Honestly, I've been in situations where I've found myself physically unable to speak which is what caused me to want to learn sign language. This channel was a really helpful thing to find and the way it explains/shows the words/phrases makes it easier to learn. :D
Thanks for sharing your motivation for learning ASL. Many of my friends through life have been nearly deaf, I wondered why they didn't learn ASL. The answer , of course, is that nobody they know does ASL. That was my motivation. (and it's easier to learn than Spanish)

I've been an EMT for going on 12 years, now, and have dealt with many deaf patients, family members and bystanders. I decided to learn ASL because I believe it will help relieve already stressful situations in those instances. Your video series has been so helpful and makes me feel confident using what I learn.

I’m not hearing impaired or mute, but I think nonverbal communication like this will help me convey my emotions better when I’m overwhelmed, I’m a good or bad way. I’ve never gone completely nonverbal, but I’ve also never tried to go into a comfortable safe state like that, because I know to others it might seem like I’m overreacting. Trying this might make it easier for me to handle strong emotions

Thank you! I get anxiety and panic attacks often when I can’t verbalize how I’m feeling or what I need, so I’ve been trying to learn asl. It’ll definitely take a while to learn how to really explain what I need, but emotions are a good start.

@@MA-ev3sn I get selective mute when I am overwelmed sometimes or when I am like not ready to use my voice. Which is why I started to learn some with the possibility to learn a few easy to use signs to maybe use with my parents. Like I could use them when I am frustrated and use the sign so I don't have to say I am frustrated but sign it so my mum knows I am. Also bc its cool to be able to talk/sign to my sister or someone eighter to the other side of the room or maybe in like family gatherings or bday parties. And ofcourse to make it easier on people who use sign day to day. Would be nice to be able to understand some of it and to show I care and possibly help someone out who may not speak (at times) Hope this may awnser your question or give you an idea
i struggle a lot with communicating with my partner when i'm nonverbal and getting frustrated with trying to get my emotions across in front of him. signing has helped significantly and, thanks to this video, i now know how to convey my feelings to him properly. thank you endlessly

To all parents: we taught our kids sign language when they were growing up. We could sign to them from a distance and it would eliminate shouting. It worked so well. They now use it for their kids!

I signed as a kid because I didn't want to talk. As I got older my friends and partners didn't like that I signed and found it annoying that I would sign. My current partner is losing their hearing and I have a child who isn't really talking so while they learn I still have the tools to communicate with them. My partner even pointed out I still subconsciously sign even while talking, especially when I'm upset or frustrated.

Theres a few videos doing it in utube so I guess diff way of hand gesture per word is broad? 🤔...And the way they were doing it is so fast 😢 ; it so frustrating...

I've been in customer service for years. Plus have a granddaughter that's learning sign language as she has CP. Any how, I've had customers I've help that are nonverbal and it's been a challenge to help them. Grateful for texting, but it would be great to learn to be able to do ASL for customer service and definitely for my grand daughter ❤️
I used to work at restaurant and I was so amazed and wanted to learn and talk to customera signs. They are like the cool kids. Right now I am learning with my daughter sign language cuz she talks too much lol shhhhhhh I mean.... I have many times or I just find myself unable to say anything and kind of wish that asl was more common among people outside of the deaf community so that I could just sign and people would understand
