This is arguably the most thoroughly explained and gorgeously looking episode of Film Riot so far. I love how you perfectly balanced comedy and seriousness. Back to the good old 10+ minute long episodes. Loved every second of this one.
Cheers!
I agree with you 100%.
Great job on this and the short you guys. I'm really looking forward to everything you guys have and are putting together for this Epic Summer series. Fantastic!
.
There are a lot of Ryan's and Connolly's that go into making a Triune film.
loving this video. can't wait for the next part!
good job on the video.
***** Love your vlogs :)
lol I watched 6foot right before this video!!
one thing you could of done is to designate a "scout" to put markers along to road to the set, this could be just a paper plate nailed to a tree with a arrow
The short was pure magic Ryan & really love having these behind the scenes to learn from! Looking forward to the rest of the series & more of your films man!
what if fat josh is regular josh and the josh we always see on film riot is josh in a skinny suit????????????????????
Thinception! mind blown
Man thats deep.
Lucas DiCiano Interesting point. But how do you explain the face mould?
***** well you see aaron, they first had to apply the skinny face mold before they even left the house to maintain the illusion of josh being skinny. Then once they were on set they applied ANOTHER layer of prosthetic to recreate josh's true fat face. simple science really.
I think Ryan should touch on this topic during the show clear any confusion anyone has.
Is it weird to say I find behind the scenes to any film/documentary more interesting then the film/documentary itself? That's just my opinion
You too?! Awesome!!
same
Kilo Five Airsoft ME TOO.
Ditto
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE
This BTS is even better than I expected. I was so glad to see you used your Energizer Lantern (I was kind of sure it was this light when I saw the short for the first time) I'm even more excited to finally get it now :D Can't wait for the next episode.
I'm already hoping you guys do this next summer too. This is amazing.
I'm so happy you guys go through and thoroughly explain all the processes, equipment, and issues that you have throughout the shoot. It is so inspiring and helpful.
now THIS, THIS is what I signed up for! Epic summer commence!
This was so incredibly well made. I can't wait to see a feature film from you Ryan and crew!
You guys nailed the Spielberg feel in this! So so good!
I am very impressed by all of that. The fact that you kept your composure through all of what was going wrong. All of your hard work paid off in the end. This is a huge learning experience for me. I hope to one day make a film that good. I look forward to seeing the next part.
I like how detailed and extensive this behind the scenes is. Very nice to see the whole process Ryan! Appreciate it.
Just finished watching all the assets in *_U.F.Oh Yeah - On Set Experience_*. Great job with the behind-the-scenes video. Looks like it was a tough shoot but everyone kept their sense of humor. I really enjoyed it.
I just want to say, "Thank you!" I'm learning so much in a fun/funny way. I am grateful for what you do.
This is absolutely wonderful. Thank you guys for doing this.
Ryan u are an "inspiration" for all film makers out there including me, really bruh u dont have the slightest idea of how grateful i am on the fact that u shared this. your awesome man, thanks a bunch
This is easily your best work! Well done to everyone who contributed to such a well written/directed short. The make-up is so impressive, I actually didn't recognise Josh at first!
Incredible! That really was one of the coolest episodes of Film Riot I have ever seen. Been watching since 2011! Keep it up guys, amazing really!
So, so good.... Hope there's also a VFX behind the scenes as well, not just the shooting. I know your UFO is probably just in there with Element 3D, but it looks so professionally "in" the scene, I can never make my Element 3D renders integrate that well, would love to see how you did it in more detail.
Amazing! This is just amazing! The short had a great fun story and looked and sounded absolutely stunning! And this first BTS episode already shows so many helpful and interesting things from the set. This is pure gold for the indie filmmaking community, thanks a lot!
Great job! Although I'd say this is closer to the upper end of the 'low budget' band.
Shutter Authority Just subbed you a day before :) Mind taking a look at my main channel Filmers Lounge ? Thanks CZcams.com/FilmersLounge
Sure dude!
I would say most of us work in the 'Micro Budget' band. In the real world, this is most definitely a low budget shoot.
***** Yes, I agree.
frozen
This is all amazing! Thank you Ryan for the inspiration
I am so glad that you made these behind the scenes parts!! :))
So hype for part2!
This is filmmaking gold right here !!! Thanks Ryan !!
So slick. So good. Looking forward to these next 3 months.
I LOVE this video, SO awesome to see you (Ryan Connolly especially) growing more professionally. Love the music. , and Josh was SWEET!!
Super cool to watch. Can't wait to see more EPIC summer!
this is awesome! can't wait for the next short film plus the behind the scene!
this is so inspiring !
