    I am using all footage under the Fair Use Act for criticism and educational purposes, and do not wish for anyone to send hateful messages to the original poster. Thanks for commenting on Tara. I am a non-equestrian and know very little about horses, but I can see that the rider is holding Bella's head too tight. Anyway, I worry for Bella and am sad for Farouk. I started watching Tara and Farouk when she first got him. What a lovely horse with such a sweet disposition.

    It's very painful to watch but not as much pain as this poor mare is suffering.
    There are some points I'd like to make and I need to vent.
    Yes the bit is much too high but also she has the throat latch far too tight. There have been some videos where Bella cannot flex her head and neck as she's being strangled. I was taught halfway down the cheek bone and a four inch gap between.
    She trots Bella at ridiculous speeds on the roads and downhill. She also canters/gallops on hard surfaces like tracks. She could get Navicular Disease from the jarring and damaged tendons or joints. At five she is still a baby and not finished growing.
    If you're right about the removal of her whiskers, this is downright cruel. We never removed whiskers. It deprives the poor horse of one of its main senses.
    Thank you for highlighting this again, it's a very fair video of an inconsiderate and uncaring rider.

The endurance ride was a pleasure ride for 20 Kilometers, so imagine that with the awful mask on her face , poor Bella 3. Bella is 5 yrs old now, so yeah she is young and as far as I know you should kneeling forward at the jump and Tara is so heavy for Bella and some people did comment on that video. Poor Bella, she can never get a break from Tara yanking on the bit. Even when they jump, (which you are supposed to release). In my opinion, Tara should not be jumping at all. She needs to go back to basics to improve her seat and quiet her hands. Tara shouldn’t be jumping Bella either, she clearly needs more flatwork & groundwork done.

    Tara drives me nuts! I have posted several times on her videos that she is constantly pulling back on the reins, balancing on them, and seems afraid to ever have a loose rein (or even slightly loose). That is because she would fall off! That is her balance! And yes, sack of potatoes. She's been told by viewers numerous times that she is too heavy for that horse. She doesn't seem to care about the horse - just her fun when she's riding the horse. And that "trainer" needs to go! She's not helping at all, and doesn't tell Tara what she's doing wrong. Tara also leans forward before a jump, and then lift her hands up high as the horse jumps. Is that supposed to "help" the horse jump? I feel so bad for this horse, and am thrilled that you honestly reviewed this video. Tara really needs a wake-up call. This horse will not remain sound past the age of ten with Tara riding her this way.The horse has her ears back, and her eyes show how uncomfortable she is, as well as her pinched nostrils. One of these days, that horse is going to throw her, and then, of course, it will be the horse's fault!

    • @Vakrai
      @Vakrai Před 27 dny +14

      I bet if the trainer actually critisized her riding - meaning, actually teaching her and telling what she does wrong - Tara would just call her a bully and find another trainer, who would only keep on saying "good", "well done" and feeding Tara's ego. Because god forbid someone points out something about her equitation

      I feel sorry for Bella, she is such a lovely and smart mare. What mortifies me the most - is that there is little to none progress made over the last few years, comparing the videos.
      You have to be blind and delusional not to see how uncomfortable Bella is under the saddle, he's always hollowed out, unbalanced and erratic, just like her rider. There's zero team work happening, and 100% blame on Bella for being "under the weather", "stubborn", "opinionated", "spicy", you name it.
      Tara's channel is an echo chamber of people who don't understand horses' body language, and look into each others mouths for validation, to be told they're right. The chronic inability to take critisizm is dowright impressive. The drama that happened between Tara and Rick Gore few years ago was the prime example.

    @BismarcksOtto Před 26 dny +12

    I saw your reaction vid and for the first time in months took a look ot Tara's channel and what do you know - new video uploaded today: new school, new instructor. Unfortunately a ton of cuts (the unedited version would be elucidating as heck!) But we see her attempft to try and coach Tara through the process of releasing the tension in the horse which of course does not work at all, because Tara herself gets so tense and terrified that Bella picks up on it and takes it as a reinforcement that she is correct in being spooked by the poles and the ground because Tara's body is broadcasting lous and clear that yes, they are indeed currently in mortal danger... What is also quite clear is that the instructor must at some prior point have told Tara to ease up on the bloody tight reins to get the horse to relax and we see, clear as day, that Tara is absolutely unable to excert ANY sort of control over Bella when she isn't pulling on the reins: she is a terrified passenger LITERALLY just along for the ride with no legs, no seat, no weight aids, no balance. No ability to so much as slow her own frantic posting-, let alone sit a damn trot either. It is an absolute shambles. The usual frantic voice commands are reliably ignored by poor Bella who, for once in her life, gets an inch more rein for a moment here or there, but damningly keeps her head EXACTLY where it always is (and how should she know any different, because galaxy-brain Tara figured out that instead of guiding your horse to NATURALLY/HONESTLY stretch forward-downward through legs, seat and hands, she can teach her animals to UNNATURALLY/FAKE lower their heads in a sham display of relaxation without engaging the back muscles to carry the weight of the rider, which is the damn point of that excercise, simply by yelling "HEAD DOWN!"), anticipating the next yank on the bit.
    I'd bet dollars to donuts that we will NOT see Tara return to that trainer after that display of poor horsemanship on her part, even though OF COURSE the entire performance gets reliably blamed on "Bella being Bella" and misbehaving again...
    Very noticable in that-, as well as this video you comment on here (to me as someone who has not "seen" Bella in several months) is the beginning of both a sway-back and a ewe lamb-neck. In a FIVE YEAR OLD who only gets ridden a couple of hourse each week, I assume. It's a bloody disgrace - at this rate, Bella won't make it to 8 before she's done for.
    Lastly: what in the fresh heck compels Tara to believe she has ANY business trying to jump Bella in the first place - does she have a death wish for the both of them? NO balance, NO ability to direct or hold the horse and - I am very sorry to say - WAY too much weight to consider jumping when neither her nor the horse are (or ever will get at the level/frequency of training she can offer Bella herself) anywhere near the physical shape/muscle tone required to make that a healthy endeavor for Bella's back. This is getting very close to external intervention territory.

