    This was a wonderful explanation. Madrid Airport is the best I've seen in Europe, a true wonder of architecture and organization. I wish this video existed in September 2021. I went there a few months after Covid international travel restrictions were lifted. T4 was closed, all flights came into T2, which I had no clue about. With T4 closed, I just assumed the only train was the Pink line...wow was it a long trip to Atocha and then Toledo. But in 2022, all was open, and all was good. I caught one of the Alsa buses to Burgos, it's so convenient! The airport authorities really take into consideration the traveler's needs, something not seen in other European capitals (cough, Paris).

      Thank you, David. Many people are scared of Madrid airport but we agree with your assessment, although we are probably biased as we know it like the palm of our hand. Compared to other large international airports, Barajas is a joy to navigate.

    Great videos, all of them! Thank you! I have seen quite a few on your CZcams channel. One thing I would like: a video covering rental-car tips and how-to's - for example when you land in Madrid or Barcelona - where are all the car rental agencies located and how to exit the airport in rental car and how to return the rental car back at the Madrid/Barcelona airports, in terms of driving exits, car entries, road tolls etc. Let us assume you have landed in Madrid or Barcelona airport but you want to rent a car at airport and immediately bypass these big cities and drive to another part of Spain, such as to Valencia, Girona, Toledo, Salamanca, Malaga etc.

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for your words, Yuri. We would like to do a video as the one you suggest, but it is incredibly complex. For instance, at Madrid airport, there are multiple locations for car rental companies. Each one with their own rules for the return of the cars. Also, if you arrive in Madrid, you might want to go in five or six different directions. We would have to record a five-hour video to cover all the ground! Until we come to a solution of presenting that information in a meaningful way, we have a series of Q&A videos where we can accommodate specific questions related to your trip. All the best!

    Wow! You just saved my life! I arrive at T2 and thought I had to go to T4 for the train. But it's easier just catching the Linea Expres to Atocha then taking a Bolt to the Sol area. Unless there's a more direct way to get to my hotel - Intelier Palacio de San Martín. Thanks for making it less intimidating.

    Always be careful of your valuables while at the/on train stations and airports. I almost got pickpocketed while waiting for train at MAD T4 train platform. I was busy looking at my phone while a guy was trying to open my backpack. Luckily the train arrived, I turned my head and saw him behind me with his jacket drapped covering my backpack, he startled and asked me to board the train as the train door opened. I was confused, shocked and boarded the train and knew that he was trying to open my backpack. I checked and saw the zipper was slightly opened. I didn't hear or feel anything while he was behind me trying to rob me. I was so relieved that he didn't manage to take anything, had the train came just 1 or 2 minutes later he would probably got my wallet which was in the backpack.

    Hi, Tony. Wonderful videos; big fan! Only one topic has been a little confusing: the Madrid Tourist Ticket/Tourist Travel Pass. I’d like to purchase a 4-Day Tourist Ticket for my metro trips around the city, but I’d also like to use the C1/C10 Cercanias train to get from Barajas to Chamartin station so I can then transfer to metro L1. I’ve seen conflicting information about whether the Tourist Travel Pass includes the C1/C10 Cercanias trains. If you might clarify, I would be very grateful. Kindly, A. Reyes

    hi Tony, could you advise me on how to load the airport surcharge on the 10 journey option on the way BACK to the airport please since it has to be done on the day of travel only? thanks!

      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Před rokem

      Hi Sara, as far as we know, the 10 trip option will have a 30% discount from 1 January to 31 June. To buy the airport surcharge, you will have to find an option on the machine to do so, there's usually an attendant at the stations who will be able to help you. Failing that, take the metro to the airport without the surcharge. Once you arrive at the airport, there are machines BEFORE the exit turnstiles where you can load the supplement. There are always attendants at the metro station at the airport.

    on my journey to Spain in September I took the C-1 train to and from the Madrid airport and Atocha. English language didn't work on the machines, from there it was a disaster, even with my limited Spanish and your instructions. Luckily there were people who took pity on me and helped me. Same thing happened on the Metro in both Madrid and Barcelona, although at this point I don't recall if there even was an English option. Btw, your comment that more people in the hotel and restaurant business need to speak English proved to be correct. In one restaurant in Madrid they only spoke Galician!
