- Transmission Fluid Change:
Sometimes you just have to do it. People often don't care about their smaller car as much as they do for their expensive larger models. But a small car needs oil changes too. Let me show you how to change the transmission oil on this Kia Forte LX. It really needed it. And as Scotty Kilmer always recommends: Don't flush, just change the oil!
This model has 7 qts of trans fluid in it, and we replace 3.5 qts for our car here. - Jak na to + styl
Vacuum here where the dirt is to make room for more dirt....😂
Hey mate, nice work. Is this 6 speed TC box or 6 speed DCT?
Great video!
Should have added more fluid then got it hot again, go through the gears. Then pull the check plug and let it come out until you see a steady flowing thin stream of fluid exiting. Don't just add fluid until it exits the check hole. This is not a rear differential or transfer-case checking procedure
I just did mine yesterday. I have 142,000 miles on my 13 Rio. I change transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. All I do is drain, measure what I took out and put back in what came out. Simple
did the same thing on my Forte every 10k…fluid is cheap, trannies are expensive so I just did it on the same schedule as my routine oil changes. Engine and tranny ran like glass until just over 200k when Bambi decided to destroy it
The colors do tell the condition, from red to black, along with smell, I am sure we know that, Great job having help guys, Are you going to change out again after a short drive so you can get it cleaner with what was still left in. I am not sure of the side plug, and I have to inspect our cars. My Sis is going to need one, one day and you are more than welcome to do it. great job
not changing again anytime soon. trans flush no good. give it at least 50k miles.
That fluid looked like it needed a new transmission. Nice Job! Probably could use a filter as well.
no filter on that one.
why not changing internal filter?? I know you will have to open the gearbox to replace, but need to know if it is necessary or not for this type? as ideally changing oil comes with a new filter.
yes, i see what you mean, but my buddy here was lazy, and didn't want to do the work. In this case it is a little more difficult than in other cars!
Those filters can only be removed by dismantling the entire transmission includng the torque converter. Wonderful engineers put 2 crews on filter innacesible from valve cover
New fluid and old filter. Half the job. Do you leave the old oil filter on when changing the oil also?
Yes, you don't have to change it every time. That would be wasteful!
The filter in these transmission isn't accessible when you remove the pan you literally have to remove the transmission from the car & split it in 2 in order for you to get the filter out. I've seen these transmission go up to 400k miles without a single change they are made to last, this simple fluid drain & fill will definitely help increase its life
Bossing gud pm, ano oil gamit s automatic transmission kia picanto at ilang litters
Is it the same with a 2020 Kia forte ?
idk, i don't have that model.
I am buying 2nd hand 2016 Kia cerato
Has done 83000 miles
Good ?
idk over the internet, you need to test drive it
@@mygiguser smooth shifting so far
Getting for 14.5 aud
Worth ?
All those clutch plate debris in it. If it's over 30,000 miles, I strongly suggest you should have replace the internal ATF Strainer as well. Looking at the color, I do believed that your ODO mileage is over 45,000 miles. If you did replaced the old ATF strainer, cut open the old ATF Strainer and you would find metal debris in it.
Jeremy, this car has 120,000 miles on it. And that oil had never been replaced. Nobody ever touched the ATF strainer. After this oil change it is good for 100,000 more miles. It's going to be OK!
@@mygiguser Alright, I can agree as the Standard of quality control especially when the said car is produced for Western Continental usage.
Quick question, Is the transmission pan made of plastic or metal? Because it looks like plastic to me.
As bad as that oil was you should probably change it again in 500 miles. It would be interesting to see if it is still on the road.
yeah, the car is still driving (very low mileage driver), and he didn't want to change a second time. He thinks it's good enough. If that trans fails, the car will be a total loss.
@@mygiguser You can't force someone to take good advice. Happy New Year to you and your family.
So if oil is this dark is just best to leave the transmission alone and just add fluid went is low
you can change the oil, just don't flush!
what kind of fluid do you use??
KIA OEM from the dealership
@@mygiguser What year model is your Kia and type!! Also transmission type ⁉️... 🤔💡🙄😳🤯🙌
To make it super easy, just add back the same amount you drained!
what if it was too low? You never know. Best to fill up to the correct level.
@mygiguser I suppose your right. Especially if the car has a ton of miles on it. Other than that, if low mileage, then should be very easy.
My kia was the same at 120,000. 🤑
nothing is lifetime Kia, look at that dirty oil. Car is happy with new oil on it.
Your transmission will now be slipping, you shouldn't have changed it if the oil was dark, the metal debris is what keeps it from slipping
it's not, you don't know what you are talking about. Thanks!
Yes, with that dark fluid you are opening up Pandora’s box…slippage, poor engagement and clunking to follow!
I have a 2013 forte that 80,000 miles on it, it now has 184,000. I guess it's never been changed, when I deciphered the "sealed transmission " crap, I thought about changing it. I'm not sure that I should now. I've always heard about the problems of doing this but, I don't know for sure?!
Slipping or not cannot get any worse now