It is so amazing what you guys pulled of this time. I can see how the quality always rises for every project you do. This time you nailed the look and feel of the biggest productions out there. I wonder if you will start making a feature based on outsiders next? I guess you are ready!
Incredibly insightful and interesting, can't wait for the rest.
This is some really awesome content guys. Glad to see y'all raising the bar
Its 2020 and U.F.Oh Yeah is STILL my favorite short!
this short was so good. just so, so good.
Awesome lightning ! for sure you and your DOP clearly knows what you are doing. And the C100 MkII looks awesome fully equipped !
This is freaking amazing!
Josh nailed this. I knew it was him from the first second the camera landed on him.
...even knowing I was still lulled into believing the character. He was perfectly convincing and made the whole thing real and entertaining so by the time he finished his monologue I almost clapped with him in glee.
I truly respect and appreciate the way every aspect is broken down and emphasis is placed on all the interwoven parts to the machine of film making. There is tremendous work to coordinate all of that. Contingency planning is damn near impossible- adaptive and resourceful qualities mixed with kind and patient attitudes has to be one of the hardest demeanor a person can adopt- and to have a crew of people working in that vein is beyond my experience and comprehension. So much respect to all the people that make all the parts.
I have no great aspirations like many of the fans do here, but never having really paid attention before to how this medium is created in my life sure makes learning now a wild ride. The nuance is, watching you folks interact makes me want to be better even though I have no need to. Very inspiring. Thank you.
You guys are so awesome!
Very valuable stuff here. Thank you guys for making these amazing videos and tips. Keep it up!
I LOVED it, continue with the EPIC SUMMER!!
Can't wait for the rest of April!
Love this!
You are going places my friend. The fat suit is incredible. Lighting & composition was extremely impressive. I'm a 17 year old filmmaker and this video definitely reminds me of my friends and I making films (even though all of you are much more experienced.) I love seeing your creative process.
I just love the work of Ryan booth :D
Although it wasn't as action packed as your other shorts, this was undoubtably the best and most professional. Felt like I was watching a Spielberg film.
Brilliant episode. I'd say it's one of the best you've done.
That was awesome! Everyone did a great job on this! Looking forward to the other short films.
Awesome short and great bts. It was my birthday this month which makes it even better. Also the costume was amazing and I didn't realize it was Josh until watching this now! :) great work!
Great job. Congratulations, it is just fantastic.
love this series really new and even more pro style
thanks very very interesting to see the way you work great behind the scenes on of the best I saw !!
Im so pumped for this!
love you guys!
This is beautiful! You guys truly inspire!
This is awesome!!!!
It looks like a TV show...... Better than a TV show!
I love you guys. So much.
WELL DONE ON THIS EPISODE GUYS, UFO YEAH IS SOOOO SICK
I love your BTS's and the discussion of lighting was inspiring. I watched another film maker talk about how you *had* to use pro equipment because if you didn't you would be laughed out of even the smallest productions. Even if you did have the pro equipment, you still ended up using some of the DIY stuff, and that is inspiring.
Love your behind the scenes videos. Keep it up!
these are so nice and useful to watch
So cool, you guys are really talented! The short film was beautiful! Congratulations.
I actually didn't know it was josh for like ever. I recognized his voice at first but then when it actually showed him I thought it was a COMPLETELY different actor. Then his voice sounded way too much like Josh and I wasn't sure if josh had voiced over the other actor for some reason, and then I saw the credits. Incredible. Freaking. Job. (Or maybe I'm just dumb xD)
Inside Michael's Head me too!!!!!!
I love the film! Thanks for showing all the bts stuff! I am really learning a lot while watching the "normal" film riot episodes and epic summer teaches even more! Awesome videos ryan!
Keep 'em coming!
BRICK IN THE YARD! Damn it, I love this short even more now!
One of the best BTS videos I've seen. Well-shot, funny, smooth editing, useful information... Love it!!
wow pretty informational, and the logo for the film riot epic summer and the music, awesome bts for an awesome short. Plus it also shows how much filmmaking is a team effort.
Great video as always!
This is freaking fantastic!
Second time under 301!
Really good film guys. I was so happy when this came up in my email.
YES!!! Its here!
Wait... that was JOSH??
Ikr
ha ha .I also thought that's someone else.
Josh was unrecognizable.
Dude, you are so right!! I mean, WTF??
lol Yeah when I first saw the guy, I thought he sorta resembled Josh but I thought it might be a cousin or something
So amazing..... SO AMAZING!!!
Absolutely amazing, I loved it!! Awesome BTS aswell, I look forward to the BTS just as much as the actual short haha
Keep up the amazing work!
GREAT JOB RYAN AND JOSH AND EVERYONE! Perfect ending.
