In this video I'm going to talk you through some of the most common mistakes that beginners make in FPL. When I say 'mistakes', I don’t mean opinionated mistakes such as ‘taking too many hits, because that for me is subjective. There’s many ways to play the game and some players can do very well with a hit-taking, aggressive style.
What I mean is genuine, physical mistakes where some of the less experienced players may not completely understand the rules of the FPL game. These mistakes are very common amongst beginners, and can easily have a negative impact on your FPL season if you don’t know about them in advance. - Sport

Already made 4 of them😂,4th week with 30 points
I am a new player this year, I have not followed the PL so closely in recent years and I don't know 3/4 of the players, however after game week 2 I am 481k was 743k gw1.
So what have I learnt in the first 2 weeks:
- Get tips from experienced FPL players, you could copy their team but that kinda defeats the purpose of FF for me. I have chosen a few less popular picks to try and differentiate myself, some work out, some don't, and thats why we have transfers.
- Don't always do what the majority are doing eg, Digne, Nunez etc, I was so tempted with Nunez to replace Jesus for week 2, but I didn't
- Be patient, no kneejerk reactions, some of my players were not even starting, but they look like they maybe be coming good, I almost transferred them out.
Overall impression, I am going slow and steady and probably using my chips when the majority of managers use their chips, just to keep up.

@FPL TV Hello! thanks for the video, my first fpl season. question: If i tripple captain a player in a team with a double game week, also have the vice captain in the same team, tc player gets injured after first game, does the vice captain step in as captain for the second game?
Hi mate, sorry for the late reply. Sadly the answer is no. Even in a double-gameweek, if your captain plays even just a single minute of one game, your captain will not switch to the vice. The only way your captain switches to vice, is if your captain plays 0 minutes over the 2 fixtures.
The last season as we got an extra FREE HIT chip, you cannot play both sequentially 🙂
Can one make a -4point lead towards a game
After today's Community Shield match, do you consider Haaland is essential? And, what about Núñez?
I wish I didn't feel like I have to have haaland due to his high ownership and good price point.
I don't trust kane either, yes he has scored a lot in pre season but against sub par teams.
At least haalands goal was vs Munich.

As a new player, I’m unsure about chip usage. Are there any recommendations?
Same here. First year playing So new I didn't even realize the Vice Captaincy, and by default my GK was Vice Captain weeks 1 & 2. What is the best "formation" to use for PFL? Or does the formation matter? Currently using a 3-5-3, as my team has very good midfielders - unfortunately Tielemans and Sterling haven't produced thru 3 weeks.
My defense may be my weakness: 2 Liverpool, 2 Aston Villa, and 1 Chelsea defender = all of whom have underperformed to date. Based on prior history, the Liverpool players should improve dramatically, but the other 3 may require replacement.
There aren't any set rules on when to use them but generally you wanna save your TC and BB for double gameweeks. This happens when a teams game is moved due to cup games / covid and means that a team will play twice during the same FPL gameweek - you can get some serious hauls by doing this. Your wildcard should just be used when you feel like your team needs to be changed in more than 4 spots. Free hit is a lot more flexible so no general recommendations on that.
@@billsager5634 Formations don't matter that much, however there are some rly promising defenders in the game rn so you might wanna consider changing to a 4-4-2.
@@linusworgotter8723- Considering the players on my team, I'll have to make a few player transactions before I can play a 4-4-2, such as dropping Tielemans and buying a cheap MF, and upgrading either Mings or Cash with the extra money

Another mistake its when you use Free Hit, you lose your regular Free Transfer, even if you already make it before or if you had 2 FT, the next GW your team it's exactly the same that you finish the GW before and you have only 1 FT

Had 2FT but decided to free hit as well and ended up still with my shyte team the following gw and only one transfer
Wait he didn’t answer the question of captaining a player for a double gameweek, would your captain get double (or triple if you use the chip) the amount of points for both games??
2 games in a week gives you points from both games however there’s always a chance of them being benched

No, if you free hit the -4 will be cancelled. I speak about this in the following mistakes video I made. 👍
When I make transfers I get deducted, when I'm I suppose to make transfers without getting deducted?
You only get 1 free transfer per gameweek. Any additional transfers will deduct 4points from your score. If you don’t use your free transfer however, you can carry this over to the following week and have 2 free transfers available. You cannot carry more than 2 free transfers though.
The other mistake others make is if you use your free hit. This cancels any saves free transfers. A mistake I made

When are your pts added?
Points will add to your total score once the game updates each day - generally 30-60 minutes after the final game of the day.

They are risky picks, 2 players for 1 spot (even worse when jota comes back).
Also dias is 8m and gets more points for goals + cs bonus.
3rd Liverpool player should be Robertson or dias so unless you are doing a team without salah these 2 players shouldn't come into consideration

FPL locked your team 1 hour 30 minutes before match kickoff.
Always remember to save after you change captain. I missed that one time last year and it cost me 14 points.
In other games I play you do not need to click save.

How long do you have to play fpl before you are no longer considered a beginner
About 3-4 months of playing consistently. I started soon before the second half of the 2020/2021 season and I was so confused most of the time but I was very interested in learning it as a football fan. Now I have a pretty good idea of what's going on and I'm trying to improve my game. This guy has some great tips, stick around and you'll eventually figure it out.
This is a personal opinion btw. I'm in no way an expert at fpl but I genuinely enjoy it 😂
