Rules:
1. No unique gear of any kind.
2. No BAR.
3. No offensive shield.
4. No direct damage through any means outside of Phaselock and Phaselock accessories where possible. For instance, Helios, Converge, and Ruin.
4-1. This includes any skills such as Blight Phoenix and even jumping on enemies. Phaselock only means Phaselock only.
5. On any violation of the rules above, the area must be reset via save/quit or a hard reboot of the game.
Borderlands continues to break at any given turn, so why not try to lock some things down into some level of consistency? Oh... Oh, that's why.
Jokes aside, pretty much any excuse to play Maya is a great time for me. It's always a heck of a nostalgia trip, and I find it comforting even through various levels of vaguely nightmarish challenge runs.

For anyone who loves the grind, I think it's genuinely a great experience. Also, between the creation and release of the video, I have gotten a chance to dig into it a fair bit, and I can confirm. I'm loving the additions in the update. Now to make my book scarier...
I played Warframe for ages but i honestly burned out. Not sure why. Part of it was definitely the frame designs stopped being unique and really blurred together after a while - plus they became less and less organic looking with time. Another reason was the billion extra systems that were largely unconnected to one another

@@Haru-spicy this pretty much. It's not fun when EVERY mission becomes a grind for something necessary to get 2% more powerful. At a certain point it became less about having fun and more about what's most efficient, and that's not always good game design. Especially when that's the ENTIRE game design.
Just wanted to jump on the mention that Warframe runs on "practically anything": don't be deceived by how good the game looks, it runs SPECTACULARLY WELL on low end PC hardware. I saw someone get double digit frame rate on a damn Chromebook.
@@DaniRadriendil and honestly, the graphics can become "too good" at a certain point. The level of detail and flashiness hurts my eyes quite often so dumbing down all the AF and bloom makes it easier to play.
I am 90% sure that the Heros Pass stairs are there exclusively to block access to Claptrap. Jack does not like that robot.
That does kind of track... Following Claptrap's "Jack was coming after me" line, it does make me wonder... why _didn't_ Jack come after him? Finish the job so to speak. For better or worse, Claptrap is slowly increasing the number of his kind in the universe. As long as we don't consider the events of Trashlantis.
@@SpuddyCube I'm guessing it's because Claptrap is, by Borderlands 2, outdated and his access codes for Hyperion locks would be completely out of date. A portion of the game was spent giving Claptrap upgrades so he could be useful in opening Hyperion doors again.

I'm pretty perpetually after the mastery grind. Always looking to pick up more gear. I love that the fashion is so in depth for those that enjoy it, but I prefer not having the visual distraction during play. In a sense, my fashion is just very tactically boring.
@@SpuddyCube And that's why Warframe's fashion is unmatched. You can have the most insane combination of colors and armor, or the simplest and most one-toned palette on everything, and Warframe allows them both.

6:00 Yep. You can be hit by them in that spot, but it is extremely unlikely. I used that spot during a particularly miserable OP levels run in which for whatever reason I was horrifically undergeared. I don't remember the circumstances, possibly because I blocked them out to avoid traumatic flashbacks, but I do remember some of the creative cheese I found.
Fun video as usual. I think after the last few runs, you were due for a... relatively... simpler run. I honestly wish that Phaselock tapped more into the sort of elemental chaos that Maya's design kind of hinted at but didn't really commit to. As ineffective as the Phaselock augments were at max level, it was so satisfying to set off all those elemental effects, and left me craving more.
That part about always cherishing the people you love because you never know which goodbye will be the last is so true. The last time I spoke with my old GF was entirely unremarkable, and I didn't even really say goodbye at all, just a normal see you next time that never came to pass.
I'm really sorry that you had to go through that. Losing people in any capacity is never a great experience.

You should try beating BL2 (or 3?) with only reflected damage. Spike shields, nova shields, Maya's Kinetic Reflection and Recompense come to mind, though maybe there's some other ability I'm forgetting.
There is already a Recompense Only run on the channel!

There's also a shield only run. Both were... a lot. At some point, I plan on taking on the third game with a similar idea in mind, but it's almost definitely going to be painful.

Totally agree. I just tried to do a deathtrap only run the other day and I was bored out of my mind by the time I got to Wilhelm because of all the waiting.
Glad to be of help! Despite everything, I do genuinely enjoy the skill based runs. As bad as grinding EXP can get, it's certainly no gear grinding. Or learning Gibbed, because as helpful as it can be for labbing, it's not even remotely user friendly.

I think the hardest part about putting together a Warframe run is just deciding what all needs to be done for it to be complete. There being no hard end makes it complicated, because not everyone will agree where the end then lies. But damn would it be fun to get to do for the channel...

I know Joltz did it a long while back. I have considered trying it on a higher difficulty, but I tend to try to steer away from things that have already been well documented. Otherwise, a Deathtrap run is _right_ up my alley.
This is my third time watching this, and subsequently listening to the fact that spuddy plays warframe. And yet! I didn't ask the one question I've had through every watch through.
Spuddy, and anyone else who would like to answer! Who is your favorite warframe?

