My personal experience with my newly acquired *Glock 21 Gen 5* is totally satisfactory. This model 21 is amazingly accurate, with a great smooth trigger pull superior to prior generations, great ergonomics, and no malfunctions at all. The price is reasonable. I ordered two Taran Tactical extended base +4 magazines to carry 17+1 rounds of 45 ACP 😎 I am pleased!

Lefty as well. Carry it with the Large beavertail backstrap. Never had failures for the slide to lock back on any of the previous generations. My other GEN 5’s have had a couple of instances of this happening. Just remember, we left handers never had to worry about a slide stop being accidentally activated, or deactivated before. After modifying my group ever so slightly, I never had the issue again.

I just got my piece yesterday. I put 10 rounds through and I noticed how little recoil there is. You may have explained why. I have a Glock 19X, and the G21 Gen5 is a so smooth
Absolutely man love the video I had a gen 4 20 and I have the same thoughts it could have been better but I woke up this morning just now finding out about this release I’m going full in to getting the gen 5 20 mos I love the 10mm cartridge it packs a huge punch and some say it’s overkill it’s most definitely a hand cannon or nuke whatever you want to call it but I think it’s a great carry gun but yeah having the optics cut on this gen 5 mos is a big game changer because the gen 4 g20 and the 29/29sf witch is the compact version holding 10 rounds instead of 15+1 no other Glock 10mm in gen 4 other than the g40 long slide had a optics cut and the g40 was mainly marketed towards hunters but I’m more the over excited that Glock had revived the g20 because the gen 4 wasn’t a bad hand gun but like you said in the video it lacks a lot of new age features the main one being the Rmr cut
I have the G20 gen5. It's an amazing gun. I threw a Holosun 407c and have shot 300ish rounds though it without issue (HPs, fmj, hardcast) several different brands. It's extremely controllable and packs a punch 👊

I have a police return Glock 22 that I'll be improving soon mag well ,two new barrels, fulcrum trigger, suppressor sites and maybe a stippling job a grip sleeve my suffice I'm a huge fan of the .40 cal bullet I had a Taurus pt100 .I loved that gun I'm hoping that my Glock can give me that throb again your thoughts on my Glock project plan.great show Long live the republic

Wassup guys…G21 is the only Glock I can hit the side of the barn with…just not sure if I want to go to Gen 5 from Gen 4. Not sure yet but I’m glad you Southpaws like it.
The nDLC barrel finish will wear much faster than the previous finish. You’ll have a bright silver ring on the barrel in no time. It doesn’t really matter but it bothers some people. My Gen 5 17 barrel wear appeared early but it doesn’t get much worse over time.
@@sacrificialscience4405 I have some guns that I buy that aren’t hard use guns that I want to keep nice and I have others that I will run hard with a high volume of rounds. Those are the guns I compete with, shoot often, and have chalk or resin on my hands when training. I get more than my money’s worth out of those guns and don’t give a second thought to wear. Many of my GLOCKs fall into that group.
One thing ive noticed on my gen 5 19 is that the slide coating is waayyyy better than Sig's. I've carried both about equal, and my glock looks brand new, while the sig has chips and ive had to clean off rust.

Great review. I had a Glock 21 gen 1 that I acquired from a trade for a Keltec 380 I had. A friend wanted the 380 for concealed carry. Great trade in my favor! A good friend, DR Middlebrooks did a trigger job on it and it shot sweet. Then I saw a listing for an HK USP 45 on Armslist for sale or trade for a Glock 21. I jumped on that deal! Plus the HK came with 6 mags and factory plastic box. That was about 10 years ago and still shoot the HK regularly. I only paid 200 for the Keltec. Still tickled and love sharing that story.

I think it came out in January. They have been available for sale since then but kind of hard to find sometimes. I asked the Glock representative at the PSA Gathering about the gen 5 30. They said they don’t know when that will be available. Was hoping for a more definitive answer.
I’ve thought about it, but I’m so used to using my trigger finger, I don’t really want to have to remember which is which if I need to do a mag change.
I’m a lefty as well…. I just got My 21 gen5 and put a holosun 509t in it and the suppressor sight are on the way right now…. It’s going to be so nice to carry the curvy chick and use her like a normal human being…even if it’s is wrong handed….lol
I’m not sure whether or not it’s supported. The grip is the supposed to be the same size as the gen 3 SF models according to what I’ve read. It feels slimmer in my hand than the gen 4 did with the smallest back strap.

