In this video, we will tell you about the issues we ran into with trying to retitle our out-of-state salvaged title car in our state. While we do live in Florida, you may run into similar issues in most other states.
This video will help identify questions to ask your states' DMV when purchasing a vehicle from Copart, or any other salvage auction.
Our plans have changed and now we have to pass the Florida inspection for the rebuilt title process. Join us on the process of what we need to do to get this ready to pass the state inspection.
We have done the research and nothing we found was consistent, but we decided to just dive in anyways. This is no way, shape, or form an issue with Copart, but the differences between one states rules to another. Each state has its own laws when it comes to motor vehicle titles. Copart has no say in that matter, as they have to follow the state laws like we do.
So, please make sure to watch this video all the way through so you know what to expect. Also, here is a link for@CopartTV and they have some videos to assist in educating you if you are also interested in getting a car from them.

You can always change the title to your name and still it will stay salvage in Sd. They will register and title it with no issues with your Florida address . You can do it they way it is.

Tilting can be fun with out of state salvage cars. Even when you are a dealer.
I have had copart sell me a car as "clean title" only to find it has been junked in the states computer system. Somehow copart got that fixed (something the DMV told me could never happen) but left me to fight with Carfax/AutoCheck.
As a dealer the "junk" brand on the history report makes it a deal killer. Been a month still fighting with Carfax.
Sorry to hear that. We are learning that now. Not a huge deal because of this being a rally car for Jill, but still a bit frustrating.

@@1Five1Garage wasn’t you. It’s so easy to buy salvage in my state of Iowa. Buy the car, transfer it in your name as a salvage title, then I repair it get a theft inspection done and I can put it on the road. Once it’s transferred in your name in the salvage title it’s yours to do as you please, fix or part it. Ive bought salvage in Minnesota too same thing
