- The heat was in full effect during our visit to the Belvidere & Delaware River Railroad (Bel-Del) for Memorial Day Weekend, and NYS&W #142, a Chinese 2-8-2 "Mikado," was pulling her 4-car consist for the day! This is the first time that she was fired up since last year, and she did not disappoint! Today, she is wearing her Chinese 5-Chime whistle that, in my opinion, did not sound bad at all! Overall, enduring the heat was worth it for these awesome shots, and so Blue Comet Productions is proud to present this video!
BIG THANKS to boberttrain831, for bringing me along, and ESPECIALLY Steve. You know who you are, Steve.
This video was filmed on May 26th, 2012 in Phillipsburg, NJ.
That’s gotta be her original whistle. If so, she should have it more often.
It is, and I agree
Nice job on the video. 142 is a great engine, and definitely one of my favorite engines. I had plans to go up there today with Kevin and Steve, but unfortunately I couldn't make it. Oh well, this summer I'll hopefully be up there!
These Chinese Mikados are amazing machines!
I wish they always used this whistle on 142
YOU SEE NS CHOO CHOO BUT YOU NO TELL ME ABOUT THEM??? Haha just kidding bro, great vid!
This is one of the best whistles ever!!!! Great video!!!!
Same! Had a great time with you guys as well!
This is one of the best whistles ever!!!! Great video!!!!
The heat is on
On the very day his wonderful video was taken, the full force of summer's heat was with me at the Strasburg Railroad! Us railfans really know when to go railfanning lol
Superb video, Chad! Possibly your best yet! Thumbs up and a fav!
Nice video! I wanted to go up to phillipsburg but didnt have time! Well at least someone got a great video!
Thanks, Kevin!!!
I know that whistle. It's the whistle from the mainline
Very nice job!!
Awesome video dude! It was great meeting you guys, I'm looking forward to getting together again sometime.
Nice video as always Chad!
Aww, I'm sorry you couldn't make it. Kevin is too young to drive more than 1 person with him, so even I couldn't go with him to some places
The past two times I had plans to go up there I wasn't able to go. Oh well, I'll be up there (hopefully) this summer.
I don't know... The Chinese 5 sounds ok. It's just too high pitched. I've always enjoyed whistles that have depth and a lot of guts with them like the SP 6, B&M 6, or the NYC 6. I guess I'm a six chime guy lol
You're not a big fan of 5 chime
Different bell or same one from 1989
Nicholas Medovich just a lil different pitch. Mainly from the different qualities of the videos.
very nice thank you! lol
thank you!
This is one of the best whistles ever!!!! Great video!!!!
As of 2019 she's undergoing another overhaul that's been undergoing for the past 2 years now. I wonder when this Chinese mikado will steam again?
Not bad for a steam train that was built back in 1989
Was she shipped to China?
She was actually shipped from China to the U.S. (like most things nowadays). It was built in 1989 by the Tang Shan Locomotive Works for the Valley Railroad. They sold it the the Susquehanna where it ran for a little while. Now it runs on this tourist line.
Paul Belci if by "to" you mean "from," then yes.
I’m from Syracuse and I want that engine to come back
could i use some of these shots in a video i’m making about chinese-american steam?
Sorry but I cannot allow that
@@BlueCometProductions that’s alright, it was worth a try. i do admire your camera work (no i’m not trying to get permission)