I enjoyed your review, and wanted to tell you that yes, you did forget to mention some things. 1- the gen 5 G21 also has a bigger mag release for better ease of use. 2- also it has a larger slide release for better ease of use too. I think you covered the rest. I have a question though for you. while i do know some things about the gen 5 glocks i havent had the chance to use any. I wanted to know if you might know? How the new Gen 5 21 recoil and comfort of use, compares to the new gen 5 G20 10mm? The gen 4 21 is very snappy and a bit un tame. The gen 4 21 is smooth and comfortable with a very mild recoil. almost not even enough to mention. What is your feeling?

@@rockybalboa2526 sorry about that. I haven’t had the chance to shoot the 20 yet. I would guess the gen 5 would be an improvement over Gen. 4 from my experience with the 21. The gen 5 9 mm are a welcome improvement as well. I’ve never messed with 10mm. As a reloader, I can make my 45acp reloads fairly close to what a 10mm is doing. Not exactly, but close enough for me. Lol

I have carried my G21 Gen 4 for the past ~7years as my duty gun. I bit the bullet and purchased a Gen 5, now I'm all giddy because I'm going to put an optic on it. I kind of want an enclosed one, but I will try and test out the 507c as a motor cop with my firearm exposed 40+ hours a week (usually 50-60 hours lol).
That will definitely get it dirty. Lol. The 509T is supposed to be a really good optic also. I’ve yet to try one though. But might be worth looking into for an enclosed model.
@@sacrificialscience4405 I was thinking about it, but I don't like how high they sit...I might try the Trijicon RCR when it comes out. My gun does get filthy, and I basically have to clean it every 2 weeks. No idea how much grit and grime got into/onto it after becoming a motor lol.

What type of sights did you put on with the optic? I just picked this pistol up and will be putting the 507c on as well. I want sights that are visible low in the red dot window without getting in the way of the dot.

Your issue with the mags could be you riding the slide lock. With the ambi slide locks, that’s an issue some have. It’s an issue with students that run the 43x.
Appears Glock is playing with different finishes on Gen 5 . I went to Lypseys and certain models have gas nitride finish and 21 was one and 26 MOS another while most still have NDLC.
I’ve heard that’s an issue, but haven’t had an issue with any of my MOS Glocks. Been running them since they’ve came to market. Thanks for the info though.

@@wjjohns04able That info you were given is not accurate. SF stands for Short Frame, which reduces the length of the grip from front to rear and has nothing to do with the thickness of the slide or grip. The only big bore Glocks that have slimmer slides are the 41 and the 30S.
I may have to retire my gen 4 and get a 5, i hate the finger grooves with a passion. I don't feel comfortable having the frame altered because to me, it would potentially take away structural integrity.

I bought a Gen 4 21 and it bounces empties off my face, Glock says it doesn't. Forums say shoot a bunch of ammo and it will quit doing that. Nope. Too old for that. I put the Crimson Trace laser on it which isn't specked to fit. It fits fine, My gun buying days are over. It will serve but Glock's motto is a bit tarnished to me.
Im trying to decide between the G21 Gen 5 or Gen 4. I watched a review by Mr. Guns and gear and his malfunctioned several times. This kind of bothers me about the Gen 5.
I’ve been trying to decide on a 21 gen 5 or some other 45 acp. I finally decided to go with the 21 gen 5 after finding out the gen 5 comes with an upgraded marksmen barrel and the recoil assembly is stainless steel on the gen 5 verses plastic on the previous models. I put one on lay a way yesterday!
How in tf did they miss the mark on _NOT_ making 14 round capacity? I've seen even all metal guns have 14 rounds, the late remington had a 1911 double stack with flush 15 round capacity... cmon glock.
Yeah soon as the elite 4.5 45 comes out it will have a 14-round and then when the threaded barrel or 5.25 comes out then it will have a 16-round plus-one capacity.
We’ll we just might see the end of the California “roster of approved firearms “ soon. Maybe then we can buy other Glocks beside the Gen 3’s. There’s a rumor going around that Glock is going to stop production of Gen 3’s soon. I hope the roster goes away before that happens. I can’t imagine not being able to buy any Glocks at all. I agree .By the time people get done adding their personal touch to their handguns they weigh as much as a rifle. I don't understand why. If the purpose is to carry either out of waistband or in the waistband the add weight will slow your draw and can induce malfunction in a high stress situation. Basically the crap you got on a gun the more crap could go wrong.

