Well I think Valkyrie said it right- "I think I liked you better either one of the ways"...
I like that banner better not the mopey one. Banner l's growth is one of the best parts about the character. He went from sad to glad.
He's always angry.
Before he got to space, he was always uptight and somehow serious. Understanding the hulk and being one with the hulk changed him. He always thought that hulk is a curse inflicted to him but when he understood that the "other guy" is not bad and willing to coexist (same with him), he changed.
Steve:"You're not the guy to make the sacrifice play."

neither of those are a threat
Stark's father helped to create what was in that "bottle" lol (maybe this is part of his grudge against his father, creating a real hero while dismissing his own son's need for attention and affection)
You literally copy and pasted this comment.
Just some pride and ego clashing together
Lol i'm pretty sure the scepter/mind stone didnt affect Thor. Thor just wanted to join the brawl.
@Gianpaolo Sitohang what about his bro?
@Gianpaolo Sitohang The directors said that the mindstone actually "inflated" every bitter thought and emotion he ever had, made him embrace his hate and overall got his anger to control his actions. Add to this that he was 16-17 in Asgardian terms and had recently gone through identity crisis and (probably still going) depression, and you have the perfect recipe for madness. That's why after Hulk smashed him around (and he got out of the effects of the mindstone) he surrendered with no resistance. He actually never wanted to do what had done, so he didn't care.
@Gianpaolo Sitohang hold on a second, there's a small detail I just noticed. When Thor does the "you're so petty, and tiny!" He sounds almost drunk. And the camera as well is very shaky and tilted. That's a small detail but it amazingly shows how much the avengers are under the influence of the Sceptre.

@@permagamerog5332 Bruh you're a dumbass, obviously the others were under the influence of the stone - that's not up for discussion. Your 'joke' only shows just how much of an idiot you are, learn to read buddy.

Guns are worse than useless against the Hulk. Better to have both hands free so you can vault over things and open doors easier to gtfo.
"I put a bullet in my mouth, just for the other guy to spit it out" That is hardcore. Probably still one of the darker scenes or deeper rabbit holes of the MCU I miss. "the other guy" when he meets Natasha "you don't use that, and the other guy doesn't make a mess" Always the other guy. The word Hulk doesn't even cross his lips.
I do miss the somewhat darker moments of Marvel and the past Hulk's actual power and uncontrollable damage.
This is a reference to a deleted scene in The Incredible Hulk: m.czcams.com/video/JzSWaMAcMbg/video.html
Not even that, but also some subtle hints that everyone except Tony was also scared shitless of the Hulk and/or the damage he can do.
Black Widow: We see this both when she recruits Bruce and after she has to run from Hulk. Most notably when Bruce snaps at her earlier in the film you can tell she’s visibly scared. This trained assassin who fears basically nothing broke composure at the thought of one man losing HIS composure.
Nick Fury: Implied with the cell he’s currently keeping Loki in. Keep in mind this helicarrier was probably built ages ago, and he STILL felt he needed a Hulk-cage just in case. (While it’s not exactly confirmed that it was for Hulk specifically, there’s the consideration that the cage itself can be dropped from the helicarrier (which is presumably likely flying at great heights) and also likely intended to KILL whoever’s inside… Some kind of mechanism is definitely built for specific creatures in mind.)
Captain America: A man of the men, naturally his biggest concern is the safety of everyone else on the carrier. The idea that someone could and will most likely get hurt or worse if Bruce ever turns into Hulk. There’s also a chance he’s seen or read some logs about how indestructible Hulk is, which probably doesn’t help.
About the only two people who seem rather chill about it are Thor (who’s out of the loop anyways), and Stark who humanizes Bruce the most out of anyone in the crew.
@@Gamesmarts194 Thor doesn't know nor understand the threat the Hulk truly is. He begins to do so once he takes on the Hulk, and the expression is clearly on his face. Following in that confrontation, Thor derives satisfaction from the drop of blood he receives in his battle with the Hulk. Almost as if to say, "FINALLY, a REAL challenge".

