These guys really went through near death experiences around the world, but the closest they get to dying was in Alabama, not just them, the whole crew.
That part was fake. It was just for show. People in the south can be kinda... "opinionated" that's for sure. But in this case the producers had gotten some locals to play along with the stereotype. Whole thing was staged. If you want real danger from angry locals, the Argentina thing is the closest they ever came to being literally killed by a mob of pissed off people..

One of the script writers talked about this scene in his book "And On That Bombshell". He came up with the idea of putting those slogans on the cars and stuff, so the specific slogans they came up with were fake, but the actual confrontation at the gas station was real and neither him nor the rest of the crew were expecting it. The entire crew, including Clarkson Hammond and May, all said it was by far the scariest moment of their careers!

Clarkson driving through that brick wall and the three of them going that high in the mountains are absolutely mad moments that could have gone truly bad.
My mother had walking pneumonia once. Didn't know she had it, but kept getting headaches. Her doc told her the headaches were her brain's warning it wasn't getting enough oxygen to survive. When the guys complained of headaches in the Andes, I remembered that.

I think the scariest moment in history is Clarkson on death road when he squeezed by the suv, but Hammond on that bridge with the truck is making my hands clammy lol

Hammond's Rimac crash, his drag car crash, them getting thrown off of horses, when they were forced out of Argentina by a gang, Clarkson almost putting a Mclaren P1 into a wall at extreme speeds, The Koenigsegg crash (that was The Stig, so that's actually understandable why that's not in) Clarkson spinning out in a BMW, spinning out in an Aston Martin, Hammond almost running down a cameraman trying to do donuts, Clarkson's runaway RV, Clarkson going off of a road in Canada in a Raptor, "The Scandinavian Flick", there are so many more I can't even think of right now, hopefully we get a part 2 lol
If it does go bad, it's no longer just a dangerous moment, the danger of an accident has turned into an actual accident

The thing about the show that makes watching these scenarios much more bearable is that the pacing allows for you to breathe in between dangerous situations. Even just 4 minutes of constant endangerment is just raising my cortisol levels without end until the end of the video primarily because we don't get to see them make it through these situations. We know that they do because they're still alive (thus far) but there isn't that resolution that my little pea brain comprehends in that moment of release.

The stunt with brick walls and a truck is by far the most stupid and dangerous stunt they have ever done. I think none of them left uninjured.
