- Today's episode goes off with a BANG! We need some redstone so it's time to look into Witch farms again. Trouble is, they've been majorly nerfed in 1.18 due to the world generation changes. We'll compare 1.17 to 1.18 and see what we can do to improve rates. Our secret weapon is TNT with looting! We also tell the story of how we got our dogs back but did we defeat Zorgon? Awesome episode, Logic! The storyline had a great ending, I didn't expect that twist! I think the farm looks great, a nice balance between decorating and not hiding the mechanism of the farm itself.
Personally, in my world I don't use TNT duping, but I do use a sand duper. For me it seems more balanced because I still have to collect the gunpowder and craft the TNT. But once an official way to get sand renewably is introduced, I plan to stop using the sand duper.
i play 'vanilla+', so i just changed the TNT recipe so that it doesn't require sand
Minecraft should add a way to turn cobblestone to gravel, then to sand. It would be extremely useful aseptically because 1.18 lacks deserts.

Heya Logic! I fully agree that there should be a renewable source for sand, other than having to mine deserts until there's nothing left anymore.
But until then, I'd say it would be more than okay to be able to duplicate sand. Considering Gravel is now farmable as well, and the setup for a Sand duplicator via the End is still quite a bit of work.
It's used for so many things, and allows you more creative freedom. Taking out some more time for you to prepare for an episode as well. But as a rule, set it up just for sand. And not for Concrete powder or something.

Thought 1: though more complicated (and... yeah, definitely less practical) this tnt farm feels like it fills the same niche as Bedrock's trident killers?
Thought 2: Loved the end of the story! Had very 80s sci-fi vibes and it was a blast (...especially for Zargon, lol.)

We really need an update for the looting witch farm you made tutorial last year or so. Maybe you can give us a tutorial for this TNT witch looting farm since the last versions made witches spawn less because of the spawn nerf and of the bigger height map. Thanks for being one of the best Minecraft engineers and such and inspiration for the comunity in terms of farms and knowledge.

if the time between the flying machines launching and the TNT exploding is a bit longer the witches probably have a shorter lifetime because the TNT doesn't explode when the witches are still on their way. This may result in better spawnrates
Yo, this is awesome! I've been thinking a lot about making a kind of mid-game general mob farm that also gives xp, but getting fast kills without making a perimeter has been an issue. This tnt looting setup would be perfect!

Awesome video. A suggestion for a future farm, maybe try and build an enderman farm outside of the end? not sure if it would be easier in overworld or in the nether but I am sure you could figure something out.

That may be a little bit inefficient with the cost of tnt, but it is really ingenious and fun, and has a lot of moving parts, which always makes the farm look livelier :D

You should make the AFK spot/sorting system for the with farm into a UFO of some type. You already have the tractor beam going to the ground. Or maybe the Romulan mining laser from Star Trek. Would keep everything visible but add some pizaz to it

On the topic of renewable sand, might be worth gauging peoples opinions on carpet's renewable sand feature since that is a semi-vanilla implementation. It's not everyone's thing but might be worth suggesting in the next episode and see what people think or even on twitter because you have carpet installed anyway iirc s it doesn't seem too far fetched.

Oh, oh. You gave me an idea! Glass is sold by librarians. You don't need sand for glass once you have villagers. So how about instead of renewable sand (boring!), what if nitwits would occasionally drop or place TNT? So instead of being useless slackers, they would be a very useful reason to be concerned. (I could go for a fireworks profession as well, but the nitwit pyromaniac sounds more fun)

It should be possible to get sand AFK. Doc showed a flying machine that can lift blocks and slabs are movable with pistons. So flying machine to drop sand on slab seems possible.

What are some good farms to use that use villagers? I made your villager breeder and the "villager trading hall" as well as an iron farm and looking for something else that uses villagers.
How are you able to align the water to flow toward the stonecutter like that?

tnt looting witch farm seems really cool. my question is when you stated you wanted to take the witches out as fast as possible instead of transporting them up, would it have been possible to use a portal elevator to do so but without breaking any of the rules laid out (i don't remember the laid out rules off the top of my head, IIRC one is not using the nether roof)?
You could probably use the same design as the creeper farm from one of the previous episodes. And that's most likely why he's not using the same design here - it would be the same thing all over again :D

How did you make the bubble column flow over the stonecutter?
Looks like it wouldbe more efficient if you add a little bit of delay before the tnt is activated

I know you have not uploaded for a while, but I have a question. Earlier I build a creeper farm on my singleplayer, but it does not work. I have tried everything I could think of, and have just tried to test it in creative. Im my testing, I have found that mobs do not really want to spawn on blocks that are not the ones that loaded when I make a world. So if i make a platform, no mobs spawn on it, or at least only very few, even tho it is the only place they can spawn. Do you have an idea what might be wrong?
1 Minor concern with the witch farm, is it lightning proof? I know you don't want to add too many blocks above the witch farm, but surely that is preferable to it blowing up in a thunderstorm.
On the topic of renewable sand, they already have the perfect mob: the Husk. And while this isn't a new suggestion it just seems so simple and straight forward.
That's a good idea re husk, have them drop a few sand with looting & the entire issue's fixed. Would be cool to have a new farm needed rather than just mob farm but I can't think of anything
