to owing a restaurant to a weed company to Kendrick Lamar what a career. Also I like how Matt Stone's character in Cannibal has the same hat as Kyle his most prominent role in South Park.
Plus, Cannibal is a Troma film, as a New Jerseyan, Lloyd Kaufman's Troma put out some great B-movies. Plus, they were the 1st to do an English dub of "My Neighbor Totoro" in 1994...
(Fox Video, now 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment, released the dub exclusively on VHS here in America, until Disney re-dubbed it in 2003 for a limited edition DVD release.)
the ghibli movie? the one that was digitally animated? the one that came out in 2001? what what whaaaaaat?
@@graphicremoved2539 I misspoke. It's My Neighbor Totoro.
Kendrick Lamar is now apart of the LSMark canon. Let that sink in, pun intended
Additional fact, in case anyone wanted to know.
Team America's score was produced by Harry Gregson Williams. While he's produced a lot of music for a lot of films, he also produced the music for Metal Gear Solid 2 through Ground Zeroes.
So, yes. the Snake Eater theme was scored by the same guy as Team America.
Iâm finding out so much shit from this video, and your comment was the icing on the cake. I would have never connected the dots. I love mgs2, so that blew my mind
One thing I took away from Team America is that it took me the longest time to realize that the musical "Lease" was a parody of the real-life musical "Rent", which explains all the AIDS...
It's Team America's 20th birthday. Geez.
I'm one of the very few (only?) that have Team America as my favorite movie of all time. My top 3 will always be TA, Holy Grail, and Anchorman... it's weird even to me TA beats the Southpark movie by a hair even tho that's 5th alltime to me.
Yes I'm basic af to comedy. F&ck you Kyle, my childhood kicked a$$.
Team America is one of my favorite comedy films of all time. I love how unfiltered and unhinged the jokes are, and I don't even need to mention how iconic "America, Fuck Yeah" is as a theme song.
It is very interesting to try and review politically too, even if it does make the threads pretty visible at places
Of their non-South Park movies, BASEKET-BALL and TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE were my favorites.
I remember when I first watched Team America with my dad. When My dad told me that it was made by the creators of South Park, it just made sense.
Baseketball is unironically one of my favorite movies
Same and I donât even like sports or sport movies, but I loved that one and also I loved Team America a little.
Orgazmo is one of the greatest movies ever made and I refuse to be told differently. Cannibal is fantastic too. Troma is general is great!
The Unsolved Mysteries bit in Baseket Ball is probably my favorite bit, "I don't care if he fucking hung himself" cuts to some fat middle age man hanging in a closet and then he took a puff from a cigarette
Remember Trey and Matt made a short film at Universal Studios Hollywood? Yeah look it up. Itâs called âYour Studio and Youâ and they are a lot of cameos no one would expect.
"Old... and stupid." (Cue footage of the shark prop from Jaws)
baseketball is unironically one of my fav movie
Like said with the Seth Mcfarlane movies vid, Itâs always fascinating to see creators who you mainly associate with animation branch out to live action projects, whether it be from Brad Bird or Mike Judge.
Either that or seing Voice actors be in something that isn't aniamted like David hayter in the guyver movies or Eric buaza in the banana spilts movie if that counts
Some of the humor in Cannibal the Musical really hits for me, the silly song lyrics are just so... silly. Love Shpadoinkle Day and the Snowman song.
the sky is blue and all the leaves are green
Those songs are so silly, but pretty damn funny
To answer your question on the airplane âBraniffâ company logo, I believe that stopped showing up on the show by mid-season 10 (aside from its first two episodes).
Braniff was eventually folded into SPâs current day production studio South Park Studios.
Legend has it, the 'Indian' chief actually is the owner of a sushi restaurant Trey liked. Trey asked him if he wanted to be in the movies because he figured they'd get free food out of it.
He did own a sushi restaurant in Colorado & also appeared in âOrgazmoâ
Fun fact the opening shot with the fake smaller puppets legit had a executive pissed saying they fucked us only to reveal the budget was spent and not wasted
I love the interview where Trey and Matt talk about how Sean Penn sent them a letter but it was addressed to the public instead of them. The irony of that is insane considering the way he is portrayed in Team America
Sean Penn actually wrote that letter because he heard that he was in Team America, he didn't actually watch the movie tho lmao
Saaaaayyy âGeddy Lee!â
âWhoâs Geddy Lee?â
âGeddy Lee! Best bass player! Ever! Come on!â
I just finished watching the Cannibal! segment and since it's honestly one of my favorite movies, I wanna say some things in its defense: I don't mind many of its "low-budget" aspects because 1) I personally have a fondness for things like that as I find it can really add charm and fun when used in the right ways/circumstances, and 2) as you noted, Trey and his friends made this movie while they were still in college. In COLLEGE. That blows my friggin' mind. For what's basically a student film, Cannibal! is really impressive. It still has flaws (sound issues, costume issues, etc.), but I think this aspect highlights all the things that the film succeeds at.
