The Cheetah Girls might be the most well written DCOM ever and we're really glad we finally were able to make this movie commentary and reaction for it. Despite it looking a lot like any other DCOM, The Cheetah Girls is surprisingly detailed and thoughtful.

So one thing, it isn’t a high school they are attending. It is a Magnet school. Which is a school centered around art, which is the reason it is a HUGE deal to audition for a talent show and then abandon it. There are very few kids selected to go into Magnet schools.

you should absolutely watch the cheetah girls 2 as well! imo it's even better, and while kenny ortega choregraphed both movies i feel like the second movie takes a bigger advantage of it. and the songs are just as much of a bop
Cheetah Girls 2 in my opinion was an upgrade to the first. But it is hard to top the OG. I love almost all the songs in CG2, “It’s Over” still hits my core.
Fun fact: Almost 99% (maybe 100%) of the clothing the girls wore were not cheetah print. They were either leopard or jaguar; no cheetah. 😆

I firmly believe that if Mama cheetah had gone to that practice those godawful masks would have never left that case. Like my god those things were hideously ugly.
And the masks hid the girls' diversity, and that itself is a crime.

So not many people know that the movies are based on a series of books called the Cheetah Girls and each girl got their own POV in the books. I got into them after the movie premiered and read them constantly. The girls are pretty on par with their book counterparts except for Aqua(who has a twin, Anginette and left Texas to live with their father; the twin is cut out completely and the dad is barely mentioned) and Dorinda( Dorinda’s backstory is the same but she is biracial in the books and you learn a lot about her family life in a foster home;she later learns that she has a biological half sister through their mother who was adopted by a wealthy family) Also I listened to the soundtracks for CG 1&2 on repeat, my mom even got me tickets to see them live when they came to my city!

This movie will always have a place in my heart. As a guy, I always felt insecure about liking a movie “for girls” but now that I’m older I realized that that’s bullshit. I love the first and second movies and the music still holds up for me today. I still listen to them when the moods hits me.
I am proud of you for finding your confidence to appreciate things you like regardless what people think, it’s not easy but is so liberating once you let go. Stay safe 🙏

You guys missed it because she says it in spanish, but raven's mom is chanel's godmother. So yes, the moms are most likely old friends from the industry and the girls grew up together.

Makes sense how Chanel and galleria met, Chanel’s mom was a model while galleria’s mom is a designer
Stef at the beginning: I won’t remember any of their names
Stef at the end: *knows not only their names, but their nicknames*
I like that you picked up on the order of singing and how it’s a hierarchy bc if you notice at the end all the girls sing in different orders showing that they are equals
They continue this sentiment in the first song of the next movie until the next power shift and you start noticing a hierarchy again
Basically what DCOMs which had sequels did was tell the same story with minor alterations
Like how High School Musical is the same story with small changes but the main change is the location and budget
the cheetah girls definitely had a chokehold on me as a preteen 😭 some of their songs are still rotating in my playlists til this day

Fun Fact Solange Knowles was supposed to play Aqua but Matthew Knowles had her pull out of the project to focus on her music career, since Adrienne (Chanel) already had the role when Solange pulled out the part was offered to her 3lw bandmate Kiely.... can't wait for the sequel reaction

This movie was such a huge part of my childhood haha I remember memorizing all of the songs/choreography and (much to my brother's dismay) practicing them nonstop in the bathroom mirror. Every now and then, I'll break out humming Cheetah Sisters just to see his reaction 🤣

I have absolutely 0 shame in admitting that as a 25 years old the Cheetah Girls are on my top Spotify artists every single year, these bitches taught me about girl power at the age of 5 and I haven't looked back since, I'm convinced they groomed me into my music taste\obsession for pop girlies and girlbands...THE FUCKING BEST DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE EVER MADE!!!
The fact that this movie is one of the best DCOMs and the second one is EVEN BETTER just goes to show the quality of this property.
Hope they react to the entire trilogy.
This movie is for a very specific target audience. They use the word “Cheetah-licious” for god sake. 😅
I didnt mind the asshole to love interest cause he was never really that mean or anything, it came off more as playful banter/flirting and felt realistic. I dislike how he makes fun of their music but he did come around when he saw how she wrote it and stuff.
Galleria annoys me so much and i always hated when my step sister would defend her. I would never downplay the songwriter/producers of groups, but it's all about attitude. Galleria is clearly important, but you can't be a leader without having followers who TRUST you. I love this kpop group called Seventeen and Woozi is the producer of the group, and what i love is that he NEVER downplays the other members nor does he take credit for everything. He's very humble, and he's the sole reason why they even got to be as big as they are, but he always credits all the members cause they're important too.

