      @VintageSG Před 6 lety +4

      Pedestrians are idiots. Every. Single. One. Of. Them.
      Treat them like such, and you don't run them over. Simple.
      Filtering is legal and can be safe. It ticks some drivers off the way some riders filter, some drivers respond very badly even if the filtering is done perfectly safely and legally. Some riders are mobile cocksockets plated in purest bellendium.
      In this instance, the rider was filtering legally, but was still at fault. Pedestrians don't think.
      There was a pavement.
      Pavement = pedestrians = pedestrians crossing without looking.
      The pedestrian was a tall chap. Taller than most cars. Easily visible to the rider if they'd bothered scanning for pedestrians.
      The rider was at fault here, not for filtering, but for not scanning. Speed OK, road positioning OK, observation?. Yeah. That part sucked. Sucked hard, swallowed and asked for more. If they'd scanned, they'd have seen the pedestrian from two or three cars back and could have slowed, stopped, beeped ( not recommended as it can cause road rage in some car drivers, but still... )
      The rider was at fault. The pedestrian was an idiot, the rider could have and should have avoided the collision. It's generally considered bad form to run into people, even if they are self absorbed twazzocks who refuse to apply the Green Cross Code.
      Bring back The Tufty Club!

    To all cammers, just a tip. If you are cut up or see a driver of a vehicle texting/phoning with company information on it send it to the owners email. Some companies are very concerned when their employees show them in a bad light.

    • @Cliffjumper24
      @Cliffjumper24 Před 6 lety +5

      I'd like to see insurers asking for such sightings too.
      Car/vehicle insurance is high enough as it is..... they should be able to financially penalise people who phone/text drive because they bear a greater proportion of risk to all road users....
      ....and it's interesting how being hit in the pocket is a good incentive to not break the law (eg; slowing down for speed cameras).

    •  Před 6 lety

      That sort of thing is coming. The number of accidents has actually been increasing due to phone use. According to one insurance company looking at a two-city metro area in the Netherlands (Arnhem and Nijmegen) the number of accidents nearly doubled there in two years.
      Ussually minor fender-benders between cars, fortunately. But distracted drivers who are either using their phone, calling hands-free or fidgeting with their navigation, are a danger indeed.

    First video is the motor cyclist fault. He is riding on the wrong side of the road, and isn't performing any sort of manoeuvre. It's also not possible to say he was 'filtering lanes' given the fact that the road is a single carriageway. The pedestrian has seen stationary traffic when he had checked right and has reasonable assumed that nothing more could be coming from the right side. This biker could easily have a section 3 RTA (careless driving) or a S2 RTA (dangerous driving) libelled against him.

    • @cjeam9199
      @cjeam9199 Před 6 lety +4

      Blah b Again, not the case. A pedestrian should look both ways and be aware of the possibility of filtering traffic, filtering traffic should be aware of pedestrians, around vehicles which obstruct visibility this becomes even more important. The Netherlands might have slightly different laws surrounding filtering, or the biker might have been going too fast. The fact that the biker stops so quickly demonstrates that they were going at a reasonable speed.

    • @cjeam9199
      @cjeam9199 Před 6 lety

      Blah b Apart from Rule 7 (especially part E) and _arguably_ Rule 12 (is concerning only bicycles and buses) which mention filtering or contra-travelling traffic. Traffic does filter, you should be aware of it, especially when crossing near large vehicles that obstruct your view and other user’s view of you.

    • @uktokers
      @uktokers Před 6 lety +6

      The motorcyclist was legally filtering (there is no law preventing any vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road so long as there isn't a solid white line).

      If your working with multiple layers of audio and video you may overlap audio tracks. It's also possible to copy audio tracks and paste them in the wrong places. I've done it before - mostly overlapped in error, but it's easy enough to fix. If the video editor had no audio for the clip then I understand why they've done what they've done. But from a viewers perspective it looked like an error. Either way it doesn't matter, it's only a CZcams video and I enjoyed the video regardless.

      +Dashcam Lancs: *The lane/hard shoulder should have been closed due to a broken down vehicle. Common sense really.*
      To be fair, we don't know how long before that vehicle broke down.... it could have only just happened,.
      Of course, as PhantomScottZ says, they're a bad idea.
      My personal opinion is that they're just a 'cheap' alternative to building an extra lane on each side of the road.
      I also think that the reason why dashcam/cyclecams are so important because we have an increase population, and the resultant increase in traffic..... but not the corresponding increase in road infrastructure to go with it.
      As a result, it has bred impatience where people aren't willing to wait and use caution.... they're just 'going for it' because they'r thinking "If I don't go NOW, I'll never get out!"
      We saw examples in this video....
      The motorbike at the start filtering in the oncoming lane,
      The car going around the van at 1:21,
      The driver at 2:00 not looking both ways before pulling out of a junction that would only result in him waiting in traffic anyway.
      The tailgater at 4:30 who just HAD to get past.
      The bus pulling out at 5:09
      The bus pulling out at 5:37
      The car at 6:24 using the wrong side of the road (and island) to cut the traffic.
      The car jumping the red light at 6:40
      The van at 7:48 undertaking and cutting in front (removing the stopping distance safety margin).
      The car overtaking at 8:03 despite the dashcam car slowing (and probably indicating right, but we can't har it).
      The car overtaking and left hooking at 8:22
      The coach pulling out at 8:56
      The car pulling out at 9:12
      The car undertaking at 9:29
      The car overtaking into oncoming traffic 9:40
      *10 cars* running the red light (and people complain about cyclists!) like sheep.
      The list above shows that 'impatience' is the biggest danger out on the road.... because it's the main content for this video compilation.

    That group mentality in the last clip should be shown to a psychology class! 10 people all ignored the red light because somebody else did. That's actually fucking incredible! I can't remember the proper phrase for it, but there's a specific term for when people do that, but that was kind of amazing how people will do that just to follow the herd, even though the light was blatantly red for them!

      The idea of filtering is to increase rider safety, I’ve never been rear ended by a 2 tonne vehicle because I filter. If all bikes in London didn’t filter the traffic would be around 60% worse, that’s an old estimate so now would probably be a higher %

    Back in the 1990s when I was biking my kids to playgroup, not in a million years would I go on the road! I cycled on the pavement, or our green wheel (a series of cycle roads through our country side). I am a bike and I didn’t want to die! Cars are two ton bombs who don’t stop for bikes. Therefore I am still alive and so are my children!