And it succeeds at a lot! I was surprised to hear that you didn't like most of the songs. I find Cannibal!'s soundtrack to be fun and catchy all throughout (While I don't dislike any of the songs, the only one I think is a little slow or "drags" a bit is Polly's love song: one of the ones that you liked the most). And as for your comment about the film taking place in "nondescript fields"? That reminds me of something else I appreciate: its location shooting. This is a story about a group of people who tried to travel through Utah and Colorado. Because Trey and his friends were going to school in Colorado, they were able to film in environments similar to what the characters would have traveled through! AND they actually filmed in a location where Alferd Packer had 100% been: the courthouse where Packer was tried. I admire that dedication to detail!
Finally, there are all the little things about the movie that make it so charming in my eyes, like the fact that Trey Parker's dad plays the judge at Packer's trial, or the opening credits that play during a medley of the soundtrack (referencing a tradition of other movie musicals). There's really a lot to love about Cannibal!, and while I respect that it's not your cup of tea, I hope that other people aren't deterred from checking it out for themselves.
That movie cracks me up so hard. I donât care how amateur the production value is, their heart is in it and their trademarks were being set up
Casa Bonita is already opened and they did great with it. It's almost exactly the same way i remember it from when i was a kid
Fun Fact: The Mormon church has been incredibly positive about the Book of Mormon musical, and has openly promoted it in the past.
"You've seen the musical now read the book" lmao
I'm not going to lie, I kinda hoped you WOULD mention Despicable Me 3, not because I'm a diehard fan, but because I don't plan on watching it anytime soon, and I enjoy your commentary.
I was going to comment about Book of Mormon being missing but then I realized itâs a musical.
Trey Parker and Matt stones film career is better then Seth McFartland
I watched BASEketball for the first time like a month ago. It's fantasticly bad but amazingly great.
It has so many visual gags that aren't acknowledged its great. Like when they start getting paid note that fro boy starts wearing more and more jewelry every scene it's great.
I remember game grumps making light of how many good gags are in baseketball especially the radio scene. Still one of the best Iâve ever seen
After a recent rewatch of both, I honestly like Cannibal: The Musical more than Orgasmo. I think itâs because Orgasmo had a decent budget and ultimately falls short. It couldâve been so much better. With Cannibal, you can tell they are young and working with intense limitations.
I just want to say: Cannibal The Musical is great. Don't listen to the guy who thinks Family Guy is peak television.
He doesn't think that. Nice strawman
@@jerrodshack7610
Or it might be an intentional overexaggeration. Hmmm... What could it be?
He never said that

Not true, Dian didn't just do a "single voice" in South Park. Along with Satan's boyfriend Chris, he also played a game show announcer (not to be confused with the gameshow host) in the season 2 episode "Cow Days" and he played a shopping mall Mr Hankey in the season 2 episode "Merry Christmas, Charlie Manson!"
I love how most of these are âItâs so bad, that itâs greatâ
Man when I saw all this at 12, my DNA changed lol I was obsessed with south park and the creators because I was banned from watching it until my parents split up. My dad hated the show. And I want to make my cartoon one day so they're one of those people give me hope
Alright mark itâs time. Review every episode of Greys anatomy
Cannibal: The Musical is positively Schpadoinkle.
Team America is one of the funniest comedies ever. Sometimes I even misremember some of the songs as South Park musical numbers lol
i remember when my dad worked as theatre security and absolutely loved the book of mormon, but heâd never tell me anything about it cuz i was too young lol
Great video mark! Keep up the good work!
Did he re-name the video to feature South Park in the title after making fun of this same strategy for these movies in this exact video multiple times
It had south park in the title before
@dingola_ Yeah but it was still very obvious that the movies didn't have anything to do with South Park, just the creators. It was aaking a question. This new title is one step away from that "From the creators of South Park!" Shit.
@@whomdunit2457 thinking that way, yeah makes sense lol
BASEketball is a guilty pleasure of mine, I genuinely think itâs one of the most underrated dumb comedy movies ever
Cannibal the Musical is a masterpiece. You take that back!
You're right, it's rough, but its so endearing. Every time that a group of friends and I watch it, it's a hit.
Itâs such a fun movie & so silly. I laugh my ass off & love seeing them in their start as filmmakers before they ever made the show that would propel their names to glory
dude criminally uses Parappa 2 music and does not put it in the description
for those interested: the cannibal part's background music is Toasty Buns
Couple years back I watched the first episode of South Park and fell in love. I then proceeded to watch the entire show, the banned episodes and the movie. I then watched Baseketball and and Team America and loved both of them. South Park is now my favorite adult animated show of all time and I have a Towlie plush to prove it. Second is Futurama which I proceeded to watch after all that.
Did anyone else know about the opening song to Cannibal because of that one Kirby flash animation from like 2007
Took me half the video to realize this is LS mark and not Blooms lmao
They should collab
Baseketball needs a sequel
Dude...
