This movie was such a disappointment. For those not aware, this is technically an adaptation of the book Jumper by Stephen Gould. Amazing book. Fun fact, they changed so much of the original story in this movie that the author actually went and wrote another story, about Griffin's backstory, that takes place in the universe of the movie, and that's actually really good too. Sign of a great author. Great book turned into an awful movie that the author then changes back into another great book. Heads up for any interested in reading the books, the original takes place in the 90s, is somewhat darker in tone, and deals with terrorism and domestic abuse. You might want to start with the Griffin Backstory like I did, but the original book is now one of my favorites of all time.

In star wars Haden does pretty damn good for a damaged young man turning into a man. It would make sense Anakin would be a fair bit broken as his Mother was most likely always talked down to for being a slave and despite knowing that is the wrong way to treat someone he would still have a good chance of adopting some of those behaviors. Then you put in the fact he is a very powerful prodigy and gifted in many fields of combat and versatility so him being cocky would make sense.... He sucked in Jumper though.

They could have had it switch from both David and Griffin's perspective at the very least so that way we would understand the better character and know why he wants to kill the Paladins so badly. It would also give ppl a break from dealing with David the whole time. It also would have been so much more interesting if Griffin and the Paladins relucted worked together to take down David. And Jumper Griffin's Story is worth a read too if you want something in a similar vein to the movie: kid is being chased by this unknown organization that can seem to sense his jumping abilities, a new concept called jump rot is introduced (though it could be argued that this was also introduced in Impulse when David learned how to quickly teleport between two points, it just wasn't named as such), his parents are killed... never in the entire book is the organization's motives made clear, they're just hunters until the very end where Griffin decides to take the hunt to them.

... honestly I think that would have made it wayyyyy better. It "explains" a lot of the bad parts. Why he steals to live, the whole mom being evil thing, religious fundamentalists hunting him down...even the girl though that's kinda Hollywood either way. Lot easier to sell the beauty and the beast thing than "this girl is apparently trying to get murdered"
Also why he'd be just forgotten about, if he was some blue skinned tailed freak he'd probably be homeschooled, and then one day he's just gone.

I think if anyone else played the lead guy they would’ve done the sequels like they wanted too but because of Hayden’s performance it tanked in the box office. I think also people were still looking at Hayden in a negative light especially considering episode 3 came out 2 years prior, idk those are just my thoughts but I still will enjoy watching it from time to time

4:20 if you watch the film you can clearly see that the jumps are only loud when he first gets his powers and is learning how to use them, after the time skip, when he's had a few years to master his powers, the jumps are quiet. The scenes where they are loud jumps after the time skip are usually done intentionally or due to him being in a stressful situation
