Paul, you dropped a gem there about not selling time upfront. Diagnostic pricing is one of the hardest things to explain to a customer, especially as an independent mobile technician. I wish I could get folks to understand that $100 spent on honest and accurate diagnostics can save you THOUSANDS of $$, and just as many tears. It's like they say: "You pay me for what I know, not what I do."
Great stuff as always my man! Blessings and much love to you

Fixing the issue then becomes less exciting, at least for me. Just my 2-cents.

With all the new technology in automobiles today, you simply can't stop learning and I make it my duty to learn new things all the time. IMO You,Eric O,PHAD,ETCG and Advanced level diagnostics are the ones I've learned so much from. Paul I consider you to be the Bob Ross of auto repair and diagnostics, especially when it comes to all the electronics and computer components found in autos today. Do you have an engineering degree? If so you could be the one to properly engineer and design autos. Caleb you seem to be an ace at camera/video work, are you a cinematographer? Caleb, your feelings about being a father must do you proud. I regret not being a father and now am I realizing it. Anyway guys have a gr8 God blessed day😄🙏👍💯.

Thanks @ScannerDanner for what you do. The fact that you get to work with your son is priceless. My Dad was a lifelong mechanic, but it wasn't until he passed 11 years ago that I really got into working on cars, (out of necessity initially, if I'm honest). After hundreds of hours trying to learn and hundreds of mistakes made, I can now say that nothing, (workwise), gives me greater pleasure than properly diagnosing/fixing a vehicle problem. That no start (crank or no crank) scenario, in the middle of nowhere, without many tools, is my favorite problem. Every one of us will encounter that at some point, and you get to be a team hero if you can sort it out without calling for a tow. It calls to mind what tools are worth carrying in the trunk. Test light, a few wrenches, screwdriver, perhaps a cheap multimeter?

Unless it's the brake light bulb gone out on a 2019 Tacoma out in the woods. Casey LaDelle dragged one out of the Oregon mountains, he even had a code reader which showed a brake switch open code. Owner thought it was his "smart" key, but back at home, spare didn't work, so off to dropoff at the Toyota dealership where the guy worked. Next morning, the mechanic changed the bulb, fired right up. Nice, crappy, and dangerous for a truck sold to go out in the woods design. Hard to get wiring diagrams when you have to hike a mile up the mountain, just to get a call out for a tow.

I've always loved how Excited you get about the Simplest Problem No matter how big or small. Passion! You remind me of Me when I figure something out . Your Videos Polarize me . One of the reasons I watch and always will! It helps keep my mind fresh since I have gone into the Transit Industry. Keep up the good work.

Yeah... You did it like it's real in the field. As serious technicians, we often go into the field and then we get clouded by either not having a diagnostic approach, or by being overwhelmed by what first should be our diagnostic approach. The video shows what can happen in the field in real time and it better preps other upcoming Automotive Repair Artists Lol but for real! Two thumbs up!
