Lyrics:
It's a strange day
No colours or shapes
No sound in my head
I forget who I am
When I'm with you
There's no reason
There's no sense
I'm not supposed to feel
I forget who I am
I forget
Fascist baby
Utopia, utopia
My dog needs new ears
Make his eyes see forever
Make him live like me
Again and again
Fascist baby
Utopia, utopia
I'm wired to the world
That's how I know everything
I'm super brain
That's how they made me
Fascist baby
Utopia, utopia

Just discovered this gem of an album after mentioned in Steven Wilson's podcast. I'm so happy to know there's still plenty of great music to discover
This chorus of this song has one of the most utterly intoxicating synth rhythms I have ever heard. Absolutely magnificent.
I agree . The texture of the synth is everything
yeah we know, thx for stating the obvious
@@rickdeckard1075 don’t be an ass rick.
you are right it is mesmerizing. like old gothic songs.
Hypnotic, beautiful, calming, unnerving, sexy, how can anyone not love Goldfrapp?
Yeah, why not a much bigger following ?
This masterpiece will never fade. Ahead of its time, still ahead of its time. Even more, I don't even think it's from this world at all.
What are you saying hahaha that song was released in the times when the trip hop was very popular XD isn't ahead of its time at all!
@@hansaguilarroque2276 can't lie, a lot of these comments are massively over hyping the contents of this track. I like it but for example "This chorus of this song has one of the most utterly intoxicating synth rhythms I have ever heard"
almost as if they've never heard any music ever
It's not from this world.
@ hansaguilarroque2276 who cares, cope
@ benjames9158 who cares, cope
Alison goldfrapp
Is an inspiration and gives hope to those who have not made it young....she was 35 when this came out ..her debut....she's been wildly successful since....its a myth that you have to make it by 25 or you'll never make it/be left out in the cold forever......
I'm glad she got over that too, she famously wouldn't talk about her age for a long time, possibly shame. She shouldn't be ashamed, her life has shaped this beautiful woman and her relationship with her own raw talent. I'm not saying she should be actively grateful for the shit, but yeah, don't be embarassed because you're x age and not got a record deal. What about those Fisherman Friends guys, even? They were in their sixties and seventies when they did their debut album!
Her and Debbie Harry
Shouldn’t make any difference if your 25, 35, or 85! If it’s a good song, it’s a good song! There have been brilliant song writers and musicians out there, that have written great material and will never be heard of!
@@Rick-Jangle exactly the BS cxxxs in music world and TBH not just the industry but society/the world at large is full of ageist scumbags....just "meh" about it ya know???😡😠
@@92RedRevolver yeah it's the cxxxs in charge ..."gatekeepers"...ppl like Simon Cowell, etc who ironically wasn't famous until middle age
If this hasn't been used in a movie, it needs to. This song evokes an emotion in me that I can't even put my finger on... truly magistic.
Yes! I agree 100%!
They used it in a car ad back then here in Argentina, can't remember if it was Peugeot or Chevrolet, but sure was one of those two; big hit, everyone was asking what song was that, it was some kind of silly pride to tell them it was Goldfrapp and I had (still have) the album. Sadly, when they came in 2011, they didn't played it 😤🤷♂, they played all their upbeat hits instead, maybe to make the audience forget about the rain ("organizers" still program outdor shows in november when it's one of the most rainy months in the year 🤦♂), but the rain and the V.I.P. section (more interested in champagne and socialize than in the artists) that was between the band and the real audience made it an awkward show 🤷♂.
@@nunc-hic-stans4211that's a bummer about the "rainy concert" I have always preferred this LP to Goldfrapp's others now don't get me wrong I enjoy their "disco dance songs" Will Gregory is such a subtle genius and the way he manipulates Allison's voice is incredible and of course Allison could probably sing operatic music (her mother wanted her to) but Felt Mountain blew my mind the first time I listened to it I immediately thought of old Sean Connery James Bond movies and still do today ! it's very rare in the US to find another person man or woman that even know of this group if you do lots of conversations tend to happen I'm glad someone down south enjoys this music as much as I do👍ps. Allison has released a solo LP that is more dance oriented however it's very good oh pps. Madonna had stated that Goldfrapp's music was her inspiration for "Confessions on the Dancefloor"
@@nunc-hic-stans4211Nah , that’s not silly pride to have excellent taste.
@@nunc-hic-stans4211 yeah it was a Ford Fiesta ad!
Felt mountain is a masterpiece
Yes, it is
Its so weird that in interviews, Alison and Will say they cringe when they listen to it.
@@christophersheffield9574 shows it didn't really come from "them"
@@johannsmith5697 But still a masterpiece.
i agree
Alison Goldfrapp has, over the decades created a beautiful felt mountain of sound.
"Utopia" is the summit 🧡
Never gets old
A true masterpiece...
of course ♥ never forget this sounds and so lovely vocal..it's a magical idea's ♥
❤❣❣
@@scieropia klll
Her operatic vocals at the beginning and, in a more prominent way, at the great finale are from outta this world. One of the best songs.
Sometimes you hear a masterpiece and know on the first listen it's truly transcendent. This is one of them.
I remember this coming out 20 years ago and there was NO sound like this. It was awesome. Happy times!
There still is no sound like this in 2020, just some bitches with fat butts who jitter to noise sounding like „ whoop whoop ding ding“. Music died a decade ago and we are the lucky ones, who know the good stuff.
Happy times

