  • Starting today, Ford says that eligible Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners can request their free CCS to NACS adapter. The first deliveries are slated to begin shipping in March. Ford is also starting to roll out a software update that unlocks Tesla Supercharger support for Mach-E and Lightning vehicles.
    “Today, Ford F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E retail customers are the first of any non-Tesla automaker to gain access to Tesla Superchargers across the U.S. and Canada,” Ford says.

    As I recall, V3 chargers don't share charging current with other stalls so it should charge at full power. Also, welcome to Tesla Supercharging.

    • @Paul-cj1wb
      @Paul-cj1wb Před 3 měsíci +3

      The stalls themselves do not share power like V2s, however, they load balance with 3 others on the same charging cabinet. That's the genius of Tesla. Since the max 250kw is only for a short time and at low SoC, for them to be derated, 4 different EVs capable of 250kw would have to plug in at the vary same time and at the very same state of charge with on that same charging cabinet (not the stall/dispenser, but the same cabinet in the background). Making it almost impossible to happen.
      He was not getting the full charging speed of the Ford because it was at 49% SoC and the Lighting maxes out at 177kw to begin.

    • @scoty_does
      @scoty_does Před 3 měsíci +2

      I think V3's balance across 4 stations in my experience and go slower depending on how many cars are connected.

    • @Paul-cj1wb
      @Paul-cj1wb Před 3 měsíci +3

      @@scoty_does It's much more ingenious than that. Not only does it balance across 4 stalls initially, but it also burrows and balances from the next four, and if larger, from the next four and so on, so that in all it balances across the whole site. So unless the whole site is completely full, and all plugged in at the same time, and all with a low state of charge, you're going to get the full speed that you EV is asking for.

    Believe V4 chargers have longer cables, but definitely agree that I wish all of them were just 2-3 feet longer.

    • @Paul-cj1wb
      @Paul-cj1wb Před 3 měsíci

      The cables on current V3's cannot be any longer at their current width and still deliver 500 AMP's. They will over heat very easily because amperage is what cause the heat, and 400v chargers can only deliver really fast charging by upping the AMP's. However, on 800v, which uses higher voltage and lower AMP's, the cables can be much longer.
      On V4 Superchargers with their longer cables, they are also thicker because they still need to deliver high AMP's for 400v EVs including most current Teslas. For V3's to have longer cables, they will all have to be replaced with V4 cables in order to be any longer.

      It is expected by both Tesla and Ford that they will take up two spaces when charging. It's the only way they can charge because the cable won't reach any other way. Impacts can be minimized by leaving the rightmost stalls available for Fords.

    Correction. Only Version 2 Superchargers split the available current among two vehicles. And im not sure why you think Tesla should be responsible for other manufacturers having their charging ports in the wrong location. The left rear corner of the vehicle is the best location. I have Leafs and a fiat 500e, but my Tesla's location is the best. Back in to charge and, when charging is complete, justvdrive away with the best visibility.