    I don't like being mean in any way but I do want to be honest... I just think Tara is a little too big and unfit to ride Bella.. Also you're right about Bella not being ready both physically and mentally... Tara just seems to be doing too much (jumping and endurance).
    Sometimes we need to just slow down and allow horses to enjoy spending time with us whether that's on the ground or on their back. Bella is pretty young too isn't she? She needs some time to just be a horse, learn to relax.. Maybe Tara could get into positive reinforcement training and do some liberty with her (I think that would be fantastic for Bella).
    Bella definitely needs to go back to the basics, or even groundwork... Work on getting her head down and relaxed, ride on a loose rein etc (I'd also remove the bit).

      Agreed. Bella is 5, and she was started at 3 if I remember correctly. My friend who used to be a riding instructor, was always impressed with Tara's riding, and not in a good way. If she could, she'd make Tara ride with no reins for a while, and no stirrups too. It's a problematic concoction: Bella is way too young and underfit for her age, to be able to carry Tara comfortably, and Tara has no balance of her own, resulting in both the rider and the horse having a miserable time

    I'll be blunt. That rider is not sufficiently secure in the saddle to be jumping at all. The horse is tense - hollowed back, resulting in the high head carriage. I don't think this even has anything to do with the weight of the rider, just the rider's beginner level skills. At the very least, she should use a neck strap, instead of balancing on the reins. Better yet, put both on a lunge line, take away stirrups and reins. That rider needs to develop a seat, first and foremost.

    I found a video from a few weeks ago where Bella was out riding in torrential rain, and at the end you can see that her whiskers weren't trimmed. Her whiskers aren't that easy to see, so it could just be that the lighting and camera quality in this video made it look like they weren't there.
    Seems like Tara learned absolutely nothing from Farouk's great escape though, since in the same video, she takes the bridle off without putting the headcollar around her neck first whilst saying "Can we take the bridle off without you running off?" Just asking for disaster 🙄

    Great video and review as always. Poor Bella needs to be able to relax at the walk let alone jumping. She is so unbalanced all down to Tara’s lack of riding skill. This poor horse has endured so much whilst being ridden by Tara, it’s just cruel. The so called instructor in this video should be ashamed of herself not picking Tara up on her numerous faults. What kind of instructor doesn’t tell her pupil what she is doing wrong? Tara is far too heavy for Bella, and I fear how she will be in a few years time being ridden this way. The comments on her channel are mostly from people who know nothing about horses but for those that do, well we are all barred.

      Even if Tara was 50 pounds lighter she wouldn't be right for this horse. Instructors used to take away stirrups (sometimes whole saddle) and reins and have rider hold arms out to the side to get an independent seat. It was on a lunge line.
      When I learned to jump at 12, I was blessed to have an old Irishman teacher me. Took away reins and stirrups and send me down a jump lane lol.

    Andalusian’s are not easy horses to sit, they have a choppy trot and I think this leads to additional unbalanced too, the head carriage too is very Andalusian I think she’s the wrong horse for Tara. More groundwork in the school, walking poles, then trotting poles, not a canter to a jump, a fitter rider with lighter hands. It’s a very old fashioned way of teaching, make it do what you want. The weather has been wet and windy, and also the last couple of weeks very hot.

    This is so awful! This rider isn't too big for this mare but she doesn't have the leg or core strength to ride any horse. She relies on her hands for balance and as a dressage rider it makes me want to throw up. If you don't understand the concept of leg and seat into hands then you shouldn't ride. She's a gorgeous horse with huge potential and she's being ruined by this "rider".

      I'd say the total hight/weight would not be an issue in a more competent rider who has the muscle tone/strength/balance to properly sit and work her, who would bew able to ride her in a correct frame and build the necessary muscles in the horse to carry that weight. None of that this rider is able to provide.