To give the boring answer, my favorite frame generally changes for the situation. Things like Saryn for dealing with missions that require more kills. Before the eximus buff, I'd use Limbo for pretty much any defense I could.
To give the less boring answer, I used to main Volt, because I love his four. Discharge was phenomenal for CC and reasonably good for damage. With the eximus changes, it's a lot harder to get away with that. As such, I've gravitated toward Wukong. He's more than tanky enough for most mission types, has a buddy for moral support, a defensive buff for when I need a moment to breathe, and Cloud Walker. If I could subsume Cloud Walker, I'd seriously consider a different frame, but... It's fantastic for travel, healing, invincibility, stealth, and lets me ignore things like laser grids. In so many words, he's fast, versatile, and incredibly comfortable.

you, gas mask and joltz. And if im not mistaken ive watched most of your bl2 runs at least twice, just because they're so well done.
Wukong and saryn are great picks, and im currently grinding the plat out to get his prime, just so i can experience that incredible movement.
That being said, have you tried Garuda? I can't recommend her enough. If you have a styanax subsumed, you can easily replace blood altar with tharros strike and completely change her play style from a slower more sedentary melee frame
To an armor stripping melee massacre machine.
And for higher end content, status procs just aren't a problem because her 4 has immortality and slash/bleed procs. Making it easy, and efficient to wait out stat procs in an almost parry sort of way.

Next video should be can you finish a story quest in warframe with only bullet jump kicks. They apparently do 30 dmg per kick.
I would worry about any defense based objective, even if only due to some later game content. I know there are also a couple of objectives that can't be, but the number of mods for bullet jumping does make that a lot more interesting than it should be.

was not expecting a warframe ad but im pleasantly surprised, have you considered trying any warframe related challenges? star chart with only the credit purchasable weapons or something?
I have considered a few things, but it's hard to figure out where exactly some lines should be drawn. Like, what mods would I take with me? What sorts of spoiler/frame abilities should be on the table? What should constitute an actual victory? Something like the star chart is an option, but most of the nodes are going to be functionally the same for the purpose of a run. Steel Path + the highest level mission type for each faction would in theory be an option, but... In so many words, it's complicated.

You've really tempted me into getting back into Warframe, again. But unfortunately, even though the gameplay is peak fun, the story, or the progression, I never know where the fuck to go or do next.
Personally, I went the route of using the player profile as a checklist for gear. Mainly prioritizing getting frames, then branching out into whatever I thought would help with the content that I was focusing on. At the moment, Revenant Prime + Prisma Skana have been doing a lot of heavy lifting for me.
@@SpuddyCube Sure, getting frames is poggers, but just aiming for the components gets boring when you do the most effective mission for them over and over. Dropped the game twice because of it. As far as I know, getting components is the name of the game. There's never a quest marker that pops up to tell where to go next to get the next piece of story, I just happen to stumble upon some piece of content early or late.
I just also want to get stronk in general and explore whatever the fek the story has to offer. As in much of a chronological order as possible. Last time I ended up in Deimos. No clue what was happening or why but I did some missions there. Then left. There's also the alliances. No clue what they were for or which one to join and why. The game gets incredibly confusing very quickly.
First time I've seen lt davis die is this video and I've been playing for years and done 4 runs this month 😂
It makes me wonder if Jessup's was made so obvious in the DLC as a response to how easily overlooked Davis is.

I think the Warrior was something closer to ten minutes with the thirteen second cooldown. I don't always pay too much mind to how long the run itself takes, but funny enough, this one was on the shorter side of things for me at around Fourteen hours and twelve minutes.
But can you do it without Phaselock?
It's difficult... But I believe it can be done.

You know what's funny? Maya's Phaselock Action Skill was so good that the developers brought it back as Phasegrasp for Amara. Crowd Control abilities are pretty much always MVP.

I've always done the open door mission in DSP but never thought I could actually cheese some XP all the way to Lvl 5. Honestly, I dropped 2 to play 3 but hey, now I know.
And also honestly, the Grimoire is a terrible weapon. The last thing I'll ever bring on a mission. I have dozens of weapons that just sit in my arsenal that I would dust off over that thing.

I think the shield regen on enemies would complicate things. And I know that the health regen on enemies would make UVHM impossible.

I'd definitely like to revisit Remnant two at some point, but I think a skill run would likely be too close to the summon run that I already did. I could see a melee playthrough though, even if only to continue the tale of Margaret.
@@SpuddyCube I would not mind a melee only run even if the final boss would have you use either Huntress' Spear or the Krell Axe, where one definitely gets more love than the other
I love your challenge runs and watched this and thought "this makes me wanna see a Remnant 2 skill only run" - so I went back and watched the Remnant FTA melee and summon runs as well as Remnant 2 summon runs
I do agree that a skill only may basically be the same as the summon only with summon only being on skills
But what about the thought of mods? Not mods like bullet mods but mods that have you use ammo

Both yes and no. I've made a few, and even one that's at least kind of nice, but I haven't really been able to do much in a while.
When next I have the time, I think I'd like to try my hand at a chef's knife, but that does mean doing some repair work on the forge.

In the general sense to each their own, but like I said, I personally really enjoy the grind. It's similar to Monster Hunter in the sense that the grind _is_ the gameplay. I can understand why waiting twelve hours to a few days for bigger items can be bothersome, but it's not like there's a shortage of things to do in the meantime.

I'm glad you can enjoy it! As far as mental health... well, life is a journey. I like to think that my average state of being is trending upwards, but paths are very rarely flat and straight. They have twists, turns, hills, and valleys. And I can't honestly say that I'm feeling phenomenal and that everything is wonderful, but I can say that I'm doing at least reasonably well, and I'm happy with where things are going. I do also appreciate the concern, though I hope to not elicit too much worry.

Just because a bit of heartfelt advice doesn't resonate with you doesn't immediately make it pessimistic, it just doesn't connect to you in particular. Other people may need to hear it, and others may be comforted by it.
