Worked during layoffs in Brand name auto repair. Refused to bring in a interior stinking, disgusting filthy vehicle. Nicely told Boss. He went out ,stuck his head in came in gave them their keys and told them we will not touch it. True story.
I’m not surprised at’ll
I was in the trade for 30years and could never get my head around someone allowing their car to get in such a disgusting state.
Insane right 😅
its caleld being a farm animal bro. Havnt you seen how dirty they get LOL
@@Aesthetics622😂
Ye, I try to keep my car about as clean as my home is. Even if bird drops something I many times clean it straighaway. Its like a house...
It is obviously not in use so there is your explanation.
I also refuse to work on dank mouldy sheds. If the customer won’t roll around in the mould themselves, then why should I?
Exactly that!
I think k this guy should be working in a scrapyard
Because you get paid.
Haha mate wouldn't the customer drive around in mould then🤣🤣
Glad you walked away from that, your health is priceless
I know, and to think there are people like “get on with it, it’s just dirt” 😂🤦🏻♂️
Even the mice would refuse to live in that car.
😂😂
Spent 25 years as a mobile mechanic before I retired.... Wish I had thought of getting a unit to work from as well because I hated working outside in the winter....
It’s brutal sometimes isn’t it mate
Could see the mould spores coming of the steering wheel as you were banging it.
I know 🤦🏻♂️ mistake that was
just a bit of dust
I had a similar fault in my C Class. It was the steering lock solenoid which needed to be replaced.
You are 100% right that moving the steering column might get it to disengage the steering lock but it looks like there was something else going on there as the car still wouldn't start.
You were just right to walk away with all that mould, it needs to go to a Mercedes specialist anyway but only after a proper clean.
It’s fine to carry on repairing it once clean it doesn’t bother me and shouldn’t be too difficult of a fix
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic I've heard if you can get the steering lock to release it's easier but if not it's a steering column out job. My mechanic replaced the steering lock with a cheap Chinese bypass as a new steering lock needs to be coded to the car.
Yeah I’ve seen these modulator kits, has yours lasted?
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic So far it's been OK but it was only installed a few months ago. I still have the original so I might try to replace the solenoid if I decide to keep the car long term. It occurred to me the module might not be high quality.
Cool, I know you can also get the originals sent off and repaired so maybe I’ll do that
Hey man there's a trick you can do removing I believe it's a 7.5 amp fuse it's the brown one on your cars the fuse box is on the driver side and it's reversed so that the fuse you need to pull is right in front and you also need to take out the green starting relay take off the cap so you can squeeze it and make the car start manually The process is stick the key in the ignition turn it all the way on to the run position Go to the fuse box take out that 7.5 amp brown fuse for 3 seconds put it back in then squeeze the starter solenoid it'll fire right up
Interesting, I’ll give that a try thank you 🙏🏻
The amount of pollen and mold inside is enough to give you a serious infection, see at the amount of loose moldy dust that comes off.....
So bad ain’t it
Wear a Covid mask 100% safe lol
😂😂
I would also have refused to work on that, disgusting & unhealthy to work in.
@@WorksopGimpMore like a sealed P100 respirator used for spray painting 💀
As a valater I've been to cars like this before, sometimes you have to refuse to do it. Not only not acceptable but how on earth can you have someone over to look at your car and leave it like that for them, totally insane!
Yeah I feel sorry for the bloke that has to clean that 😂
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic Me too!🤣 And I just noticed I misspelled Valeter 🤦♂️
Haha excellent 😂
Looks like a flooded car. Guy is probably going to try and flip it.
It’s quite a long time to flip a car 😂
A noob to ur channel. As to your wishes, I have subscribed sir. only seen this one video and enjoyed it. I'm a retired mechanic, had to give it all up cos of arthritis and prolapsed discs in my back. Iust going to binge some more of your wurk.
Thank you Gary, it’s sure hard on the body mechanic life ain’t it
Ditto! Working on mini's and other Leyland cars screwed me. This was the late 70's and early 80's. I can't tell you how many back and neck operations I've had, and now I have arthritis in my spine. Respect to you Sir.
Who would let their car get to that condition. Ridiculous
Insane right
Them smoke machines are good. I had to improvise with an e-cig and a pump once, but I found the leak 😂
Honestly best bit of kit I’ve bought, saves so much time
Your health is more important than a car that is full of damp
Totally agree, advise a deep clean but haven’t heard back 🤷🏻♂️
No good! You’re wrong.
Why? I’m wrong for putting my health first?
Dirty people , i wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
Disgusting !
🤮
That Merc looks just like the majority of homes from "Nightmare Tennants". I would have left it as well
😂😂😂
I agree with you walking away. I think there should be a premium cost associated with jobs like this. If it was me i would jet wash it, clean and vent the car before you came. Doesnt need to be spottless, just acceptable, where are peoples self respect??
Yeah exactly I don’t expect pristine cars to work on but tidy enough, some cars are just disgusting with all food and stuff in too
@@kerbsidemobilemechanicya it’s crazy when I bring my vehicles in for work I get everything out of them so there’s absolutely no garbage nothing the thought of bringing in or having someone work on filthy vehicle is embarrassing and would make me feel like such a slob
@@L3GHO5TI know, even when I get my car washed I do a clear out of any rubbish etc first, just common courtesy isn’t it
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic actually I think you nailed it there for some people actually a lot of people just do not have it any more it’s becoming or even become uncommon, just like *common* sense
Really enjoying the vids, keep em coming 👍🏼😄 don't blame you for rejecting the first car, not worth the lost revenue if you end up ill from those spores!
One thing I didn’t realise but watching the footage back how much of the spores was disturbed even the short time I was in there 🤢
I knew you were an expert when you hit the steering column like it would help. Dud.
It’s worked many times before as a temp fix. DUD!
Guess you didn't watch the rest of the video where he explains it.
Thank 🤝
Completely fair enough rejecting that Merc, what an absolute state it was in. Agreed though, seems like the EIS is dead. Common as anything on them.
Always useful having the unit to use when it's tipping it down, which it often is😂
I think you can get an emulator as well which is a much cheaper fix for these
Fair play leaving that merc I would of done the same. As you say probably steering lock. 🔒
Shall I send him your way? 😂
I've seen a few cars like this, an oddly disproportionate amount were motability. Then one of the drivers said they don't bother cleaning it because they get a free deluxe full valet included with every service??
When I worked at the main dealer the mobility cars were always absolutely trashed
i know a guy whos last name is Mould. i refuse to roll around on him!

