    Outrun is still one of my favorite games of all time. This guy is awesome! What I love about Japanese developers is they always seem to be very thoughtful and have interests outside of gaming that make their games so great.

    The fact that Seiichi Ishii`s name was left out of VF is a damn shame. But I guess being that the main designer for VF1, Ishii, migrated over to Namco to make Tekken 1, then left after Tekken 2...this guy is the real godfather of 3D fighting games. Not to take anything away from Suzuki but no one ever mentions Ishii.

    • @foyo5497
      @foyo5497 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Kind of. Both Miyamoto and Suzuki dont play video games. Only thing is, with Suzuki it shows. Suzuki`s game design is still stuck in the 90s.

    • @havoc7069
      @havoc7069 Před měsícem

      @@foyo5497I don’t know if that’s really a fair comparison as the only two games he’s made recently are both successors to his old games. Of course they’re going to take inspirations from those games design philosophy.

    • @foyo5497
      @foyo5497 Před měsícem +1

      @@havoc7069 While thats true, you dont see that with other games. Take the REremakes (2-3) for example. They could have left limited Ink Ribbons in the game for saving. But they didnt (among other up to date features) because QoL is more important than simply keeping an old game design philosophy.
      But Ill digress and say that just because a person like Miyamoto or Suzuki is at the helm, doesnt mean all the ideas came from them or controlled the ship. Games are usually a team effort. Mario Odyssey for example, Miyamoto took the backseat creative position and gave feedback, let the game designers basically do what they wanted. Same with BotW. I dont think Suzuki had this kind of backseat creative position on his last two games, he was more of the ship steerer. I would guess that if Miyamoto was the sole ship steerer, because he doesnt game, it would reflect terribly on the game.
      Most game designers love playing games too. Just like how ppl who create movies, comics, etc, also enjoy said media outside of just creating.

      15 Chapters doesnt mean 15 games. For example Shenmue 2 covers 3 chapters. And Shenmue 3 starts from chapter 6.

    Shenmue was way too rpg heavy.
    he should have started more lightly with a mix of vf and bare knuckles. [streets of rage]
    the development time of Shenmue killed itself and Sega.
    I played Shenmue, and felt quite bored very soon, I never finished it.
    do you know about the mad angels?
    each sequel getting more and getting deeper would have been better.
    retaining some work play and a few novelties.
    gathering clues as a detective and doing interrogations made the pace sleepy.
    knowing in advance that there would not be an ending before a few years did not help.
    streets of rage rpg divided in 3 games would not do so well.
    action fans don t like to waste time exploring, they want a faster pace.
    rpg fans prefer remote text commands to button timing skills.
    in streets of rage, trouble finds you and never lets up.
    in Shenmue, you seek trouble, but mostly chit chat about it.
    a balance between those would have been perfect.
    gta vice city, with a streets of rage mechanics would have been pretty good.
    camera rotation 'a la' vf would have given the 3 d effect and dynamism needed.
    Sega does nt need the best tech console anymore, a cheap one would do.
    their game heritage alone can sell a $200 console.
    from genesis to dreamcast, there are more than 100 great games.
    it s hard to go back to nes graphics, but not as much for genesis.
    as soon as the graphics match cartoon quality, it s pretty good enough to enjoy.
    streets of rage and golden axe are like comic book characters fighting, and it rocks!

      If you were expecting action from start to finish, then you're playing the wrong game. There's more to Shenmue than just action. Exploring the world of Shenmue was one of many things people loved about the game. It was that feeling of immersion that people got from it and it's one of the most memorable things about the series that fans love about it. It was not a "waste of time". Also, as for being "too rpg heavy", well that's not a problem with the game. It was originally supposed to be a Virtua Fighter RPG, so it should be no surprise that you'll see a lot of RPG elements in it too.

      @@gr8gmr I agree it suits you, in some way, I realise I expressed regret and looked forward the simpler game I d want, and guess what? I d still want a vf - streets of rage but more choices - texts - dialogue - endings, it still is one of my dream games, same with fighting vipers. so, you re not wrong in any way bro, I admire you still care so much after all this time, your passion, kudos to you!
