    Been taking 150mg of Bupropion in the morning with 7.5mg of Dextroamphetamine, and redosing another 7.5mg twice at 4 hour intervals. So 7:00, 11:00, 15:00.
    I finally feel normal after years of trying everything under the sun. The bupropion is rather recent but I've noticed that it solved my issue where on a stimulant alone I would feel focus but no motivation. I could take a stimulant and still just lay around in bed all day. I would focus and stay on task, but would still avoid things I knew I should do but was afraid to start. Now I actually feel a desire and drive to get my work done. I also think its because of the antidepressant affects. My mood is significantly improved as well.
    From a diagnostic standpoint, I have ADHD-pi and Autism so perhaps its something about my specific neurochemistry that makes this combination effective.

    I'm not sure about this drug. Everytime I go on it, after weeks/month I start to become tired when taking it, and kinda confused, less "mindy". Difficult to explain. This drug just seriously calms me down in contrast to ritalin. This leads to me going off for a couple of days and when I get kinda anxious/restless, I just take it one day to calm down... weird drug. I take 150XR. May it have to do with its anticholinergic properties?

    okay. Thanks. That was helpful. Because I had a 10+ year spell of dysthymia caused by amongst other things, stress of fighting with my undiagnosed ADHD, I started with Wellbutrin. It worked miracles and I have been reluctant to give it up. Here in the UK they absolutely do not want to prescribe it. I bitterly suspect it has to do with stroke risk and the high alcohol consumption on the island. Probably it's just that it doesn't work for many people that well, and I've been on 300mgs for over 20 years, need to up the dosage at this point and 400 is super scary for the NHS system to consider. Trying stimulants was a bit weird and not happy, trying guanfacine and not sure it's working, might go back to a different stimulant, but it really is kind of weird. I get a lot done, I'll give it that.

    I was on an SSRI for about a year and a half for MDD, then transitioned to Bupropion for several months while awaiting an ADHD assessment. I found it did things I was looking for in treating ADHD, quieter mind, the ability to pause and think before speaking, some better focus. But as seems plausible given its use for depression, smoking cessation and weight loss, I could certainly feel various psychoactive effects. Ultimately I did need to get off it due to side effects not mentioned here.
    I am just about to titrate a stimulant, so I can’t offer a comparison. And everyone responds differently. So I don’t want to discourage anyone from trying Bupropion; going off it was pretty easy for me at low dose. But do be on the lookout for side effects you don’t feel good about.

  • @oxykostis3153
    @oxykostis3153 Před rokem +2

    Hi Dr Kidd. I am on Vyvanse and Bupropion. Vyvanse dose is 40mg morning 30mg afternoon. Bupropion dose is 300mg. I've been wondering for a while now WHEN to time the Bupropion dose to pair with the Vyvanse or if it matters. My thought process was that since Vyvanse causes more dopamine to be released and Bupropion causes dopamine to remain in the synapse longer, that MAYBE there is an ideal way to time these two medications or not. I've been able to find practically zero information on my question after much research. Thank you in advance!

    • @drkiddMD
      @drkiddMD  Před rokem +5

      Hi Oxy, I could not find any information on this as well and there probably isnt any research on this specific topic. However, from my experience and just thinking about it from basic principles, if you take both regularly both will reach a steady state concentration and the exact timing of the day is unlikely to have significant impact on the overall effectiveness.

    How does Wellbutrin feel compared to adderall/stimulants?
    I have ADD and anxiety/depression, and have been on stimulants for a decade.
    Now, the side effects of adderrall-horrible anxiety, overactive CNS, etc- have gotten really bad for me, and I am trying to stop adderall.
    Adderall has become way too intense for me even at a low dose, and is wreaking havoc on my body and causing dealt bad anxiety every day.
    My doc suggested Wellbutrin. I am concerned that it will feel just like adderall, with all the similar side effects I am trying to get away from.
    Can someone advise me on this? Does Wellbutrin feel at all similar to adderall in this regard?
    I don’t want another med that causes increased anxiety.

    • @drkiddMD

      Rare combination but viable thought potentially in the right situation. Have to be careful about serotonin syndrome. May need more of a specific reason for bupropion as a choice, may have some impact on self control but probably minimal on procrastination or focus

But I waved and said it’s ok. When I got to the car wash I noticed I wasn’t raging and ruminating I was calm and collected. They said it’ll take 2 weeks for it to come into effect. But I feel like it is already working is that normal? Or am I just in a Placebo phase rn? I also made a checklist and took a shower and remembered immediately that I left my check in the car that’s headed to Arizona with my partner. 🤦🏼‍♂️ but I’m not stressed about it.

      Theoretical risk of serotonin syndrome as most psychotropic medications increase serotonin to some level. Also both can reduce appetite and depending on the dosages of both may also potentially be an issue.