212k on that b6 Audi a4. That 1.9tdi engine was solid. I had one on a 2004 that I ran up to 175k
My first van was a caddy with the 1.9 pd that had 210k on when I sold it
New subscriber - all the jobs I do regularly but can always use extra information/advice and you explain everything really nicely, cheers mate 🫡
Nice one mate 🤝
I do some vehicle recovery on the side around my home county. I had a lad call me to help get his car towed home and he was willing to pay extra as he was seriously panicked. When I got there, his car stunk - I mean stunk - of the wacky backy! Rubbish all over the inside, everything was grimey and the car was moldy inside. I refused to tow the car as he was essentially drug driving!
It’s only common curtesy isn’t I think
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic It was the lie that did it for me. I was told he'd broken down, not damaged car from driving under the influence. (Buckled wheel P/S/F) I sunk the cost in diesel, but hey, not worth any legal trouble, as he'd gone through a farmer's gate. Basically a crash, not a brake down lol
😂used to get that all the time working for the AA
KIRBY YOU DID RITE MATE TO WALK Away your health is most important mate i have been looking at the Xtool ds9 and the topdon diagnostic Phoenix plus 😊
👍
Im really enjoying these videoes and im also learning a lot from you as an apprentice mechanic 💯💯💯
Nice one 👍
I keep Bluetooth OBD II in my console and I got an engine Diagnostic App from Ford for my Mustang. So when my check engine light comes on I can look a the codes and see if I need a professional mechanic or if it something I can fix myself.
Very smart 👍🏼
Nice one pal great video as always the XC90 did you get the go ahead from the customer to do the job if so will you be filming it 🤞👍
Appreciate your upload 😊
I did mate, it’s been a bit of a ongoing nightmare with it tbh
That coolant leak you mention on the 1 series is very common on the diesel 1 series BMWs with the N47 engine 👍🏻
This was on one of those 3 cylinder petrol ones, seems common on all engines tbh
The ESL will activate in position one, if its working.
Battery Voltage needs to be GOOD so a Car standing without use for a number of weeks will be the worse one to fail and not energise the ESL
Once the motor in the ESL is faulty you need to replace it.
Nice one for the info mate 👍🏼
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic
Cool. I am on my 2nd c class and about to repair the ESL.
Let me know how it goes 👍🏼
11:16 what the hell is that thing! That's massive 🦅 😂
Haha I think it was a red kite 😂
Red Kite, they'll tear Crows to pieces in mid flight, I once saw one take a young lamb.
Are you sure about that? 😂
@@kerbsidemobilemechanicSeriously. In rural Berkshire. It dragged a baby Lamb across a field and into a ditch, then two others landed, and they tore it to pieces.
That’s crazy 😂😂
Would have liked to have seen the follow up result of the Volvo and the Audi... Did the Audi get a new battery for instance?
They are filmed on different days so may or may not feature
Aw geez dude. When you flung the wheel up it shot a bunch of alien spores at you! Showed up on camera. I hope you're alright.
I know, didn’t quite realise at the time how bad that was
North london area ??? just about every nice house has 1-2 cars rotting away in the front drive etc !
No not north London but you do see this loads more lately
I think you mean the ESL steering lock at fault not the EIS which is the switch,
Ah ok yeah I’m not to familiar with the terminology on mercs but yeah the switch, I believe you can get emulators instead for them?
Massive asset and vastly depreciating yet people treat them as throwaways. Good on yer
Mad isn’t it 😅
This is why i drive a 1931 Austin 7 simplicity at its best.
If it doesn’t start or work there’s only a very few things that’s going to be wrong
Modern cars are rubbish ,Austin 8 myself.
Good vid - like seeing people work on cars. Would be good to see a bit more detail
Thank you, not always possible to show more detail, as makes the videos super long, my channel isn’t meant to be a how to channel but more of just a vlog of what I get up to day to day 👍
Proper genuine guy! Keep the longer videos coming.
Thank you, really appreciate it 👍
Cars that have been standing like that all the relays and other electrics just corrode and bung up, its a real pain to sort out
We’ll see as I’ll be back to it soon
You have to put your foot on the brake for it to crank
Dash also needs to have ignition lights on
You're right but the key wasn't passing the column lock yet. With the state of the car I would have also made sure the key passed the lock before putting half my body in that vehicle to step on the brake pedal🤢
I had a 2007 C Class 14 years ago , and you could lean in , put “key “ in dash and it would start first time .
That car was a Biohazard... Why do people leave cars to get to such a state🤔
Cos knows how long it was like that for 🤷🏻♂️
30 years a mobile I feel ya 😢
Damn, that’s some good going, don’t think I’ll last 30 years doing this 😅
Here from marv!! And I wouldn’t of even done as much as you did in that car
Welcome to the channel 👍🏼
i had this issue before with my vehicle but the problem was that the gear shifter wasnt going into park , therefore the car wouldnt start in park and i would have to put it in neutral to start it , turned out to be a stiff linkage and shifter cable ... car starts every time now
Nice, I wish this one was that easy and cheap 😅
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic it was easy but it wasnt cheap lol , but you never know with those mercs , they seem to have a lot of christines in their lineup !!
😂😂
i dont blame you at all the amount of mold spores floating around.. not to mention the amount of bird crap which can contain all sort's or parasites i would not go anywhere near it..
Feel sick just watching it back 😂
😢 That's Exactly What Happened To My Mercedes S320,
Key Wouldn't Come Out Of The Ignition Barrel,