Twenty years ago this album was an unexpected revelation. Alison's angelic voice and amazing electropop melodies make of Felt Mountain something special.
A Masterpiece!! One of the best songs ever!! A+
Essential Music
Felt Mountain is a masterpiece, one of the best electronica albums of all time.
The whole album is a timeless masterpiece!
I had just moved into my own apartment with no roommates in thirteen years. I remember discovering this song and feeling like I was in a dream.
Utopia 👍
An exhilarating masterpiece!
Felt Mountain is a pure masterpiece.
Can we talk about Alison's vocal range? WOW
A surprise for those who don't know her discography.

goldfrapp's felt mountain is one of my favorite albums of all time...
Possibly the most beautiful song ever written and recorded. And I miss my dogs.
you miss your dog which needs new ears?
One of the most underrated singers ever, her range is incredible, pretty damn hot as well!
This is one of my absolute favourites of all time . Utopia can only be a place filled with Goldfrapp's music.
OMG.... I have become addicted to this track.
To me this song is a prime example of why current (this century) music isn´t regarded highly: Songs like this don´t get promoted at same level as lesser music. This song doesn´t shy away compared to best music from previous century but many haven´t even heard it due to not getting into playlists. It´s by design that the current music we hear is crap.
Cant get over this womans genius! Her music is next level.
Bellissima musica, bellissima donna, bellissimo testo. Senza tempo
*_TIMELESS_*
Goldfrapp are pure and timeless feelings and the singer is like a sensual siren that hypnotizes your soul, I love them
James Bond movies without Goldfrapp is plain stupid! Alison should be in exclusive contract with Bond movies... She is bloody phenomenal!

