    Think about the last tine a situation tested your patience; earlier today at 18:30hrs with an obnoxious colleague, instead of responding negatively, I embraced the stoic principles and controlled the situation whilst maintaining my equanimity. It was relieving to see my colleague upset that I did not respond with conflict or aggression. I felt calm and peaceful knowing I did not react impulsively. Stoicism is the way of life.

      @@chainedwaves thank you. Embracing stoicism has truly changed my life. I find myself not losing my patience or temper hardly at all now. I used to be a very angry person. Every time I find myself in a situation testing my resilience, I pause, take a breath and assess the situation. That pause is all it takes for me to not be quick to anger. I do slip up sometimes, but I do call myself on it, reminding myself that stoicism teaches us that whilst it’s ok to make mistakes, it is important to learn from them.

    This sounds so good and so simple yet it’s so hard for me to do all the time. Great inspiration. If I can make this work for me I will be a much happier person. Stop & reflect before reacting with emotions. I’ve regretted so many confrontations by reacting on unbalanced emotions. I wish I found this long ago. I have to implement this process in my life. Pause instead of spaz.

      Stoics can come off as cold, via detachment. To have charisma, one must be warm, and accessible. "Sometimes we are feeling good, sometimes bad...but we go through life with feeling".

    Reacting to stuff kept my life messy and stressed out, I knew it was happening, from the beginning but couldn't get a grip on things until I began to embrace Stoic principles. Was my life all negative and stressful, no but it contained a lot of it and it made me uncomfortable and this lack of ease eventually pushed me into Stoicism.

    A long time ago I started adopting Stoic principles while going through depression. More than anything else it helped me through. Maybe odd but more often than not my track is smooth and not a rollercoaster. More good than sad.

    Only one question I have. What about spontaneousness or spontaneity ?
    Children have that but I believe it is balanced with their innocence and impartiality.
    I don’t think being emotionless is part of them.
    So how can we be child-like in that regard, so that we don’t appear un-natural in our responses?
    Children do reach an ‘age of reason’ as it is called . But I’ve witnessed them doing things with perfect logic at a very young age .
    It is a natural response in them.

    I’ve been angry my whole life, recently ruined two relationships with it out of control and intoxication.. I feel like honestly I want to just never deal with anyone again.
    I’ve been trying to let people in for 8 years but I wasn’t getting the results I thought I might achieve.
    While this video is informative I still feel like I can’t love or ever feel like I’m heard when I speak or actually open myself up.
    It’s not how I want to live anymore, I’m tired of being angry at the world.
    I don’t know how I will overcome it, because I’m so used to being cynical about things I don’t like or believe in.

      Stoicism is the best way to deal with anger. There are so many videos about how to be better. You're doing great already by watching this stuff :)

      Have you looked into Buddhism? I'm not a strict Buddhist, but after being helped by some of Shi Heng Yi's videos, who is a Shaolin master, here on youtube, I read the Dhammapada, and it has definitely helped me with detachment from people and society, and has made daily life easier to deal with and I'm calmer emotionally. I'd definitely recommend watching some of Shi Heng Yi's videos, and see whether what he talks about resonates with you.
      You often find with philosophy and the eastern religions that they share the theme of other people often being at the root of your problems, and recommend detachment from people, and external events that are out of your control. I found it a significant conscious effort at first to do this, but once you commit to this way of thought, I found it started to become natural after a few months and it has the power to change the way you feel and look at the world quite profoundly.

      I know that feeling, I’ve been there. I want to share something with you that has improved the quality of my life immensely, and it’s a metaphor based on the foundations of Stoicism. Understand that the flow of life is like water. It is smooth sometimes and choppy at other times. Think of your existence like a boat. As long as you can stay afloat, you can deal with whatever the water conditions may be. I have found solutions, maintained peace, and been a good citizen by approaching all life circumstances with this in mind for 12 years now. Just keep reminding yourself of this, and watch that anger melt away. Wishing you the best, cause I know you can do it ☀️☀️☀️

    To quote the greatest psychologist ever, Carl Jung: "“There can be no transforming darkness into light, and apathy into movement, without emotion.” E-Motion is Energy in Motion. It calls the Life Force through us. The stoics come from the draconian society of "rules and logic." Only Universal Laws will lead us into the new heaven and the new earth. A belief is just a thought you keep thinking; it doesn't make it TRUE. Your Emotional Guidance System will NEVER lie to you.