Dude...
*Proceed to passionate kiss*
4:13 thank you editor for using that song. It's appreciated
Oh Mark, you have no idea how happy this video makes me! As a huge fan of the channel and someone obsessed with Trey and Mattâs work, I am so happy to see you covering their other creations! I saw the Book of Mormon musical live on broadway about a month ago and it was one of the best days of my life, no joke.
I love the song "every movie has a montage"
Dude I LOVED Stanleys Cup. The Red wings just destroying kindergarten kids to The Blur is hilarious.
Stanley's Cup was not one of the most hated episodes, it's over of the most beloved. Can online critics please stop trying to rewrite entertainment history based off their own biases?
Cannibal the Musical is not worth watching? Hell no, it's amazing from the first to the last scene! Just like Orgazmo. 10/10
Interesting thing is that although I watched all of South Park twice, saw Book and Mormon live, watched Team America, and even checked out Thatâs My Bush a while back (itâs pretty underrated), Iâve still never seen Baseketball.
dude you gotta its a cinematic masterpiece
You need to.
It's kinda insane how Trey Parker is the filmmaker Doug Walker desperately wants to be.
I remember being 9 when Team America came out; I knew of South Park, but hadn't seen more than a few episodes at that point. For some reason, when I saw the trailers, I thought the villain was Mr Garrison (they have the same glasses, and when you don't hear him speak long enough for the accent to show, it's the same voice). By the time it was out on DVD and I saw it I knew better.
im really happy you brought these movies attention (basketball and team America) part of me was always curious about them and whether they were worth my time but now after hearing you talk about them im gonna give them a watch so thanks!
excellent rebrand, milord
Crazy that Team America got made. Behind the scene is almost better than the movie
9:00 New sin: calling a "mid-E" a "mid-eye"
I saw the CZcams post as the community post came up in my feed lol
Not LS Mark saying âheâll do stuff to herâ as *Ron Jeremy* puts his hand on her shoulder
Team America is a classic. Easily rewatchable with a lot of hilarious satire that has aged amazingly well.
The fact that you included the clip of Bush dodging both the guyâs shoes was more than enough for me to like this video đ
thank you LordS Mark im sick rn and needed more content to eat up
I don't understand why CZcamsrs tend to change the title and thumbnail of their videos.
team america: world police is absolute class. genuinely the hardest i've laughed at a film in a long time.
That movie is so funny. I laugh every time
Cannibal the musical is something I have a soft spot in my heart for because you can tell just by watching it that it was a film made by buddies or giving a film school group a budget! Also I have since then incorporated Shpadoinkle into my vocabulary.
This accent drills my brain
Wanting for the next installment of the Tray Parker Cinematic Universe.
I loved basketball and im glad your covering it
Quentin Tarantino cited Team America as one of his top 20 favorite films he's seen that have been made since he started making movies (1992), that list was made in 2009.
Iâve seen clips of Team America thinking they were Robot Chicken episodes đ
I only heard of BASEketball because I read the ska band Reel Big Fish was in there, and I used to be a huge fan of them. The movie itself is pretty insane, kinda like an even more goofy Naked Gun, but in that same vein I kinda like it. It's SO stupid and I watch it as kind of a parody to those sports movies that take themselves waayy too seriously.
Now that you brought it back to my mind, I kinda wanna pop in the DVD and watch it again.
I know BaseKetball isn't loved much either, but I still enjoy the hell out of it since I first saw it... as a 7-8 year old around when it came out on VHS. XD Plus, gave us "Stevvveee.... PERRY!" along with the Reel Big Fish cover of "Take on Me".
Seeing this made me realize i did see BASEketball at some point on tv, as an kid at an point i did not watch South Park yet, and i loved that movie
I think South Park was also not running for long yet at that point, the movie is very old now
Wasn't expecting to receive a mini-history lesson from Mark with the Alfred Packer bit.
Markâs videos getting more wholesome and less nihilistic arc. I love it
I watched this on the toilet mark,I loved itâ€
Kenny Vs. Spenny is another work that Trey & Matt worked on as producers
I had a bootleg copy of Orgazmo a couple of weeks before I actually saw an episode of South Park(I didn't have cable but I shopped at a cool/sketchy comic shop with a crazy bootleg video section)
Good idea on the changed thumbnail
Ranking video suggestions (if you want to):
- Every live action disney film (including the live action remakes)
- Every netflix animated original
- Every Dreamworks film
- Every illumination film (that of course includes the despicable me franchise)
I feel like the humour of some of these movies went right over your head dude
16:33 LMAO i love how he spliced every shot together, guess he should train more
Finally got invited to Casa Banita after being on the list from day one. I'm glad I live in Colorado
I know you're saying it's not good but you're making the cannibal movie really look like i need to give it a watch
Ohhh thank mark I been wondering about the meaning of the airplane end credit
I love basketball and Iâm still kinda upset that Matt and Trey donât like the film (and the first 3 seasons of South Park)