I was never sure If it was "fascist baby', it sounded like that but I thought, nah couldn't be, it must be 'precious baby'
@@slartybartfast4213 I remember this as
I forget who I am,
again and again,
fascist baby.
Which captures an aspect of fascism, that it rewrites history and misapropriates culture.
I listened again and I heard precious. Maybe the confusion is deliberate, but I would rather this was just a dreamlike indulgence.
@@thumper8684 That makes sense, maybe because it's so dreamy and chill my ears heard fascist but my head said 'no, that makes no sense, it must be precious'
I hadn't paid too much attention to the lyrics before today tbh, just enjoyed the beauty.
"I forget myself, when I'm with you" is my favourite lyrics by Goldfrapp.. How can love and erotic sentiment be described better? It's a perfect line, in my opinion.. And of course it's 'Utopia'. It might be too good to be true...
Alison Goldfrapp's intention is quoted here if you're interested (she's referencing body fascism) but it's all pretty loose as befits the fantastic atmosphere of her work. Hear it as it sounds best to you xx. songmeanings.com/songs/view/68343/
The best Bond theme that never was.
MA QUESTO NON CI SONO DUBBI E' UNO DEI BRANI MUSICALI PIU' BELLI DI TUTTI I TEMPI A MEMORIA D'UOMO TRATTASI DI ILLUMINAZIONE DIVINA
Completely, diffeerent class tune!! The singing at the start, (and throughout, essentially), both the amazing, high tones from Alison Goldfrapp, like sweet, wailing opera, put against the deep, steady rhythm of her low tones... spellbinding! The tune composition is something to keep you spellbound too. Love it!!
Best song ever. Period.
In April 2020, I discovered this song yesterday and it is 20 years old, damn it seems so current
That’s awesome Goldfrapp are very currant . I discover them in 2000 on their first tour in LA so amazing live . Catch them if you can
thought i was the only one. the point is that their music it's still being discovered.
So good!!
I discovered it in May 2013
Why 'damn it' ? Welcome to the world of fantastic music, better late than never mate!
Remember buying this album when released! Having heard "My Lovely Head". Hearing this track for the first time, it was instantly played again! Beautiful vocals accompanied by beautiful music! Love it probably more now I'm older, than I did back then ! Also reminds me of the alien opera singer in the movie "The Fifth Element".
I discovered this song last Saturday on a Brad Taste In Music stream. I'm honestly shocked he only gave it a 7/10. This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to, and I can't stop playing it. It's pure euphoria. Thank you Alison for this masterpiece!
Yeah. This expression of art is unique
This song is the musical version of the famed painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Vermeer: mysterious, breathless beauty & longing. You feel it in every inch of your being!
same story here
He put it ahead of Muse, so he got that right
If I only experienced this three months ago I'd be so happy to hear something this amazing in a world of uninspiring music that we have right now.
I can't help but get emotional every time I hear this song
Still gives me goosebumps....and I’ve been listening to it every night for years.
This is for my school friend Yvonne we are going back nearly 70 years ❤ - the words to this song - utopia - we see forever thats who we are ❤️-
Love this song. When I seen them live I was blown away by Alison Goldfrapp doing the opera parts. I never knew it was her doing them in the track. You must see it live.
I love the angelic voice range. I feel Astral projective. I would love to be outside on a beautiful day on psilocybin with this one.
This music is pure magic to me, magic in real life.
Love it❤❤❤❤❤❤💜🍸🍸👍👍👍👍🥂!!!
Beautiful music never dies....
Hypnotic! This is one of those songs that won't get out of your head for a long time.
The Ultimate AI Song
This song is just a masterpiece of composition and illustration. One of my all-time favorites.
Forever, baby
There is no song that Alison sing, s that is better than another, they are all her masterpieces of music
When ever I listen to this I just melt. Incredibly beautiful voice and an amazing band. What's not to love?
I swung in a hammock, spread between the purlins in an attic, on a hot summer. Too hot to sleep in a bed. Glorious and thank you.
Heard this on Amazon Music today......love it!!!
One word : EXCELLENT !
GOLDFRAPP'S NEW ALBUM TALES OF US IS WONDERFUL.
I discovered Goldfrapp in a Sanity music magazine and I decided to buy Felt Mountain on cd after reading their review. Haven’t looked back since. 20 years later. Masterpiece.
Ahead of its time, unique, Iconic, underrated, beutiful and very powerful, are just some of the world i would give for this song. Utopia It is a masterpeice.
Сейчас красивее, чем была❤️
21 years wow. How did that happen. This is how I imagined music of the future to sound, when I was just 16 way back in 2000..all these years later and it isn't half as good as this still is! Her vocal range and ability is as always, astounding! Both of them true artists 🎨
f*cking masterpiece! Meisterstück! capolavoro! chef-d'oeuvre! obra maestra!
obra-prima!
Quanto mi mancava ascoltarla❤😢
Outta this Galaxy! 🦌⛤⛧🤘♥️♥️♥️
Complete brilliance
Today I listen for the first time this song on Spotify, one time is enough to understand the masterpiece that is.
And now that I see the video, just woow! One of my favorites songs.
The Best!
Simply superb. Timeless, ethereal and sooooo good.
An extraordinarily beautiful video for an extraordinarily beautiful song. Very evocative of certain moods and atmospheres associated with the smartest elements of the best Bond films and of chilly spiritscapes and lofty psychic or psychedelic interconnectings. Fantasies of psychic or occult omniscience. Felt Mountain has become one of my favorite albums of all time.
Anche per noi un album indimenticabile.....forever!
Me too.
Yep!
James Bond? No way!
Nearly 20 years old, no way ... great track and album!
This gives off a similar vibe like life in mono
Why has this never crossed me!??.....
You are one of the most brilliant singers of the quarter century worldwide
Still Very Euphoric
I drown in this maze of out of this world song in my ears ❤
Saw Goldfrapp playing Felt Mountain live at a very intimate concert in Lisbon a lifetime ago, was literally floored the whole gig, hipnotized even. I swear that Alison is a on a higher plane.
This song made my entire life better.
It will always make me well up in a Felt Mountain of emotion ;)
one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
One of my favourite modern pop/electronic songs.
its pure trip hop
I love this song
pozdrawiam i powodzenia! ;]
Went to add to my playlists, surprised it wasn’t already there... remember seeing them perform in Seattle more than a decade ago. Man… time flies.
Finally HD … i really cannot believe it
what a song!
By far...one of the most original songs I have heard in my life. Easily.

This song is simply insane. One of the best leftfield song made
This will go down as a classic, to this day when i listen to it, it still sounds new and fresh
Only album by her I still listen to. I always preferred the chill out style to the glam her following albums.
Pezzo magico per noi.....
its a, beautiful song .one of so many,so great to see comments from around the world, goldfrapp are a real global band in terms of music,i live in bristol not far where this is recorded and yet it feels like on different plane
Masterpiece!
