The only thing atomoxetine has really done for me is decreased my appetite, which has been great honestly because it's allowed me to change my diet and get back in the gym. That raises my self esteem and makes me happier in general. What it hasn't done for me, is helped me focus or increase motivation, or made it easier to do things i need to do that aren't interesting to me. I really hope i can try stimulants soon. Atomoxetine definitely doesn't raise dopamine in my experience. My mood is a bit more stable though.

Brother. You just said it's doesn't work to motivate you or improve your mood in the same paragraph you said you where happier, more mood stable, and motivated back to the gym.
I think maybe you should ask those around you if they notice a difference. Self reporting/self recognition is hard for these behaviors. Just reading what you wrote though it sounds like it's doing stuff, maybe not some magic life is perfect overnight pill but you described some pretty big improvements while writing it off as not working my friend.

@@chublez yeah true, i'm actually looking at going back on it as well as my dexamphetamine. Dex gives me the focus i was looking for, but atomoxetine was better for binge eating and the 24 hour symptom control. That's the main thing i liked it for because dexamphetamine is better but it wears off at night. Would be good if Dr Kidd made a video on combination therapy

    Hi Dr Kidd,
I have a very important question: Have you ever seen Straterra cause dry skin or any kind of skin issues in patients? (even if mild). I have been prescribed this med and desperately need to take something as I struggling BUT a while ago I was on Lamotrigine and it gave me dry skin all over my face and some contact dermatitis which was very upsetting for me. I am now terrified to try straterra in case it ruins my face again.

I'm looking into this because I'm unable by law to take stimulants because of the fact I've smoked green. So this looks like a promising alternative! However, about 12 years ago I tried Pristiq which gave me the worst acne breakouts I'd ever had (mind you I was 17/18 back then so maybe it was hormones too.

So I'm continuing along my path to sobriety. It makes the most sense.
I am being prescribed something in the interim tho . And my psych says if I do 90 days and my toxicology comes back good then we're a go for stimulants.
All I'm saying is I feel like I'm in the same boat as you but it's not forever. It's for like 3 months.
And the way I see it the non stimulant meds are gonna affect your heart one way or another so it's worth becoming healthier anyway .
Bummed me out for like a day . And I'm gonna try probabaly in a year to get a good score on my piss test.

The reason you aren't feeling anything is that the starting dose is low (by design). As you raise the dose gradually over a period of four weeks, it will at some point start to "work". Strattera actually reaches its maximum plasma concentration in your blood after 1-2 hours, so it is able to be effective immediately -- once you reach an effective dose for your brain.