Not locking back on last round is because spring for the magazine need to be reset. Clean your magazine, or replace the spring.

I was so pumped for the gen 5. Pretty much every small issue I had with the gen 4 was added to the gen 5.

Gen 4 and 5 Glock 21s have SF frames standard without any of the back straps attached.

Glock 21 never came in a Gen 1. The first G21 appeared as a Gen 2. FYI

Place your open hand behind what you’re displaying and the auto focus will adjust too it.
What cowitness iron sights are you using? I have not found iron backup cowitness sights for the G21 gen5.
They are made by ameriglo. They are the tall sights. They make 3 different heights. Sights for any full size Glock will work on the gen 5.

Did you take it apart to show the recoil spring and... then not show the recoil spring?
I made a comparison video and showed the difference in the gen 4 vs gen 5. Got the recoil spring on that one.
Is the Barrel Breach fully supported ? Is the Grip on the Gen 5 thinner than on the Gen 4 Model ?

I have no idea. I’d guess that it would have to be specific for the gen 5, but you might want to contact Gun Crafters on that.

Yes I do. Bought a Vedder for my gen 4. Had to trim it a little bit for the red dot, but it works with the light also. Had a TLR1 HL on my gen 4.

My gen 5 shoots better than my gen 4 did. My gen 4 even had an upgraded recoil spring and stainless guide rod.

I use a Vedder. It’s a pretty decent holster for the money. It’s OWB. Pretty much just lives in the bedroom though.

What kind of holster are you using with the 21 ?
It’s a vedder holster. It was for my gen 4 but fits my 5 perfectly
can you do the glock20 gen4 and 5 ones? I was having feeding issues with my g20 g4 so am hoping the new g20 g5 is better thanks.
I don’t have the 10mm models. Have thought about them, but I load my 45 pretty close to 10mm territory so haven’t really seen the need.

I have carried my G21 Gen 4 for the past ~7years as my duty gun. I bit the bullet and purchased a Gen 5, now I'm all giddy because I'm going to put an optic on it. I kind of want an enclosed one, but I will try and test out the 507c as a motor cop with my firearm exposed 40+ hours a week (usually 50-60 hours lol).
That will definitely get it dirty. Lol. The 509T is supposed to be a really good optic also. I’ve yet to try one though. But might be worth looking into for an enclosed model.
@@sacrificialscience4405 I was thinking about it, but I don't like how high they sit...I might try the Trijicon RCR when it comes out. My gun does get filthy, and I basically have to clean it every 2 weeks. No idea how much grit and grime got into/onto it after becoming a motor lol.
@@Silidons91 I’d be curious as well how much would get in the optic. Hopefully not enough to hinder your sight picture. That’s a lot of exposure being on a bike all day. Lol

That’s what I heard as well. It does seem slimmer than the Gen 4 did.
What type of sights did you put on with the optic? I just picked this pistol up and will be putting the 507c on as well. I want sights that are visible low in the red dot window without getting in the way of the dot.

@@kperry396 they co witness at the bottom of the optic, so when you want the dot only, you just need to tilt your head back a little

I bought those from a local guy. They’re just suppressor height. Not night sights

Hey brother with the upgrades what kind of holster do you have ?
I use a Vedder holster made for the Surefire x300. Had to trim the top a little to fit the red dot, but works pretty good now.

That’s the holster. The Phlster Floodlight works on it as well if you have the proper light on it. Which light do you have?

Your issue with the mags could be you riding the slide lock. With the ambi slide locks, that’s an issue some have. It’s an issue with students that run the 43x.
I don’t have that issue with my 19 gen 5. The 43x doesn’t have an ambi slide catch. My old Glock 21 mags are pretty well used.

Appears Glock is playing with different finishes on Gen 5 . I went to Lypseys and certain models have gas nitride finish and 21 was one and 26 MOS another while most still have NDLC.
That’s odd that they do that. Makes it difficult to order one online and know which finish your getting.
PS, use a plate from an aftermarket company on the mos.
I’ve heard that’s an issue, but haven’t had an issue with any of my MOS Glocks. Been running them since they’ve came to market. Thanks for the info though.
Is it the same slide thickness as the Gen. 4 or did they finally make it slimmer??
It is about the same size dimensionally. Feels better in the hand due to the finger grooves being gone though.

