Loose Leash Walking: • How to teach a dog to ...
I will be giving my point of view on the methods being used, as well as giving the animal(s) in this video a voice. Don't blindly follow what someone says, even if they are a "professional", use your own critical thinking skills and question the tools, the method, and the trainers.
I am using all footage under the Fair Use Act for criticism and educational purposes, and do not wish for anyone to send hateful messages to the original poster. I hope to spread awareness about this type of unnecessary and dangerous practice that is so prevalent in the dog training world and horsey world, and to give these animals a better life. Let me know what you think of it, and what you would like to see next time! Until then, practice Patience, Peace, and Pawsitivity! :3

Basically everything you've covered is why I do not like these English sports like hunting/hunter pace etc. Horses tend to have tight nosebands and flash nosebands, strong bits where the rider hangs onto for balance, not to mention horses wanting to be with the rest of the herd but a more nervous rider is holding them back creating frustration in the horse. I know I wouldn't do it because I don't like going fast and my horse gets easily frustrated if he feels like he's being left behind (I get off when that happens and make sure the other riders wait or come back. But the people I have ridden with were usually good and made sure everyone was comfortable before doing faster gaits). But the reason why horses don't like being left behind is because they are a herd animal, they're just being a horse.
A lot of issues stems from people not understanding horses natural behaviors. They're not naughty for the sake of being naughty, they are trying to communicate! I'm sure the exact same thing can be said about dogs, or any animal really. We assign human concepts onto animals far too much.

That first jump was a good size - 3'6" perhaps. I wonder how big the rider is? I never rode with nosebands - no point. Is the rider afraid? Why is she battling her horse? I feel fortunate to have grown up riding horses in Australia with chill, relaxed people. Is this the same girl whose horse fell on her in a ditch?

Yes I believe this is the same girl, which explains why she's so hard on her horse 🐴

There were bloodhounds at this meet, they just weren't with this group of riders. You have your riders that ride alongside the bloodhounds, these are the hunt masters and hunt staff. Hunt masters and hunt staff will wear their club's coat colour (typically red). You then have your riders who just tag along behind as to not get in the way of the hounds, these will typically wear neutral coat colours like black, navy or tweed. Also, I don't think any of these horse's tails were shaved, just tied up in a way that looks as such. I think it's to prevent their tails from getting caught but I could be wrong.
I personally despise drag hunts (fox hunts but, allegedly, without the fox), since they're often used as cover ups for illegal fox hunting. Even an 'ethical' hunting group I found showed cruelty to their bloodhounds - there's a video of Southdown Bloodhounds calling their dogs off some deer, which is great and all, but before all that, the whipper in whacked one of the dogs with his whip so hard that you can hear it make contact. The dog yelped, too.