Such a over engineered design I think
does car need tracking after track rod end ?~you should show more in depth of the repairs where possible.
They do yes, sometimes time doesn’t allow for more in depth, thai channel is a daily vlog over anything else
I’ve changed a few front subframe bushes on them Nissans for knocking noises .. specially on higher milage ones
Yeah I went back to it recently and before going ahead with the replacement arms I had a look at the rest of the car and customer decided to scrap it
I use to own a carwash and people will bring cars thats been puked in with pieces of sausage in the puke still
🤢🤢🤢omg that’s so bad
The XC90 you just lock it with the key mate and the alarm won't go off............Boost issue on the XC90 is normally the boost control valve, sensor...one on the airbox one above the starter on the block.... The rubber hose from the rocker cover to the metal pipe do get cracked up and needs removing and cleaned out...I'm on 2nd one now lol...But the euro 3 lump your working on does not have swirlflaps thank god
Nice bit of knowledge there mate, video with the repair should be out soon 😉
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic Been round them 12yrs lol..But loving your content.
Thanks dude 🤝
Yeah esl electronic steering lock or eis. I had mine go out on my w204 c300 first time i punched the steering column and it disengaged and the key turned vehicle started. A few months later it locked up again punched the column and it wouldnt unlock. Mercedes dealership charged $860
I could of did it myself for $25 i see a video of a Korean kid on youtube who posted the step by step.
The dealer lied and said the esl needed to be vin'd and they lied. Just make sure battery is unplugged during removal and install
Yeah when I worked for the AA (same as triple A in America I believe) I had 50/50 luck getting these started like that when broken down, told the customer to drive to the garage and don’t switch it off
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic yeah very nice like your uploads.
And it's Mercedes what's their motto "the best or nothing"
Looks like it’s nothing on this occasion 😂
Wow and this is how the other half lives the first car .sometimes the posher they are the dirty there things are.
I wouldn’t want to see their home, then… 😷

It looks like the owner was breeding pigs in his car he should be arrested for cruelty to a car
😂😂😂
have you ever considered bringing something in the van to cover nasty seats that's washable?
If it’s that dirty then it gets declined until it’s clean, common decency I think
Well you would never make a miner if u think that’s dirty, try been out under the North Sea bed only 7 miles in the slurry and blackness.
I think you’re right
my merc did that tap it further down the small motor crap out i changer the motor in the lock
Common issue isn’t it
Get a cheap ozone generator and run it for 20 minutes in the car. That will kill all microbes so that you can sit in it for a while while working on it.
Have had this idea to - but just going around doing basic services like oil, filters and brakes.
Not my problem is the way I see it, customers if they want there car worked on it should be sufficiently clean
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic I totally agree. You seem to have more work than necessary. Nice channel, I like it!

I had a similar problem with the steering lock on my C63. When I put the key in the ignition the steering should unlock. I ended up only needing to replace the battery in the key and it was fine after that
Nice easy cheap fix then

I was very tempted but partly thought would only be a flat battery

That’s def the electronic steering lock I’ve seen it fail so many times on w204

Yeah exactly, and that’s why I think the emulator brings costs down
@@kerbsidemobilemechanic yeah but correct me if I’m wrong sorry, wouldn’t you still have to take it all apart to remove the mechanism so the steering wheel isn’t locked anymore?

ESL probably failed, EIS rarely fail, ESL does, I repaired those more than hundred times