That perfectly sums up Tony, if there’d any other way he’ll do it, until Dr Strange presented a situation where “there was no other way”.
And honestly that is why I prefer Tony over Steve. Steve's ideals blind him and that supposedly makes him "worthy". In my eyes, Tony should have been able to lift Thor's hammer, not Steve.
Yeah Steve was not a very good leader in this movie. In the First Avenger he became a leader by just doing, and through doing, others followed. In this movie he was trying to be a leader through words. Thankfully he grew out of that in later films.

True.
Banner and Starks friendship in particular makes me wish we got a Hulk and Iron man solo film. Would’ve been interesting to see how the former plays off the latter.
I think Age of Ultron wasn't that bad in case of the Hulk. Yes he could control himself more than in Avengers, but this is logical. Hulk didn't know anyone of the others in the first movie and in the end he saved Tony. After that it was clear that he had some level of trust for the others as we can see in AoU. However as soon as Bruce got terrified, Hulk was on his way to destroy a city and he had to be stopped by Tony and the Hulkbuster. After AoU everything with Hulk got messy.

Tony was at a pretty low point during iron man 2 seeing as he had basically given up on finding a cure for the palladium poisoning
I’m not sure Bruce and Cap were exactly best friends at this point. Just about got comfy enough to call each other work colleagues if anything. A more accurate reading would be that Cap’s face here is that he understands what a person might endure but nothing is worth suicide: so he is empathetic but also firm and sticks with his morals. Your reading of Tony’s face on the other hand I agree with. That Shrapnel and traumatic experience in iron man 1 gave him the works for sure.
I saw another theory that Tony's face isn't just Tony Stark, it's Robert Downey Jr. as well. Robert struggled with bad addiction and even served time for it before he became Iron Man. Who knows what he went through and what kind of bad thoughts he struggled with.

The disorientation that shows when Thor laughs and then leading into Bruce's suicide confession. That scepter is strong.
Not the scepter, but the mind stone on that scepter. That scepter itself is nothing. Its the stone. The scepter is probably made to fit the stone to carry it around. As wielding the stone with your bare hands if you are not strong enough to withstand its power can be devastating.
Dutch angle/Deutsch angle/Batman angle. It's also seen in comics, and is used to create a sense of imbalance, or dynamism. Combined with a bit of dolly zoom/Vertigo zoom, you get a very deliberate sense of unease.
Stark: “Take that super serum away and what are you? Just a weak man”
Rodgers: “Well, a...uh..”
What is left is an immortal idea in a body of a weak man. And death of such a body will not mean the death of an idea. Quite the contrary in fact.

Vinxk a weak human? Stark is pretty damn strong even without the armor. In iron man 1 he was carrying around a car battery like nothing when it was connected to his chest.
0:11 is one of the _only_ times Fury ever shows fear in the MCU. He didn't look afraid when Loki attacked the compound, not when Ultron picked up a city, not even when he was _dying._ But the thought of coming face to face with the Hulk for the first time?
That _terrifies_ him. And keep in mind, this is years after he met Carol. Sam Jackson's facial dialogue masterfully conveys a sense of dread it's clear Fury has never felt before.

Of all those in this scene, the one that’s most heartfelt is Bruce.
The story of how the Hulk won’t even let him *die* is wrenching...

"Why shouldn't the guy let off a little steam?" Tony says casually as he places a hand on Cap's shoulder. I think he was hoping Cap might back him up so that Bruce would be reassured that they weren't afraid of him.
And the worry on his face when Bruce picked up the scepter. He was like, "No, bro, don't hold it; don't make them want to shoot you." He was always a great friend to Bruce.

Loki used the mind stone in the scepter to amplify the emotions of each individual, hell, he may have fabricated the emotions entirely. These were two grown men hitting each other below the belt, face to face. You think that shit just happens?
I'm pretty sure Loki didn't know about the infinity stone inside the scepter. No one knew about the stones at this point in the MCU. But yes, they are likely under influence of the scepter/stone.
To be honest I'm not that sure anymore about my previous comment. But whether or not Loki knew about the stone, yes, he definetely knew the scepter could influence people's mind even without his direct use of it. @1:32 you can tell Tony is being affected.