@@wjjohns04able That info you were given is not accurate. SF stands for Short Frame, which reduces the length of the grip from front to rear and has nothing to do with the thickness of the slide or grip. The only big bore Glocks that have slimmer slides are the 41 and the 30S.
I may have to retire my gen 4 and get a 5, i hate the finger grooves with a passion. I don't feel comfortable having the frame altered because to me, it would potentially take away structural integrity.
The gen 5 is better in every aspect. I sold my gen 4 and don’t regret it at all
Are those 15 rd magazines interchangeable with the Glock 30S?
The Glock 21 mags are 13 round mags. But they also work in the Glock 30
@@sacrificialscience4405 I found a magazine online for the G21 gen5 that holds the 15rds in a neighboring state but before I order it I’m just trying to make sure it’ll be compatible with my G30S before taking a drive there.
@@emilianozapataa4184 any mag that fits a 21 will fit in a 30. I’d be cautious with off brand mags. I have never had good luck with them

@@sacrificialscience4405 Yes, I'm using Sellier Bellot ball ammo. I'm going to attempt to use a different brand and a gen 4 mag. I'll let you know what happens. Disappointed with the gen 5, dude.

Slow for Competition shooting, yes for sure. For self defense, try to run from that..
I bought a Gen 4 21 and it bounces empties off my face, Glock says it doesn't. Forums say shoot a bunch of ammo and it will quit doing that. Nope. Too old for that. I put the Crimson Trace laser on it which isn't specked to fit. It fits fine, My gun buying days are over. It will serve but Glock's motto is a bit tarnished to me.

Im trying to decide between the G21 Gen 5 or Gen 4. I watched a review by Mr. Guns and gear and his malfunctioned several times. This kind of bothers me about the Gen 5.
I've owned both get the gen 5 , I've never had a problem with my gen5 21 I've put about 300 rounds though it most of them jhp
I’ve been trying to decide on a 21 gen 5 or some other 45 acp.
I finally decided to go with the 21 gen 5 after finding out the gen 5 comes with an upgraded marksmen barrel and the recoil assembly is stainless steel on the gen 5 verses plastic on the previous models.
I put one on lay a way yesterday!
How in tf did they miss the mark on _NOT_ making 14 round capacity?
I've seen even all metal guns have 14 rounds, the late remington had a 1911 double stack with flush 15 round capacity... cmon glock.
Glock could make higher capacity mags if they went all metal mags. I just don’t see them ever doing that

Yeah soon as the elite 4.5 45 comes out it will have a 14-round and then when the threaded barrel or 5.25 comes out then it will have a 16-round plus-one capacity.

There’s a rumor going around that Glock is going to stop production of Gen 3’s soon. I hope the roster goes away before that happens. I can’t imagine not being able to buy any Glocks at all. The only reason Glock still produces Gen 3s is because of CA's roster. It's the Gen 4 being dropped.
Just get a officer to buy u one I got a gen 5 glock 21 mos bc my brother is an officer in oakland and he sold it to me after he bought it for me 😂alot of officers are willing to or if u have military family as well

accuracy ain’t betteron the gen 5 it’s personal preference. All glock gens have the same accuracy.Pretty much all guns do lol.
The lockup on my Gen 5 vs Gen 4 is better on the 5. The end of the barrel has less movement at the muzzle. Inherently making it a little more accurate

I agree .By the time people get done adding their personal touch to their handguns they weigh as much as a rifle. I don't understand why. If the purpose is to carry either out of waistband or in the waistband the add weight will slow your draw and can induce malfunction in a high stress situation. Basically the crap you got on a gun the more crap could go wrong.

@@mr.smiley4569 I put the Holosun 507c, Holosun PID light and Ameriglo tall suppressor height sights. Also trimmed my Vedder OWB holster for my 21 gen 4 for the optic on my gen 5. Hope you like yours as much as I do mine! Solid choice for a 45
@@jeremiahbass4418 my 21 never gets carried. I usually carry a Glock 43 or a snub nosed revolver. Nothing wrong with having guns decked out to play and practice with.