Yeah Galleria was definitely power tripping in the first movie. But in the second film I think I remember siding more with her when they broke up briefly bc she was just trying to get the group to practice and be ready for the contest in Barcelona which was why they was there in the first place.
@@naylani7790 Yeah the second movie definitely puts into perspective that the other girls simply didn’t care enough. They all easily get distracted while Galleria was the only one who stayed committed to making their dreams come true. In the music industry it’s all or nothing, you don’t have time to be half assed about your craft.
Even though the movie is kinda cheesy, Raven’s character is eerily accurate. Young pop stars join the music industry starry-eyed and naive. They don’t want to look a horse in the mouth when a predatory contract seems like their best or only shot to pursue their dreams. Sad how companies depend on their literal inability to consent to screw them over.
Do didn’t take the beginner class in the sense that she’s following the class, she took over the beginner class, getting paid to teach it, while the usual instructor took the tour job.
This movie will always hold a special place in my heart! The cheetah girls soundtrack was the background music for every sleepover. I still have the CD. I play it in the car sometimes. ❤
Just to clarify, Do took over TEACHING the beginner class while the instructor went on tour lol so she’ll still get paid
you don't understand this movie is why as a 10-year-old I started loving cheetahs, leopards, jaguars, cloud leopards, and snow leopard print, and I have it around my room :D at that time.
I had a VHS so I was able to record what was on the TV and I recorded "Cheetah Girls 1,2"
I would practice the dances for each one.
my Mother would ask me "Why are you jumping upstairs??" lol

TCG was such an instrumental part of my childhood. My friends and I would act the films out on the playground and at sleepovers. It led me to want to make music, as cheesy as that sounds.
This movie is SO nostalgic for me! My sister and I were fans enough that my parents got us the soundtrack to this movie, and my mind was absolutely blown when I learned that skeevy Jackal Johnson was played by one of the guys who voiced my gateway anime crush, "Darien" of Sailor Moon.
OMG FINALLY!!! I've been requesting The Cheetah Girls movies for so long. I'm so happy you guys are finally getting into it. Now you guys just HAVE to do the second one. The sequel is even better than this one. Whitney Houston and Kenny Ortega really whipped those ladies into shape with the songs/vocals and the choreography. The Cheetah girls 1 and 2 are my absolute favourite DCOMs ever.

I can honestly say the sequel is pretty spot on for continuing the story🐆💕👍🏾the third one however is shakier than the camera movements in the music videos in this movie. 😂 Love you guys keep up the great work🤟🏾💕
One of the things I love about this movie is that although most of the songs are set up like a 90s music video, all of the singing is pretty explicable. Like they performed at a birthday party and a talent show audition which made perfect sense
I absolutely loved this movie as a kid, cause i grew up watching in That's So Raven, and listening to 3LW. Had the cds and everything. But to touch on Steph/Stef (Cause i dont know how it spelt) about speaking to the cop in Italian, it was probably because he was stressed. When someone who is multilingual is stress they will usually start speaking in the language they are more comfortable with, which is usually their natural language.😅
Chanel has always been my favorite too bc she’s real, she’s the singer of the group and it makes sense how she goes on to become the main girl in the third movie
Carrying around hot sauce is considered a very Southern American thing. Like Beyonce's lyrics "I got hot sauce in my bag, swag". Beyonce is from Houston, Texas, like Aqua.

oh my god, you guys are so right about the uncomfortableness of the word 'urban'. i was listening to aaliyah over the bluetooth in my car and it listed the genre as 'urban' and the amount of cringe i felt in that moment was indescribable. my skeleton tried to leave my body because my car committed a microagression.
To this day this is my favourite DCOM, the music holds up so well, I still remember all the lyrics and choreo I learned with my sister lol. And I love the second movie almost just as much, I really would love it if you guys did that one as well!

Technically, in order to record, they would need a good enough space. And this was back then, so getting a simple microphone is a lot back then. So, recording a demo wouldn't have been that easy.

this was definitely like my favorite DCOM as a kid, i remember having the soundtrack CD and learning the songs, dances and everything! 😂 i did enjoy the second movie as well but nothing truly beats the first!

I'm so glad yall did this, these movies were truly a core part of my childhood. I really hope yall get to do the second one, most fans actually consider it the best of the trilogy! It expands a lot of the first, and the other characters get a much bigger storylines.

Cheetah Girls 2 is on a different level, love that movie. The best part is that they attempt to make Galleria the villain again but honestly she wasn’t. And that makes the 2nd movie have a ton of layers to it. One of the best dcoms!!!!!