Why does no one wanna talk about the fact that banner legit just admitted he tried to commit suicide
because it kind of makes sense for the character to be depressed i guess. he's not a teenager going through the motions or a regular guy living with clinical depression, he lost his old life as a scientist and keeps transforming into a murderous rage monster whether he tries to do good or not. Who *wouldn't* try to commit suicide?
I watched the old incredible Hulk TV series, I'm used to banner being in a dark place

Also back to the scene where he’s in the that shed type thing with Natasha. What was her game plan if he didn’t come with ? Gonna force him to come with and make him do research. The only way the could possibly kill him is if they tranquilized him then quickly stuff him in that tank and drop him.

What a predicament for Banner. To know you CAN'T die, even if you wanted to
I agree with tony here. Don't try to make unnecessary self sacrifice when you don't need to.
and he did sacrifice him self
Well, Tony did make a sacrifice when he went into the portal with that nuke, simply because there was no other way, he couldn't hack into that nuke's system to steer it into the portal, so he had to go into that portal with that nuke to stop the Chitauri invasion.
@@jakubkruk but he didn't really need to go into the portal...once he steered the nuke in the vertical direction it would have gone in the hole by itself...

I do it pretty much every day, because if I don't, I'll get called 'emotional' or 'difficult', or might just literally get murdered. So I'm an expert at controlling my anger because I do it infinitely more than you!"
Yeah, shit's sad. They pretty much killed hulk / bruce in the MCU now
In all fairness, She-Hulk has *never* had the same difficulties as Hulk as, as she was the only Hulk to become such out of compassion, and had a balanced life before becoming it and thus enjoyed being a Hulk, if anything transforming into a paragon of confidence. The consequence being that she wouldn't end up ever reaching the heights of Hulk's strength.
I think the biggest issue with the Hulk isn't necessarily in how he's portrayed, but that he never got his own movies so we only really experienced snap shots of his life, without really being able to dig into him. He's always sharing screen time with someone else, and became smart hulk off camera. We didn't really get used to him in the same way most characters had solo outings.
Yeah nothing like being cat called compared to being afraid that at any moment you can lose control and level an entire city killing everyone there without a shred of control. You know you wouldn’t wanna be called emotional 😂
@@lordbiscuitthetossable5352 The last good scene the Hulk had was when he turned back into Banner after seeing Natasha's message. The look of horror on his face and Thor looking at him knowing that he can't do anything to help him are amazing. The way the camera is shaking and follows him gives the impression that he's being watched.
He punching himself can be interpreted as three things:
1- To keep himself angry in order to not make Banner come back.
2- Bruce is gaining control of his body and it's punishing Hulk for what he did.
3- Hulk feels guilty because he left one of the few people that loved him at some point.
I like to think that it's all three. The visual storytelling of the MCU isn't that appreciated... because mostly doesn't exist, but that scene is one of the proves that it actually exists and it's amazing. There's just three words during that scene and they don't feel out of place.
It's a shame that Hulk and Banner are treated as lame jokes during the rest of the movie, but what can we do? Waititi despises this characters.

1:29 I love that low angle. For some reason it makes Thor look like some drunk jock whilst also making him appear bigger than the rest
That angle plus the shaky cam hints at the mindgames the scepter is playing on the Avengers, getting them angry at each other
2:15 perfect Angle showing he's bigger than any of them:)
Also Chris Hemsworth most taller than any of them in this room he's 1.91m 2nd who played here fury 1.88m,
Perfect cinematography homage to the first thor film which is full of dutch angles (tilted angles)
The fact that even Bruce was affected by the stone speaks loads. Bruce banner is known for having one of the 2 strongest wills in the Marvel universe, beaten only by the thing. He spends every second of every day fighting the hulk, trying to stop it escaping. Powerful telepaths have found his mind unreadable.
And the stone played him like a damn fiddle
Took me 5 years to realize Banner wanted to turn into the Hulk here
That was his party trick
I like how Banner focusses his rage not through the hulk but through grabbing the scepter
This is my favorite scene from the entire movie. Captures Hulk's depth so well. And look at everyone and their reactions when they watch Banner talk. Perfectly on point, perfectly in character. Brilliant stuff.
